Possible Temporary Disability?
My husband at the age of 32 had a heart attack last January. I am itemizing so that I can deduct the medical expenses. One question that has come up is the fact that during his time out of work he was not given short term disability because his company does not offer that. Can we claim that on our taxes as lost wages due to a disability? Also, the after effects of the heart attack left my husband severly depressed. His company gave him six weeks medical leave, unpaid and he got help at a hospital for his depression. Can I also claim THAT as lost wages due to the depression?

Re: Possible Temporary Disability?
I'm afraid you can never claim lost wages as a deduction, unless you've already claimed it as income.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
