North American Championships
Hey LA Howz the prep going..how far out are you?
BTW I have posted question in your Ask LA about Tape measurments..not sure if you have seen it
North American Championships
Yeah...hard to train in summer? I prefer summer to winter I can barely get my butt outta be din the mornings how freezing it is I have like 10 layers on me and feel like a Micheline men LOL. Honestly I do not take cold very well. I do HIIT runs in the morning in gloves and beanie, thick jacket and pants...people look at me like I am psycho. I finish my training and I am just about warm...I do not even sweat And no I am lazing I am kicking my butt sprinting I just generaly do not sweat...unless it is freaky hot!!!!
Re: North American Championships
Here's the email that i sent out this morning regarding my decision on withdrawing from the show
Hey everyone,
I've been doing a lot of soul searching for the past week or so and i've decided I"m not doing the North Americans (even though i've already paid for them)-- as my heart isn't in to it right now....and i can't justify the expense for another show--these ones that are out of province are way too expensive--its not worth it--i can give myself more exposure on MY own website than these shows give. I decided that on the weekend--i want to have a "normal" life right now so i'm going to take a year off competing to see what direction the industry heads towards in figure. I will probably make my comeback at the North Americans next year. I will still be involved in the sport just not on the stage right now. I want to "shrink" my body a bit--as i don't like carrying this much muscle--I liked myself better when i was smaller--so i'm going to reshape my physique over the year--this will be more marketable as well. I think this will be the best in the long run for me. I don't like the rebound effect from competing--especially in Canada where you have to put on the musculature size of a bodybuilder--i would rather promote and support the industry and athletes to the best of my ability and to do that successfully I have to be happy with myself first--emotionally and physically. So...thats where my head is right now. I was a little disappointed at first but now i'm satisfied with my decision. Hopefully everyone will understand my decision as its the best option for me and everyone in my life at this moment in time.
We have A LOT going on in our life right now --which we'll be announcing some stuff soon!! Its very exciting and we're looking forward to the future Keep check'n our website and especially my journal where i'll be updating the events in our life frequently.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the past few years!! The friendships are priceless and i will always be around to give back the support that you all have shown to me I will be back on stage in the future--and hopefully here in Canada --if the changes to the judging criteria are implemented across the country lets keep our fingers crossed and make our voices heard for the positive future of this sport!!
Yo go girl
As I already said on your blog...I am all for it girl I totaly understand how you feel and where you coming from. I have been in the same situation and it took me a loooong time to get where I am now with my body I wish you all the best to get where you want to get with your physique. At the end it is you who must be happy with the way you look(not the judges)
Ask Lori-Ann-questions for figure competitor
Hey Lori-Ann,
I can FULLY appreicate where you are coming from.
It's taken me a whole year to get back to 'normal' after competing in 4 shows during my first year. There are so many emotional issues that come with competing - before, during and certainly after.
What I find difficult, too, is the gamble one takes on what physique they should be striving for for each show. I have always respected your focus and preparation for your shows, Lori-Ann, and rushing into another show after the Nationals probably won't do you any favours (meaning, you'd most likely present a superb physique for the stage but you'll compromise your personal comfort level if your heart isn't totally committed).
Question for you: How DO you drop the muscle? I am still building muscle, find it hard to lift 'light', even though I am doing set of 10-12 mosy times.
I am exciting to hear you taking time soley for you, Darrin and your family and friends. You have a lot of common sense!
Re: Ask Lori-Ann-questions for figure competitor
Hey good question She about how to drop muscle I just look at weights and my muscle starts to twitch LOL!! I too strive for steamlined lean and hard look. But everyone seems to get it by lifting fairly heavy
Re: Ask Lori-Ann-questions for figure competitor
Hey guys...I'm still training 4-5 days a week but instead of lifting to build i'll be lifting to downsize--if that makes sense. Darrin has me lifting lighter weigt with reps around the 15 range. Its almost like cardio....speaking of the dreaded C word...yes...i'll be begining that as well so my body comp will decrease at the same time..fat and muscle decrease.
I will also alter my supplements as i won't be needing a lot of the muscle building ones..ahhh...save a little money..whew..
Other than that--- i will still have a workout routine and supplement regimine to follow. I'll be posting some pics of myself throughout the years so you all can see what the "little" me looked like and how i've changed over the past few years.
Re: Ask Lori-Ann-questions for figure competitor
Awesome...thanx for da reply LA LOL welcome to da cardio club I know you despise it!!! Hey I used to hate running...honestly I was useless I started couple of weeks back, mostly HIIT and now I am actually loving it...strange but true I used to do mostly stepper/cross trainer but stopped 3 months ago. Switching to runs/sprints my legs are looking more streamlined. Stepper kept my legs on bulky side, just a thought And yeah it will be great to see you posting photos how you progress...so Darrin shoot away
Re: Ask Lori-Ann-questions for figure competitor
Well.... i haven't started any cardio yet..baaaaaaaaaaaad me.... heheheheh....i've just been enjoying the summer but i do have to get back on a schedule soooon. I'm a cow!!
