Re: Probiotics or Enzymes?
Hopefully this will help:
PROBIOTIC
A probiotic is an organism which contributes to the health and balance of the intestinal tract. A probiotic is also referred to as the "friendly", "beneficial", or "good" bacteria which when ingested acts to maintain a healthy intestinal tract and help fight illness and disease.
ENZYMES
Digestive enzymes are complex proteins involved in digestion that stimulate chemical changes in other substances. They work optimally at specific temperature and pH. Digestive enzymes include pancreatic enzymes, plant-derived enzymes, and fungal-derived enzymes. There are three classes of digestive enzymes: proteolytic enzymes needed to digest protein, lipases needed to digest fat, and amylases needed to digest carbohydrates. Doctors sometimes prescribe digestive enzymes to improve absorption of food.
In summary...enzymes will help breakdown, digest and absorb the nutrients from our foods and probiotics will keep the body healthy and balanced. I personally will use both from time to time--but mainly enzymes when i'm having bloating issues and eating proteins. But, if a girl or guy has chronic yeast or lactose intolerance I would recommend taking the probiotics daily.
