The Tides lost to the Richmond Braves by a final of 3-1.
Mike Piazza went 0-4. Piazza had one passed ball behind the plate. Ugh. He played for 1st base for the final two innings and was perfect. He made a spiffy splits catch in a double play. I myself wouldn't have tried a risky catch like that when trying to get over a groin injury (no harm done nonetheless).
By the Way, we have a new single season steal champ, Esix Snead. He passed Mookie Wilson's record a couple of days ago. Esix dropped a perfect bunt and ran it out. Then stole 2nd and 3rd for his 53rd and 54th steal. He was batted in thanks to a smash hit from Russ Johnson (actually, he more like walked home considering how far Johnson hit it). In the fourth inning, Snead was struck out looking to end the fourth. He argued almost the whole time until he went out to the field (he was waiting for hat and glove and argued during the interum). Even from center field, he was still yelling smack, and yes, got himself tossed. Dammit!! Arguing looks cool and all, but I'd much rather you shut up, stay in the game and steal bases than being ejected half way through the game. The last game a went to he was thrown out in the second (to be fair, that time it was a bad call).
Jason Anderson came in and sucked as usual. He gave up 2 runs and Jason Roach the other run.
That maybe the last Piazza game I see. Maybe not. I hope to go to the game on the 22nd where it's Gary Carter bobblehead day and Carter will be there to throw out the first pitch.
