Midori's Background
Name: Midori Ito (Firefly)
Relatives: Fumie Ito (Surguri- maiden name) (Mother) Kenji Ito (Father) Taro Surguri (Uncle) Mai Suguri (Aunt) Reiko "Rei" Suguri (Cousin)
Midori Ito was the only child born to Kenji and Fumie Ito. She and her cousin, Reiko (Rei) were born around the same time and were very close. When Rei was five her family moved back to Japan. Midori and Rei kept a long distance friendship throught letters.
As Rei got older she grew incresingly tired of her parents pushing her to her acedemic limits and keeping her sheltered at home. One night when she was a young teenager she snuck out to a night club and met pimp. She decided to live with him and became a prostitute.* Years latter she was mudered by one of her customers.
* I took that first part from a movie called "Children of the Night". I was curious to see actor John Stamos in something other than "Full House". I got an extra treat and saw Roxeanna Zall (sp?). She was in "Goodbye Miss 4th of July" and until then I never saw her in anything else either.
Meanwhile back in America Midori was doing just fine. She was doing well in school, had friends, non-pushy parents and she was getting letters from Rei. Things were good until unexpectedly Rei's letters stopped coming. Then one day a letter from Uncle Taro and Aunt Mai came telling that Rei was missing. Then no more letters again. Years latter another letter from Taro and Mai came. It told of what happened to Rei. Midori then decided that she was going to somehow make sure that no one else fell victim to "bad crowds" (one of her Uncle's expressions. I based him on Khan from King of the Hill). Eventually the Silverhawk program was in the works. Midori was part of security on the fledgling Mars colony when she heard about it and volluteered.
I was thinking of doing a series of letters bettween Rei and Midori and calling it "Pen Pals". What do you guys think?

I had a similar idea for some of the friendships that have developed in my universe and Dee's. Hey, if you want to use it, be my guest; we could start another letter series!

Okay. Look for the start of it here. The first letter should be when they're about six or seven.
A quick note about the cyber-implant stuff. Back in this time the technology was still a fairly new field. This is also before Carlouco Vargas's time, so limbs, organs and such could not be replaced.
