Appearance:
Neville is a short round faced boy. He has a small nose but dark, wide set eyes. Neville has light brown hair that usually messed up on way or another, whether sticking up in the back or flattened on one side. He is a bit on the chubby side, but has been slowly slimming out as he grows. He walks in a protective stance for fear of tripping or running into something/someone.
Personality:
Neville is quite a shy and quiet boy when you first meet him. Then as you get to know him he blooms like a flower. It has taken him quite some time to come into his own. He has worked through much awkwardness to get to where he is.
Neville is rather clumsy and forgetful, as per the reason he owned a Remembrall, until he lost that too. He also got picked on a lot by Professor Sevarus Snape. He is quite brave to have kept going to class despite the constant mockery he received.
Neville has trouble trying to perform magic at times. He is not good at all with charms, transfigurations or potions, and his ineptitude sometimes causes him to get into trouble. Until one day Professor Sprout discovered Neville's green thumb, and discovered that he is quite adept when it comes to Herbology. He carries a Mimbulus Mimbletonia with him at all times. This cactus sprays stinksap and has powerful defensive powers.
Although Neville doesn't particularly fit the Gryffindor mantra of being brave and courageous, he is brave and courageous in his own way. He defended himself to other Gryffindors when he was right about losing some house points, as well as standing up to Crabbe and Goyle, with the chance of being beaten up.
Neville was quick to join "Dumbledore's Army" and to learn many Defense Against the Dark Arts techniques taught by Harry. He took part in running battle in the Department of Mysteries against a band of Death Eaters. Neville was wounded but was also the last able wizard left standing with Harry near the end of the battle.
History:
At first Neville's family thought him to be a squib, or a non-magical person who was born to practicing witches or wizards. This was proven wrong one day when he was accidentally dropped out of a window by his Great Uncle Algie. He bounced down the street.
Neville was born to Frank and Alice Longbottom. Both his parents were quite popular aurors and members of the Order of the Phoenix. They fought against Voldemort and his Death Eaters. They ended up in the closed ward at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries after being cursed by Bellatrix LeStrange with the Cruciatus curse. His parents cannot remember him, so Neville claims they are dead. After his parents were committed to St. Mungo's, Neville's grandmother, Augusta, took him in and raised him.
Neville was almost "the boy who lived". The prophecy made before his birth made him a probable choice as Lord Voldemort's adversary. In the prophecy it says the person would be born at the end of July and born to people who have thrice defied Lord Voldemort. It also says that Lord Voldemort would mark that person as his equal, It could have been Neville, but it is Harry who carries the mark, and not Neville.
