Appearance:
As a metamorphmagus, Tonks can easily change her appearance at will, however, this doesn't mean that the girl doesn't have her own looks. Nymphadora loves to play with this ability with hers. she enjoys changing her appearance few days and uses it all the time to hide little faults of her body.
Standing at 5'6" Tonks can be easily mistaken for a younger girl for her lack of female curves. She is rather skinny, yet not in the unhealthy way. It can be easily seen that the girl didn't give up sports after school, even though she isn't as athletic anymore as she used to be. Her skin is light and smooth despite few scars on her legs and hands, which Nymphadora usually hide simply making them disappear.
Nymphadora's face is heart-shaped with accented cheekbones. Her eyes are almond-shaped, dark brown and twinkling, whenever she is happy or feeling mischievous. Eyebrows that are a little too close together make her eyes look smaller than they really are. Her nose is small and straight, despite the fact that it has been broken a couple of times. Fortunately, healers managed to fix it properly. Rather thin lips cover small pearly white teeth, that long ago used to be slightly crooked.
Nymphadora prefers her dark brown hair short and messy in the stylish way. She considers her natural color to be rather dull and changes it very often, varying from the platinum blond to dark blue.
Tonks never wears any cosmetics, unless it is necessary with her new appearance. In fact, the girl doesn't even know how to put on a make-up properly. She refuses to wear any jewelry either, while, in her opinion, it just feels unnatural. this, however, doesn't go for two friendship bracelets, worn on her right arm, that were made by Ginny and Hermione. Nymphadora is never out of jeans, matched with any T-shirt, yet her favorite is the one with the Weird Sisters' logo, since she is a rabid fan of the band.
Personality:
Brave and idealistic, Tonks has always needed something to fight for. While at Hogwarts, it was her house, friends, half-blood pride. Now being a member of the Order of the Phoenix she has a clear idea of a thing, worth to die for. Due to her indescribable loyalty, devotion and determination people see her a fierce and passionate fighter, who is willing to do whatever it takes to win.
Like her uncle Nymphadora is reckless when it comes to herself. The girl loves the danger and some adrenaline is a vital necessity to her. Lasting inactivity would make her turn to extremes, putting herself into the real danger. She loathes boredom as well as being alone. Some might say that Tonks feels somewhat insecure being all by herself and they are right, even though she doesn't realize that yet.
While Nymphadora is really reckless about herself, she would never put others in danger. Knowing that her family is in grave danger in times like these, especially having an auror daughter and one of them being a muggle-born, drives her mad. Andromeda engrafted great sense of responsibility in the girl and Tonks always tries to look after others all the time, especially after younger ones. She isn't overprotective though.
Friends and family know Tonks as an always cheerful person, having great sense of humour and a sharp tongue. She is outspoken, often balancing on the line between straight speaking and rudeness. Tonks values truth very much and often has a pig problem understanding how it can hurt other people.
Tonks has never been able to be seductive, womanlike and has always lacked female charm. She is cheeky, competitive and opinionated and the mixture of this usually drive most of the guys away. She doesn't mind it at all, though.
History:
Nymphadora Tonks was born on March 29th, 1973 to a newly wed couple of Ted Tonks and Andromeda Black Tonks. The first few years were rather difficult for the young couple, because Ted's salary was minimal, Andromeda couldn't work while she had to look after little Nymphadora and they had no way of getting any of the Black family's fortune. Living between two different worlds: muggles' and magical didn't make things easier either. Fortunately, they did a clever move of leaving London and settling down in the little town, where Ted got a better job and Andromeda managed to combine her role as a housewife with part-time jobs in the neighborhood, at the same time not forgetting her magical nature.
Ever since her early childhood Tonks refused to be subtle and gentle like other girls. Quick-tempered and troublesome girl soon became friends with neighborhood boys only to spend time climbing the trees, taking long tour around the neighborhood and causing mischief. It was no surprise that soon enough parents of other children began considering her enfant terrible, who was affecting their children in the wrong way. This, however, only brought few laughs to Ted and Andromeda, who were determined to give their daughter enough freedom. Nymphadora continued spending time with her friends, only now they had to keep it in secret quite often.
Acceptance letter from Hogwarts was received on Nymphadora's 11th birthday. Ted was proud, Andromeda was happy and Nymphadora was... Well, a bit scared. She loved spending time here with her friends, leading a carefree life and going to a far away school wasn't the most appealing idea to the young girl. Luckily, Andromeda noticed her daughter's confusion and managed to interest her.
At Hogwarts Nymphadora was immediately sorted into Gryffindor. She made a lot of friends from her house and not only, most of whom were boys. Girl just seemed not to like this outspoken girl. Nymphadora's first week at school pretty much summarized all her years there. The girl could hardly stay concentrated in classes, she didn't have enough patience to work hard on her studies and had a knack for causing troubles. All this resulted in breaking Ted's dreams of seeing her little girl the best student and a Prefect.
During her later years at Hogwarts Nymphadora had some off-and-on crushes, including Gryffindor from her year - Charlie Weasley. However, none of these crushes developed into something more, since most of the guys saw Nymphadora as their best friend and nothing more.
Tonks surprised everyone by finishing Hogwarts really good and getting into Aurors' training. Of course, her special ability played a big role in this. Nymphadora realized that she is there only by a lucky chance and shouldn't waste this opportunity, especially when the job really seemed interesting for her. Tonks cut down on most of hang-outs with friends and parties to learn as much as possible. Soon enough she was considered one of better young aurors, despite her clumsiness.
After training Tonks immediately got job in the Ministry as a very promising young auror. This was when the girl began having doubts about rightness of her career choice. It was plain boring. No one trusted her for her lack of experience and she spent most of her time in the office and not hunting dark wizards as she dreamed she would. Yet things definitely improved about a year later when a man she worked with invited her to join newly re-created Order of the Phoenix.
Tonks was over-excited with such prospect, and in a matter of days she found herself a member of it. She met many new people, including Remus Lupin, who she started to have more important feelings to before long. The happiest year of her post-school life was ruined by her cousin's death, which affected Tonks greatly. What's more, Remus refused to get into serious relationship with her, and that left the young woman greatly depressed.
The entire next year was somewhat of a blur to her. She did what she had to do mechanically and without a spark of enthusiasm. Dumbledore's death came as a shock for Tonks. She was about to sink even deeper into depression, but Fleur's example made her try again. She reassured Remus that she didn't care about all those things he thought were going to stand between them, and surprisingly he didn't argue anymore.
Now Tonks is quite assure that she can handle living through this war.
