Marley
Am I the only one who found it funny that Blake's name for Harley is Marley? :lol

Speaking of Marley...I loved their scenes today. They are even more fun to watch now that the silly jail storyline is finally over.

Re: Marley
actually, I found it really annoying. Can't these writers think of names that are more creative instead of resorting to old couple names?

I am certain that they could think of other names...there are plenty to pick from. However, I personally find it rather creative that they used an old couple name as opposed to just any name because it means something to those fans who liked the couple. Those who did not, or who started watching after the couple was already apart, really have nothing to lose by it.

Internet fans frequently complain how writers do not remeber the history of the show and characters...so I personally feel that we should be grateful for those rare occasions when they do remember.

(I don't know know to do the quote thing properly on this site)

I am with Jen. Why should ANY viewer "be grateful" for the writers who resort to old couple names as a lazy attempt at being 'clever'?

Personally, I would be grateful if they'd remember the history of what Mallet did to Harley, and stop pretending that Harley would ever trust him again. Personally, I don't think that watching "cutesy" scenes between Harley and the man that committed adultery when they were married is "fun."

Tex ~

Personally, I prefer doing quotes the way you did it. Ezboard quotes tend to take up entirely too much space! However, if you do want to use them this is what you need to do:

1. Highlight the text you want to quote
2. Click on the "Quote" button that you will see to the left of the "reply" window...fourth button
3. Paste the text into the box that will pop up
4. Click on OK, which will return you to the reply window

<<<I am with Jen. Why should ANY viewer "be grateful" for the writers who resort to old couple names as a lazy attempt at being 'clever'? >>>

What I was trying to say was that not everyone would see it as lazy. Some viewers would see it as writers actually doing their work and making an attempt to incorporate history...which I believe is less lazy than using just any random name.

<<<Personally, I would be grateful if they'd remember the history of what Mallet did to Harley, and stop pretending that Harley would ever trust him again. >>>

I don't know if you watched the show earlier this summer, but that is exactly what they did during the jail storyline. They addressed exactly that issue while Mallet was helping (or "helping", whichever way you prefer to see it) Harley during her time in prison. Granted, I will be the first one to say that the prison storyline was horrendous, but the fact that Mallet cheated on Harley was certainly remembered and addressed.

<<<Personally, I don't think that watching "cutesy" scenes between Harley and the man that committed adultery when they were married is "fun.">>>

Different people different tastes I suppose. :)

Re: Marley
I believe Tex was talking about the completely rewritten history of Harley and Mallet's divorce. Like the one-night stand was actually a months-long affair, ending when Harley found them together in her and Mallet's bed. The changing of the dog's name. The fact that Mallet didn't actually write letters, but called her and told her he wanted a divorce. Or that Beth called Mallet when Phllip and Harley were together and wanted him to come back to get Harley back and he refused. Stuff like that ;)

And it would be different if they didn't use the old name of two thirds of the triangle. It's as bad as calling Harley 'Beth'.

Re: Marley
You are exactly right, Jen. I've been watching since 1988, and saw all the Harley/Mallet stuff when it happened. I remember what the correct "history" is, and what we are seeing is NOT it. To some of us, using "Marley" is much closer to insulting than clever. To some of us, it is equally insulting to watch the current writing of one conversation in prison where the REVISED history of the adultery was addressed, and be expected to accept the revised version as what happened. It isn't.

Ezboard ate my post twice already, so here we go again...
Oh, i see. I don't think we were entirely talking about the same thing. :lol

I can definitely undestand the frustration when it comes to re-writing storylines. There were times when I was frustrated with it myself (B&B, but I better not go there!) I do wish the writers wouldn't do it, but I also think there are situations in which it is more of a correction of previous mistakes. I think this might be one of them...

Please correct me if I am wrong, I did not watch as much back when Harley and Mallet were a couple, but as far as I remember writers trashed the character of Mallet off-screen when they turned him from a loving husband into a cheating sleazeball. I know that many fans of Harley and Mallet were completely devastated because they felt that Mallet would never cheat on her. I think what they are doing now is not re-writing the history completely, since they did not change the fact that he did cheat on Harley, but somewhat lessening the damage done to Mallet...so they are turning it into a one-night stand and not a month long affair. Personally, I don't know if that is any better, but I do see why people would consider it better.

So, as far as the re-write goes...I suppose I just think of it as fixing previous errors...as Supreme Court overruling a precedent in order to prevent further damage in the future. Granted, I will be highly annoyed when and if the newly composed Supreme Court starts doing it, but I better not go there either. *sigh*

I have no excuse for the dog's name though, that is just plain unforgivable! :lol

And Jen...those damn dibs of yours, I think I've had at least twenty today. :rant

Well I loved Mallet with Dinah today. Does that mean anything? :lol

And I wasn't around for Marley so perhaps I should stay out of this, but I find it quite amusing when fan behaviors show up in the script. I love when Gus refers to the "Gus Bus" and all the little remarks about GL during "Light of Love" were priceless. :lol

As for rewrites, HATE THEM. Hey, I'm the girl who (usually) likes Cassie (though not as much recently)...who's currently with Jeffrey...who's had 17 different storylines - none of which have been completed btw - that nobody seems to care about either because they're afraid the "real" story when it's told will make him look bad...or they don't give a crap at all anymore. Or...most likely, that they never did!

Yes, I hate rewrites...and no writes. :lol

*sigh*

I'll get off my soapbox now. :)

I haven't seen Mallet's scenes with Dinah yet, but somehow I don't think I would like those two together.

I would love to see a relationshp develop between him and Blake though...I am getting so tired of Blake standing around doing nothing just because they don't want to break Bloss up. She at least needs to have an affair...it has probably been five years or so since the last time she did, so she is due for one.
