Pride: In The Name Of Love
PREVIEW --- Coming In March
Pride: In The Name Of Love
Prologue
"....Exactly 100 years ago, to this day, was when it all began. The day the feud between our families erupted. You see my grandfather - several generations back - was engaged to my namesake....Elizabeth. Her fiancé brought her to America to start their new life, but he wasn't the only man to take notice of her beauty. A jealous former business partner, the original Edward Morgan, challenged Stefano to a dual and lost. Morgan's sons claimed Stefano cheated so in retaliation, they killed him. And so it began, a life for a life. Generation after generation of men seeking revenge, destruction and dying for the family. It is the unspoken battle cry of my family....to die for the family, is to die with loyalty and honor. And yet I can't help, but think...there must be more to this life...."
Sighing, Elizabeth Alcazar rested the pen atop the pages of her journal. The small book lie on the plush pink bedspread; her body carelessly strewn beside it. Propping her elbow, her gaze fell to the balcony doors closed shut; the winter lace clinging to the glass.
"There you are."Elizabeth turned abruptly at the doorway to see an unwelcome figure barging into her closet.
"Samantha..."She warned, watching as her sister selected a hideous dress and threw it at the base of the bed.
"It's Sam. And don't forget, this is my party...."
"It's a dinner in your honor..."
"Same thing."The woman interrupted slicing her hand through the air before putting her fists on her waist,"This night is all about me so don't have any sudden fainting spells."A small smile graced the younger's face.
"I wouldn't dream of it."

"Two billion eligible men on the planet and you choose him?"Emily rose her eyes to stare at her brother.
"At least I've chosen someone. A far cry from your accomplishments, Jason."Returning the icy glare, an uncomfortable silence engulfed the limousine. Watching the interaction carefully, Dillon cleared his throat.
"This is...uh...some weather we're having?"Both of his siblings turned their heads,"You two really need to get a hobby and something other than a boy toy....or a Barbie doll."
"Shut up!"Jason and Emily shouted in unison as the car came to a halt.
"Well..."Dillon replied as he made ready to pass through the opening door,"Now I know why I'm the favorite."Emily rolled her eyes.
"He is such a baby."Catching her older brother's eye she tilted her head,"Are you alright?"Shaking himself out of his revelry, Jason straightened his suit and proceeded to help his sister out of the limo.
"It's been quiet...too quiet...for too long."He replied, his voice low as she slipped her hand into the crook of his arm.
"Tell me something I haven't already heard."Sensing his narrowing eyes, she smirked,"Don't think I haven't noticed it is all you men grumble about day after day."She paused, watching the remaining members of the family lead the way into the restaurant,"Perhaps Dillon is right, maybe you all should get a hobby."
--------------------------------------------------------
"Of all the places she could have chosen for us to dine, this place?"Elizabeth whispered to one of her older brothers, Briano. The tall, dark haired, blue eyed man glanced down at the youngest of his sisters with a sympathetic smile.
"You know Sam, she never passes up the chance to make trouble."Frowning at his tone, the petite brunette gently gripped his arm.
"Is it true?"Her eyes widening as she whispered,"Is the war going to start again?"Leaning, Brian brushed his lips across her forehead.
"Don't worry yourself."He cast his eyes on their family as they approached the designated table. Preparing to aid Elizabeth into her chair, Briano caught his twin, Maximo's, eye.
Noting the sudden stricken appearance on her mother's face, Elizabeth's eyes narrowed. The restaurant, which had been bustling with activity just moments before, was now eerily silent. A very unsettling feeling came over her, sending shivers down her spine. And against her better judgement, Elizabeth turned around.
Moving in their direction were the Morgans; proceeded by their ghastly and frightening reputation. All her life, Elizabeth had never laid eyes on the enemy and from the stories she heard growing up, she might as well have thought they were ugly monsters - not the attractive group of people at a stand still in front of her.
"What are you doing Edward?"She heard her grandfather's voice echo through the room. An old man with white hair, that she could only assume to be the leader, gave a vicious smirk.
"Why Luis, as I am sure you must know, we are celebrating A.J.'s graduation from Penn State and could think of nothing better than the No Name."
Elizabeth could feel herself begin to shake. The fact that Briano's fingers hovered above his gun did nothing to alleviate her fear. But as she stared in a transfixed awe at the family she was born to hate, Elizabeth unconsciously began to nibble on her lip - earning her newfound attention.
Edward's eyes found hers and she froze. Looking at her with interest, the man approached her slowly, as though hunting his prey.
"And who is this beautiful creature?"He inquired, raising her chin with a single finger,"Your name, child?"Fighting the bile rising in her throat, the brunette's lips parted.
"Elizabeth Alcazar."The venom in her voice surprised everyone, including herself. Yet Edward only smiled.
"Exquisite. You resemble the Corinthos quite nicely."Reaching for her hand, he lowered to kiss her hand,"Truly an honor."Backing away, he gave a courteous nod,"Well, we must be on our way. Enjoy your dinner Luis."Parting, Edward left his rival with a victorious smirk.
Elizabeth could feel her body growing numb. No longer able to watch the departing figure of Edward Morgan, her head began to turn in hopes of finding comfort in Briano's face. Her eyes briefly scanned the passing clan and for a moment, the world came to a stand still. The most intense shade of blue stared straight at her, piercing through the layers of her emotions and seeping into the darkest depths of her soul. And just as quickly as the penetrating gaze came, it ripped away.
