I know this is the first time I've written back since I left. A lot of it had to do with my resentment of your mother taking, what I felt, was not her place in the house. That resentment, in turn, was passed on to you and your brother.
Events have happened that have forced me to look back on things and re-evaluate them. I admit that I was filled with petty jealousy and anger at everyone. I still am to an extent, but I shouldn't have taken it out on you. For that I'm sorry.
While I still want nothing to do with my father, your mother or brother, I'd like to have the chance to get to know you. I know it won't make up for the way I treated everyone as a kid. I don't expect it to, nor am I asking for forgiveness for being such a jerk about it.
If you feel that you want nothing to do with me, I'll understand.
It is quite a surprise to hear from you after all these years. And a very pleasant surprise it is.
I kinda figured out most of what you told me in your letter, and I have long since forgiven you in my heart. The past cannot be changed, there is no need to dwell on it. The future is what matters now.
I would dearly love to keep in touch with you, and find out what is going on in your life.
I live in Indianapolis now, with my husband Nathan, and my children, Charlene and Kevin. I work as a special education teacher at an elementary school. It's hard work, but very rewarding.

It's good to hear that you teach. Even as a kid you were always too sweet natured and even tempered to go into many of the career fields available. From what I understand, it also takes real dedication to follow that path.
If I remember correctly, Indianapolis is a pretty good place to live. A lot better then some places.
If I were to tell the whole story it would take a small novel. So I'll just give you the highlights.
Let's see. When I graduated from the Military Academy, I went straight into the Military itself. Worked my way up over the years till I became head of IPF-8. It was several years later that the call went out for Volunteers to the SilverHawks. And as you can see by the post mark, I was one of those Volunteers. I don't recall if I did this as a way of proving to myself I could truly make a difference or if it was just to show HIM, I made something of myself. I'll tell you about the others next time.
We had a run in with the local Mob within 20 minutes of arrival. From then on it was pure chaos at times. Hard to believe I've been here for over 20 years. I guess I should be looking at retiring soon. I know several others are thinking about it already. With what happened to me recently, I don't think I could handle another 10 years here. I don't see how the Commander does it to be honest.
I need to go. I have duty shift in the morning so I need to get some sleep. I'll write again, soon I hope.
Well the day has arrived. In less then 24 hours, I will be retired from the SilverHawks and on my way back to Earth. Would you mind if I visit you while I'm on earth? Don't know how long I'll be staying there yet, but when I leave I'll be heading to New Eden in the Haven Galaxy. A couple of friends live there currently.
I'm going to be giving retirement and doing nothing a try, but knowing how I am, I'll be bored within an hour and looking for something to do. I may look for a part-time job just to keep myself active, but not over-work myself at the same time.
Well I had better be going. Still have packing to do before I can leave.
