Personal Traditions
Merry Meet,
Just curious how different (or alike) we may practice our blended faiths.

I attend church every Sunday, an affirming congregation that embraces gay folk as well as multi-faithed folk and Goddess Worshipping Christians.

I celebrate the Christian Holidays (Christmas, New Year's Day, Easter), I recognize Pentecost and Lent (but don't necessarily see them as "holidays", I celebrate the Wheel of the Year (The Solstices and Equinoxes in particular) simply by wearing a special amulet to "draw" in the power of the particular Sabbat, and will often light candles on my altar and meditate on the significance and meaning of the day to me.

Winter is a particularly wild time...in our household we celebrate Hannakah, Yule, Christmas AND New Year's. To incorporate my observance of Christmas and Yule as well as my partner's observance of Hannakah. We are a multi-faithed family and love it that way.

Speaking of Altars...I have two in my home...one in my private studio (creative expression) and one in our bedroom (lovemaking and rest), the two places in my home that I consider to be the most sacred. On each altar I have the four elements represented (a sphere for earth, a seashell for water, a feather for air, and candles for fire), I have 3 white candles to symbolize the Holy Trinity as well as the Triple Goddess. On my "working altar" in the bedroom, I have a Goddess figure (Gaia) and a God figure (Pan), the two Pagan forms of the God and Goddess that I most relate to...on my "extra altar" in the studio I don't have figures, but I do have a beautiful rosary that I found at a church rummage sale, it's beautiful and totally spoke to me. I love my altars, they make me feel connected to my Wiccanhood, to the earth, and to the Great Spirit.

I suppose my personal tradition is to practice my Wiccan half (the Goddess aspect) at home...and I go to church to practice my Christian half (the God aspect). Yet I also see the Goddess at church (through the Holy Spirit and the Marys), as well as see the God at home in my embracing Pan.

It makes for a nice fluidity, everything seems to make sense. The parallels work well for me...like two lego pieces that lock together perfectly.

How do YOU practice? I find the "nitty gritty" details of our own unique practice fascinating and would love to hear how others practice their "dual faith".

Blessed Be,
Chris
