Other writing?
I was wondering... does anyone else do any creative writing outside of simming? I haven't done too much. However, I plan to have a full length motion picture screenplay completed by the summer. I just started on it last night. I think I got about 6 pages done, a good bit of the opening of the film. We'll see how the rest goes. So, does anyone do any other creative writing?
I do tons of creative writing, but that is one thing that I love to do. It really helps relax me, and calm the nerves after a long days work or something. I just enjoy it, I have a novel started that I presented to my English teacher who has gotten many books published and she really suggested that I send it in to be published, but it is just too close to me personally to let the rest of the world read it.
Creative writing
I myself do a lot of creative writing, Trek and otherwise. I like to write anything from plays to short stories to novels. So far I haven't had any novels published, but I enjoy writing nevertheless.
Good luck with that screenplay! If you ever want a second opinion, I'd love to read it.
And ... if anyone is ever interested in collaborating in a joint novel/storyline, give me a holler. Never joint written with somebody on a work that size, might be interesting.
Re: Other writing?
I've never really done creative writing outside of class. I have, however, fantasized about novelizing my entire life; unfortunately, that is beyond the scope of any publisher currently.
I have done some role-playing, though. Does that count?
Writing
Funny, I seem to have to fill in a subject line. I hate ezboard.
I do a lot of writing. Role-playing should count. I certainly think it does.
My LiveJournal sees the majority of my writing (a novel is currently in progress there), although I do post at a bunch of other RP groups, including one I just joined last night.
Good luck to all who have writing they're doing. May you all see your name in print one day (and I don't mean in the newspaper's police report. ).
other writings
I do some creative writing outside the simms myself. In fact, right now I'm seriously interested in majoring in English in college, so this is probably a good thing. I write mainly sci-fi or action adventure short stories. Sometimes I do other stuff, a bit slower, but most of the stuff has lots of action. I like toying with time too, like time loops and reoccurring days, that kind of thing. But I've found that the star trek simms have really helped my writing(and typing) out tremendously. Anyway, just my two cents.

Writing
The thing I spend the most time writing is posts but outside of SIMing I only wrote a couple of small pieces of science fiction and also small pieces of philosophical works which makes people think...one of my life long goals--goading intellectual thought in others. Personally I think a lot of current writing is drying out, I tend to seek classics for entertainment these days and I hope if I ever do publish something it will be comparable to these works rather than the majority of current best sellar lists...peace
Star Trek: Pioneer
Actually I have written a few Star Trek episodes called Star Trek:Pioneer. I was looking for images for the USS Pioneer when I stumbled across IDF...fate works in mysterious ways.
Writing
I've done a little bit of it. Mostly noodling around with ideas. Brainstorming and then the like. I had had writing published on a site called writtenbyme.com before it went bellyup.
I also took a class given by a published author whom will remain nameless in this forum. Eh, what the heck! His name is Mark Greenside. All writers need publicity ESPECIALLY free publicity.
Oh, btw, Michael, I'm a member of the USS Pioneer in IDF. But you know that already.
This is my first attempt at creative writing, but friends have been telling me for years, that I should write a Star Trek novel. I have been using the sim as practice and may start a novel soon. I have a crew member who has written a fantasy adventure novel and is in the process of getting it published. They are in the final editing stage. He has given me much encouragement over the past several months and I'm not getting any younger, sooo..... Anyway, I am enjoying the writing I do here very much and hope to continue for a long time to come.

I have written tons of stuff, usually short stories & poetry, but nothing on a grand scale. This is my first attempt at RP/Simming, & I really groove on it! Wonderful release, for me anyway.

Re: WritingI've written a lot of stories and essays, etc. for English class... I've loved to write ever since I learned how to write, I suppose :: lol :: I don't remember a time when I didn't like writing.... I've never really sent anything to someone who could publish it or consider having it published, though a letter of mine was published in "Kids' Letters to Harry Potter" about 2 years ago..... But normally, I write fanfiction stories and poems... I've only written Harry Potter fanfiction so far, but I'm planning on writing a Star Trek one as soon as I can think what to write, so when I finally get that uploaded I'll give out the link if any of you want it... I actually started writing a history of the Avalon's A and B, but I think it's best to ask the permission of the rest of her crew and of the admiralty :: hint hint :: before uploading it....
Also, my father, who is a former IDF member (Ensign Dick Jarvas, USS Patriot, December 2001), was at one point starting to write his autobiography, but I don't know if he's continuing it or not, but he never really liked writing all that much. (Ironically, it was he who got me into SIMMing, when I started here in IDF on the Pat, though he ended up not enjoying RPGs himself)

IDF Novel
At the moment i'm writing an IDFleet novel (if no-one minds) it involves all the ships in IDFleet, including the Starbases, if anyone doesn't want to appear in the novel, just tell me.
Count me in...
I'd love that! However, there is the concern, as I'm sure many others would be concerned as well, that our characters won't have the same inflection that we put into them in the groups. I'm for it but it takes some doing to understand the ins and outs of the characters.
I'd be willing to send you a brief outline on my character. Just tell me what your e-mail addy is and I'll type it up and send it to you.
IDF Novel
Sounds cool, I have no problem with it. One thing though, Cmdr Henry Logan is from a race of beings that I plan on using in novels I plan on writing in the future. Falentinian, Falintine, Borandi, and Borandis are all a part of that circle and I will eventually be using them. If you want to change these names that would be fine.
I have had several CD post investigating the culture of the Falentinians, and I respectfully request those not to be added in the IDF Novels. Other than that, he is fair game for use in your novels and I look forward to seeing everyone's favorite contortionist computer specialist turned XO in action.
Have a good day and Drive safely.

Re: IDF Novel
Sure I'd love to be in your novel! My bio is on the DS15 website - just go to the "Crew" link and click on my character's name. The website is: www.mybigbang.com/DeepSpace15/
If you want any info about my character's CD - (I have made a few heavier posts about this) please email me or give me your e-mail address. Just put something on topic in the subject line so I can tell that it isn't junk mail. Actually, you'll see my email address right beside my character's name when you check the Crew Manifest.

Re: IDF Novel
Hello again. I would still like to be in your novel. I'm posting again about this topic because I'm updating my character's bio since I'm currently not satisfied with the original one that I posted in March when I joined the IDF. Lt. Gill is my only PC in the fleet. I run rampant on ideas for my character's CD so contact me if you have any questions. Thanks and peace.

Other Writing
I love writing in my spare time! It's one of my favorite things to do. Match that with the fact that I'm totally in love with Star Trek, and you've got the combination that led me to simming. About the IDFleet novel... There's one thing you have to think about before writing it... With the turnover that some ships have, it might be obsolete, character-wise, before it's finished. I have actually been thinking about the same kind of project and I came across this problem. Just a thought...
