NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Anyone follow hockey here?

I'm a Flames fan (my hometown team)

Any predictions/preferences for who gets into the next round?
General hockey talk? Great plays/goals/hits/games you wanna talk about?

I'd like round2 in the East to be Ottawa, Buffalo, Montreal, and New Jersey (my roommate is a huge Brodeur fan).
I can't stand Tampa (mostly cuz of last season) or Carolina. They're the only teams in the East that might make it ahead of my picks, I reckon.

Anyone else care to speculate?

Re: NHL
Habs fan here.

How about Hitchcock saying, "Lindy should f&^* off" when asked about the dirty Flyers play last night.

My predictions
east: Ott, Car, NJ, Buf (changed to Ott, Mon, NJ, Buf after the two montreal wins)
west: Det, Col, Cal, SJ

I really like SJ to go all the way this year, great offense and outstanding goalies tend to win stanley cups. And NJ from the east was amazing going into the playoffs and typically play great in the playoffs especially Brodeur.

personally, I'll be devastated and rendered incontinant if the final is not Les Habs vs the Oilers with the Habs coming out on top... Or I might just go back to puttering in the veggie patch and forget about it.

Is it just me or does Ray Emery remind anyone else of Patrick Roy from his earlier years?

April 25th

Huge win for Ottawa tonight.

I think the Flames were great against the Ducks. Especially in the 2nd period; my biggest criticism of the last game was a lack of hitting, which they corrected. The big hit on Fedoruk will be on every highlight reel.
But the forechecking was great, too. Lots of puck possession.

Reminded me of some of the best efforts of the "cinderella" team of 03-04.

Any thoughts on the Edmonton win tonight over Detroit in 2OT?
Didn't see much of the game myself, but Edmonton leading 2-1 in the series has gotta change everyone's mentality significantly.

I'm surprised (but pleased) that Colorado has dominated Dallas thus far. Unexpected, but somehow I'd hate to see my team against Dallas for the Conference.

For the West, I'd like to see Calgary, Nashville, Edmonton, and Colorado.
But I definitely think SJ has Nashville's number, and Dallas and Detroit might still pull one out.

all's half well so far.

Montreal proved to be impotent without Koivu - and now they are golfing.

the battle of Alberta would have been fun with Edmonton pounding Calgary in 6-7 games (who can argue that Edmonton did not play superbly against Detroit)

Go Oilers!

Re: NHL
not from Edmonton.

I've lived in Red Deer since '97. Before that, Nova Scotia back into the dim mists of time.

I think I jumped on the Oiler bandwagon in the good old days, and have stayed loyal.

Man Calgary was terrible.
I remember talking to a coworker the night before game 7, and I was like "you know what? we're not gonna win." and he agreed with me.

The one game that Calgary won 5-2 was the best effort they put in, but the rest of the time they weren't playing good enough and letting Anaheim control the style and tempo of the games. They were just plain bad.
They deserved to be out.

Montreal definitely choked without Koivu as did the Rangers without Jagr.

Did anyone else think that game 1 between Ottawa and Buffalo was the most exciting game thus far? Granted, I really didn't watch much of the easter conference in round one, but I just liked that game.

I like the game that those two teams play. Lots of scoring and good puck control in the offensive zone; they just make tons of chances. Something that I found sorely lacking the play of Calgary in particular.
