Ocean's 11
Akujin and Xiefall ran one last check on their MS’s. Once everything was in working order, they sat and waited patiently for Auray. They saw him walking above the docking bay. He stopped with a mobile com piece up to his mouth, “Man your suits.” With that he dropped down to Pondera Vita. He took a zip-cord to his cockpit and opened up a com-link to every active MS and ship ready for departure. “This mission is a quick snatch and grab job. We are aiming to retrieve as many suits as possible. Also, the shipments to X-10 are supposedly their. We need them, but we just can’t pilot the ships, they have tracers so be quick in transferring. Keep your eyes open for anything unusual and don’t hesitate to stop any would-be hero’s.” Everyone nodded at their orders. Auray had closed all links except to Akujin and Xie, “Ready?” They both nodded, Akujin sipped his bourbon at the same time.
The large docking bay doors opened letting about twenty-five suits into open space along with three cargo ships. Auray opened a universal link once again, “Power down to thrusters only, and use caution and stealth. Move quickly, though do not exceed my speed. Initiating radio silence in…”
Vern Brinerwitz looked over a series of surveillance screens showing different portions of the colony, inside and out. Something caught his eye, twenty-eight suits and three cargo ships, including Auray with his two wingmen, exiting from the Vis Vires ship. Vern immediately opened a link to Pondera Vita’s cockpit, “What in the hell do you think you’re doing?!?!”
“3…”
“Where the hell are you going?!”
"2…”
“What about everything we talked about!? You just wait…!”
“1…” All com screens went black and Auray relaxed to much needed silence. Akujin kicked back and began working at his flask of bourbon. Xiefall looked around and picked up every loose piece of equipment he could find and toyed with it for a bit before putting it down and letting out a long, dramatic sigh. The darkness of space consumed the fleet as the main ship and colony just become stars on the black backdrop. A dim glow lit Auray’s face as the proximity meter slowing blinked. “Almost there…” He thought. The mission played over and over in his head, he would be relying on Xie and Aku for success. However, something made him very uneasy.
Akujin took one last sip from his flask before tucking it away and assuming the position. He was all too ready and his intuition told him they were almost there. Xiefall rested his head in his hands. It’d be a matter of minutes before the destruction ensued, but for him that was an eternity. Suddenly there screens lit up with Auray’s visage, “Power up, thrusters to full. Make an example of the first few but once inside I want all the MS’s intact. Take as little lives as possible, I need full cooperation, then do what you will with the rest.”
Half-a-dozen Taurus’s floated about the colony on guard. Each received a blip on their radars at the same time. A lone pilot looked out into space, “I don’t see…hold on, I have a visual…” Pondera Vita zipped past the suit. “What the hell…?!” The pilot exclaimed just before erupting in a ball of flames at the hand of Akujin’s linear saber. Ocelot covered Pondera Vita’s right flank with Xiefall in his Elocution II covering the left. “Xie, break off!” Akujin shouted. Ocelot jetted off to right taking on two more suits. The first was simple and cut apart by a few well calculated cuts. The next put up more of a fight, or at least prolonged the inevitable. The Taurus ducked and dodged around trying to avoid the linear onslaught. Ocelot circled the MS playing a game of cat and mouse before flying down and up cutting the suit in half vertically. Xiefall jerked his controls left taking on his two opponents at the same time. They took the initiative and charged the Elocution II. Xie flew forward with his dual beam lance in front of him. Getting within meters of each other, Elocution II ran its lance through the torso of the one and quickly spiraled, releasing the suit into the other. With a quick draw of his 105mm Rifle he pumped out five rounds causing a double explosion. “Haha, easy enough,” Xie laughed. The docking bay doors opened to the colony. A dozen pilots were ready for action when the realized they were outnumbered. The twenty-five Vis Vires suits entered stood at the opening with all weapons pointed inside. Akujin and Xiefall piloted back to the group. Akujin was just about to open his mouth when Xie opened his mouth, “Lemme do it?” Akujin nodded, “Go for it.” Elocution II’s loud speakers boomed, “Put your weapons and surrender!” They suits did as they were told, resistance would be futile. Meanwhile, Auray was skimming along the outside of the colony dragging his linear lance leaving a nasty scar. A single Taurus stood guarding the bridge. With a flick of the controls the lance extended and sliced the suit in two. Pondera Vita flew straight up, deholstered its rifles, flipped backwards and landed on top of the bridge with the barrels pointing at the men inside. “Don’t do anything irrational, the colony is under my control now.” The men raised their hands and put behind their heads. “Good, now order all MS’s to the docking bay.” They all hesitated. “Do it!” It was the captain who stepped forward and gave the order.
Back in the docking bay the three cargo ships had docked. Akujin opened a private link to Auray, “What exactly are we looking for?” “Cargo being shipped to X-10, find it and fill a ship with it, all of it. Then have all of the colony’s suits boarded onto the remaining ships.” “Got it, Auray.” Akujin relayed what he’d been told to Xie and they got to work.
