Public Meeting
PIKE TO BIKE TRAIL
(Abandoned Turnpike)
PUBLIC MEETING/OPEN HOUSE
Thursday, September 15, 2005
4:30 – 7 p.m.
Breezewood Fire Hall
In November 2001, the PA Turnpike Commission (PTC) transferred ownership of the abandoned Turnpike to the Southern Alleghenies Conservancy (SAC). Since that time, the SAC has laid much groundwork for developing the former Superhighway into a recreational trail. Located in Bedford and Fulton Counties and containing 2 tunnels, this corridor laid dormant for the past 37 years. Recently, an Advisory Committee comprised of bi-county development officials and business-persons was formed to aid the SAC in the trail’s development. Thanks to their efforts a milestone has been reached: The trail’s Master Plan and Adaptive Re-Use Study is almost finished! Please join us at this meeting to share your thoughts, recommendations, and concerns with the Trail Committee and the Consultant Team. If you have nothing of the sort to share, then come and learn what the preliminary plans are for the trail, and how it will impact your neighborhood. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO GET THE INSIDE SCOOP, POSE YOUR QUESTIONS, AND HAVE A VOICE IN THE FUTURE OF THIS TRAIL BEFORE THE MASTER PLAN IS FINALIZED!

For more information about the trail or the meeting, contact either Ryan Nemanic or Branden Diehl at the SAC, or Bob McKinley, Committee Chairperson (contact information below).
