In Character

Name: Luna Lovegood

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Residence: Ottery St. Catchpole, Devon, England

Year: 6th Year

Blood: Pure Blood

Wand: 11 and a 1/4 inches, Rosewood, Unicorn Tail Hair

Appearance: Luna has the dreamy look about her, with Misty Eyes which look silvery-grey, her eyes are also known to be quite protruberant. Her hair which comes down to around her waist is dirty-blonde in colour, and can seem straggly. She has quite thin lips, which cover her small white teeth. Luna is quite a pretty girl but she has quite odd looks, with her very light coloured eyebrows which look as if they aren't there.

Luna is quite short for her age as she is only 5'4, though she is quite skinny. Quidditch isn't much of a hobby for Luna so she doesn't have a much of an athletic build. Luna has a small nose which is slightly straight, her skin is pale, a shade of milky white.

Luna doesn't really care about her image and will wear whatever, she chooses too. She keeps her wand behind her ear for safe keeping, and she also has a soft spot for her butterbeer caps necklace, which she wears sometimes. She also wears her radish earrings which she also likes. Luna likes odd pieces of jewellery, which she wears with delight though others don't find them as impressive as Luna does.

She likes to wear silver robes, like the ones she wore to Slughorns party. She also likes to wear Purple and Blue Robes when she's not in school, but when she is in school it's the normal Black Robes with the Ravenclaw Badge. Luna can look good when she makes an effort but she doesn't usually make an effort except for the Slughorn's Party incident when she looked very nice.

Personality: Luna is quite eccentric, and has her own beliefs, people call her odd for believing in what she does. She enjoys reading especially The Quibbler, her father is the editor of it. When Harry and his friends first meet Luna, she was reading the The Quibbler upside down. Luna's beliefs are based on Faith alone, not logic, that's why her beliefs are usually wrong but she doesn't like people telling her that isn't true.

Luna is often teased by others, they call her Loony Lovegood or just plain Loony. She doesn't take much notice of it really, people often steal her things and hide them away from her. Luna doesn't have alot of friends but she see's Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville and the rest of the D.A Students that fought with her in the The Hall of Prophecy's, as her friends. She did have a slight disagreement with Hermione Granger in her Fourth Year in the Hogs Head, they have settled their differences and are now better friends.

Luna isn't like alot of the Ravenclaw's, though she does have wit. Lots of people believe her too be very odd and strange, due to her absentmindedness and her unusual beliefs and conversations but she is complete sane. She too like Harry can see Thestrels, she told him that she had seen them since her first year, that's something the both have in common. She also has very blunt honesty, she will say things even if people haven't told her its true and she will know how they are feeling or what they are thinking.

Luna also believes Harry about everything to do with Voldemort and also asked him to do an interview for The Quibbler, the interview has since boosted it's sales and more people are beginning to read The Quibbler. Luna reads The Quibbler alot, as her father is the editor and she is often quick to defend it, if someone insults the magazine and what its about. Though the stories and articles are usually complete rubbish, Luna fully believes in them and she told the group that her and her Father were going to Sweden to catch a Crumple-Horned Snorkack, though they all knew that the creature didn't exist.

Luna is aware that she is teased, but doesn't take any notice of it, though her friends also call her Loony Lovegood, well Ginny did. Though many others tease her, so she doesn't seem to care what they think. She does believe to many things that are written in The Quibbler though, that's why her beliefs are more faith that logic, though she probably does know that not all of her beliefs are true.

Luna is a friendly girl to those who know her, many people just see her and find her odd straight away but those few see beyond the strange beliefs and weird jewellery. She is quite outspoken and likes to speak her mind, especially about The Quibbler. She is very dreamy and often speaks in a dreamy tone, she acts sometimes as if she just turned up somewhere by accident. She is quite a Talented Witch who shown some of her full potential at The Battle in The Hall of Prophecy's, and also at D.A meetings and lessons.

She very much enjoyed D.A and said it was like having friends. She also likes Quidditch, when Ravenclaw aren't playing Gryffindor, she fully supports Gryffindor and their team. She doesn't like Slytherin team much and she often wears Hats to support Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. One hat which was a large Lion that actually roared, it was slightly over the top but Harry, Ron and Hermione didn't seem to mind.

History: Luna Lovegood was born on November 11th, 1981, to her proud parents Iris Lovegood and Caiden Lovegood, Luna was an only child and her parents treated her like a Princess, her life was always pleasant from the beginning her parents always treating her with all the love and care they had.

Iris Oliver and Caiden Lovegood met while they were at Hogwarts, Iris was a very talented Witch who played Seeker for the Hufflepuff House Team and she was also the Sixth Year Female Hufflepuff Prefect. Caiden however was the Hogwarts Head Boy and played Keeper for the Gryffindor House Team. When they both left Hogwarts, they started dating and several months later they got married. Iris was a successful Spell Developer and Caiden had just become a trainee for The Daily Prophet, and a year later they had their daughter.

Luna wasn't like the other children at a young age, she would often stay indoors and watch her mother and father work. Her father would often stay up late writing articles and her mother would be writing down incantations on a small piece of parchment, Luna had alot of curiosity about their jobs, they were her role models, she always looked up to them.

On one fateful day when she was nine years of age, her mother had be trying out an incantation that she had made up, and that incantation backfired on her causing her to die a very very terrible death but unknown to her mother, like every single day, Luna had been watching. Luna didn't talk much about her mother's death, it was like a part of her had died when her mother did. Her father quit his job at The Daily Prophet and began working for The Quibbler, which was a new magazine recently released.

When Luna turned eleven, she received a letter from Hogwarts asking her to go learn Magic there. Her father was of course pleased for his only daughter, she was the only memory of Iris he had and he always looked after her with care and all the love he possessed. So Luna and her father went shopping in Diagon Alley, it was alot different from Ottery St. Catchpole where she lived. She bought her needed supplies and on the 1st of September, he wished her luck as she took off for her journey to Hogwarts.

Soon after Luna was sorted into Ravenclaw, she hadnt had really had any friends. Many people teased her even in her First Year, though Luna didn't take much notice of it and she wouldn't know that it would get even worse when she got older. When Luna came back home she was relieved, she was happy to be with her father and happy to escape the voices of the unaccepting people who had made her first year a slight misery.

Her second year was slightly different, the return of Sirius Black hadnt at all fazed her. She had become more dreamy in that year, which made teachers quite upset with her for acting so carelessly in class. She would not take any notice of the things going on around her, and would let her imagination take her to another undiscovered place. She had befriended Ginny Weasley in that year, so she believed to have made a new friend when really Ginny would sometimes call her Loony Lovegood, nothing much really happened in her first two years it was just school and daydreaming, she also started reading more of The Quibbler, her father was newly elected Editor.

Her Third Year, was the Triwizard Tournament year, this is when her life started becoming more interesting. Still 'Loony Lovegood' to most people, it didn't really faze her as much as before, she had learnt to ignore them and drown them out. She knew they were just insecure and didn't have their own beliefs like hers, they just followed the crowd and probably become unsuccessful in life. She began taking more notice in class, as her father had told her, if she didn't learn at Hogwarts then what will be the point of going. Luna didn't want to stop going to Hogwarts, though she wanted to stay and search for creatures for her father, she needed to improve her magic and if she didn't then she wouldn't be able to do anything in the Wizard World unless she become a Squib and she didn't want that to happen.

In her Fourth Year she met Harry Potter, 'The Boy Who Lived', she didn't give him and his friends they best first impression though but she wasn't expecting much from him, she wasn't expecting him to like her and find her 'normal'. During the middle of the Year she heard about Dumbledores Army or D.A for short, she was very interested in this 'club' she decided to join. Her time with the D.A had been the best time in her life since the time her mother was still alive, she had learned so much Dark Arts protection and things that she wasn't currently learning in DADA which was currently being taught by Dolores Umbridge at that time, who wasn't exactly teaching anything. Though one day she was needed, Her, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Harry Potter, Neville Longbottom and Ginny Weasley fought in The Hall of The Prophecy's, that day Harry Potter also lost someone very dear to him and Luna felt she was able to connect with him, as they both seen people die and they had both lost someone so important in their lives. Both the people who died, where irreplaceable and she felt that Harry might be able to talk about what happened there, after that incident she had felt closer to them and she felt like she had real friends, people she could get on with. When she left Hogwarts in the Summer, her and her father went to Sweden to look for the Crumple-Horned Snorkack, though they didn't find it unfortunately.

Nothing much happened in her Fifth Year, she took her O.W.L's, though the death of Dumbledore upset her very deeply as he was the Headmaster and she also looked up to him. Luna's year had past without not many interesting things happening, she didn't see as much of Harry and the rest of the D.A members. She was also very looking forward to seeing if D.A would be coming back but unfortunately it didn't which dampened her hopes slightly. She was also very pleased when Harry asked her to come to Slughorns Christmas Party, which she was excited about and she also made an effort to look nice, she wore silver robes which she though looked good.

Now Luna is in her Sixth Year and had recently received her O.W.L results.

Role play sample: Luna eyes flashed for a few moments, the boy had insulted her and her father, and that was all that she could take. He had insulted all she had lived fo,r her father and The Quibbler, her beliefs always stood by them and she didn't like this boy talking about it in such a way.

She grabbed the boy by the scruff of the neck "Don't you dare insult my father, you pitiful weed" she said, her hand tightened around his neck, like a noose.

The boy laughed "Loony Lovegood, your father is a fool who writes nonsense", he smirked at her for a few moments not feeling at all scared by Luna.

Luna felt a wet tear roll down her face, she quickly wiped it away with her free hand, this boy didn't know what he was talking about, he was misunderstood, he was just saying this to tease her. Her father had never been a fool, he was her role model, the person she turned to when her mother died, she didn't want some person to insult him when he hadn't done anything to this mess of a child. Her hand let go of his small, hunched figure and the boy slowly dropped to the ground, gasping for breath. He looked towards his friends and smiled, he thought Luna had given up and he thought she wouldn't get him back for taking his teasing a step further.

"See guys, she doesn't do anything, stupid little Loony and her stupid oddball father" he laughed again, he had done it then, he had taken it another level further.

Luna's hand squeezed tightly into a fist, and she threw her hand, right into his jaw "I told you ..., you over stepped the line, I told you .. but you didn't listen, you kept pushing it" she stuttered as more tears fell down her face.

The loud jeers of the crowd was becoming apparent, she could hear the echo of "Miss. Lovegood, what have you done?" Luna looked up, her eyes misty and wet "Professor, he insulted me, he called my father a fool, Professor ...." she stopped what was the point of rowing when the Professor would just tell her to be quiet. The Professor looked at her sternly for a few moments "Miss. Lovegood that is unacceptable behaviour from you, I have always expected alot better, 5 points from Ravenclaw" said the Professor.

The professor then quickly turned her head towards the sniggering boy on the floor "Oates get up, you silly child, you should never insult anyone else" the boy interrupted her rudely "Professor, Loony is mad, she's always reading that stupid magazine like it's The Bible or something, I was only telling her the truth". The Professor gave him an odd look, obviously she was angry with his interruption "You should keep silly opinions like that to yourself, Miss. Lovegood is allowed to read it if she wants" the teacher stopped, as she thought for a suitable punishment for the boy "5 Points from Slytherin and you also can help the Care of Magical Creatures Professor clean out the dirty tubs" she said, not at all impressed.

The boy got up off the floor and gave Luna a look of pure hate, he leaned in towards "Your lucky the Professor was there to help you, if you were alone I would of hurt you ... bad" he said with a smirk before leaving the Entrance Hall.

"Miss. Lovegood please go back to your common room and pull yourself together" she said with a comforting smile, Luna looked at her for a few moments "Yes Professor" she said as she quickly left the Entrance Hall.

((Most of this is true from things from the books and websites, though names of people such as the parents, date of birth, pet name and her wand are fictional, because I don't know those exact details. Hopefully it's enough but if you need more info just let me know and I will add on more :) ))
