Re: More Mimian names and terms
I've got a new name for a story I've been devloping about another Floating Island princess, Tamran's grandaughter, Ciaci. She is a bit like her grandmother and has a fascination with commoners. She begs and begs with her father and mother to allow a common girl to live with her at the place. The emperor says flat-out 'no', but her mother wanting her daughter to be happy thinks up a loophold to the commoners can't see the royals rule, find a blind girl.
Getting back to the name...
Nuemai (Mua)-stern (This will be the name of Ciaci's governess)
I'm still working on names for Ciaci's, mother and betrothed.

Re: More Mimian names and terms
I decided to come up with only one new word this time. It's for Ciaci's mother.
Sua (Mua)- kind
Her full name with be Sjasua- sweet kind
The name of Ciaci's betrothed comes completly from your stuff. Kestor- brave lion.
I think I'm going to take off the current "Royal Diary" and replace it with a more traditional telling or just forget it and move on.

Re: More Mimian names and terms
I've got another Floating Island royal family plot. this one is for more recent history. So maybe, if you guys like, we could do it as an interactive fic. The time is the begining of Earth Tampala relations. I'm guessing the generation or so before Tilor's mahda, Lady Brilla. I'm also guessing that the cult of Wesitu has been around since who knows when, but the MATI would, naturally, be a more recent thing. We're the two organizations always connected or did it happen over time?
Anyway the plot is this... The current emperor, willing to embrace change, hires a human to be a private tutor for his son. She is a widow with a daughter about the prince's age. Though no sparks ever flew between the Emperor and the tutor many did between the Prince and her daughter. He was betrothed to a girl soon after the arrival. The prince takes her as his entawan and with a little coaxing the human as his pitawan.
On a quick note, by now the anitquated notion of commoners not seeing the royals is forgotten.
Somewhere the MATI would intervene this may possibbly be a milestone from them in getting their hooks in places of power?
Re: More Mimian names and terms
I totally agree with Dee here, Kristi. Now to answer your questions. The MATI and the Followers of Wenbaran are actually one and the same. The actual MATI evolves from the original cult shortly after human-Tampala relations began. A prophecy threatened the Followers of Wenbaran in the form of the Child of Light 'should Mimian blood mix with other races'. It is uncertain whether or not Wenbaran made up this prophecy to provide an invaluable source of destrcution. Over time, many of the MATI members have forgotten the nature of their purist actions, providing the pure hatred that leads to destruction, and ultimately a power boost for Wenbaran. The only ones who do remember their original notions are El Undars and their children.
The notion that commoners should not see the royals has, over time, been dismissed as a superstition.
The Followers of Wenbaran, since humans discovered Tampala, have been trying to gain power through strategic marriages among their own kind. Obviously, it has been sucessful in achieving social and economic power. Unfortunately, many of the entawans of the Followers aren't for racial purity, so the notion of Wenbaran is attempted to be placed on their children.

Great. Thanks. Well I think I have who's who in the family. The prince Ha(long) vi(life) and his future entawan Yeria (jewel) will have a son, Prince Rutor, who will be the future entawan of Lady Barilla. And that's of course when the MATI comes into the picture and Havi's going to lose his pitawan and second child.
Re: More Mimian names and terms
One thing's for certain; the deaths are defintely going to be either an 'accident' or a 'disease'. Birilla has loads on knowledge in the arcane and mystic arts, as well as alchemy. Also, she has a very special gift that allows her to charm any man. Thus her name, Biril (seductive) la(song). While we're at this little massacare, why don't we let Birilla knock off the in-laws as well to rush the coronation and everything? Or is that going too far? It won't matter, though; prophecies are very tricky. If one does not act upon trying to prevent it, it won't come true. Very ironic...the trick would be to make sure no one suspect Birilla, of course.

Sure. I guess she might think it necessary. No one susspecting Barilla... I could just see her acting nice towards her sister-in-law, children and family. Then behind closed doors it's a different story as she works her magic. We've got a little time before we really have to worry about the MATI deatails anyway.

I have a couple otherwords, they'll make up the name of the second largest city on the Floating Island. The city was named after part of a prayer.
Re: More Mimian names and terms
Wow, you really are getting the hang of the naming game!
