Maybe the Roulette should go first???
If the overlords who control the SET were to change the order of things, how do you think a roulette to start things off would work? I find at the end of the night some people might be a little pooped from all the action and are hesitant to jump up. I think the roulette would also be a great start as no one would be intimidated by the superior comedy of the second city players. Might be a high energy way to start the show? What do you think?

Re: Maybe the Roulette should go first???
This one I tend to disagree with. This one is purely subjective and most likely based on individual preference. Some newbies to the whole idea might want to see some other people perform first so they can get an idea of how improv works and then try it out in the roulette.

I think the following shows would also kind of suffer from it because when you get up there first and then have to sit down and watch another two shows you will most likely be all jumpy (from the adrenaline i suppose) and you won't be paying attention to the piece in front of you because you'll be in your head thinking "I wish I would have done / said this instead." or "I can't believe he didn't 'yes and' that idea"

And who's to say the comedy throughout the night is 'superior' in any way?

(Sorry Josh... :rollin )

Hmmm...
Mike, I have to disagree with you on this one. At least, for now.

I've been hearing people are 'intimidated' no matter what we do. It was actually surprising for me to hear from some of the people I heard this from. Even when we play with them, and encourage them as much as we can, I still end up hearing people are nervous to play with us. And, it's not even playing with us... it's even getting up in front of us to perform that some people say is hard.

Often times some cast members will go out and have drinks and try to get to know people on a more personal level. Some people I feel I forge good friendships with, and I still hear about it. As a matter of fact, last night I went out to drinks and was told it's nervous for some people to get up, no matter when... where.. or how we offer the chance.

That's just part of the business I guess. Who's strong? Who can get over that and focus on some good comedy? We all went through that, and continue to.

Welcome to the world of performing.

We're all heading down a path, some are just further along than others. No one is 'Superior'.

How Zen-ish. I feel aligned with the universe.

Please understand none of my suggestions are meant to be taken as anything other than an experiement. I feel the SET is becoming quite repetative and think a change in running order would be quite welcome for a week here and there. That's all.
