Letters to TPTB I have finally gotten the chance to sit down and write a heartfelt letter to TPTB (I know, I'm a little late), and I think it would be a good idea for people to share some of their letters to hopefully inspire people to write their letters (or second or third letters). It's also nice to be able to see P/J through other's eyes, I don't know about you, but I love reading other people's comments defending OFC. Makes me want to applaud, even though no one will hear... Anyway, here's my letter, hopefully it'll get the ball rolling. Don't be shy, you're preeching to the choir so we'll agree either way! Dear the powers that be at the WB:         I write to you concerning your show, "Dawson's Creek", and more specifically, Pacey and Joey. I'm sure you've probably received many letters already about the opposing sides of the famous love triangle between Dawson/Joey/Pacey, where people have been pleading their case for their favourite couple and why you should keep/put them back together. Now it's my turn.         I have to be honest, I never really watched Dawson's Creek until the middle of season three, because frankly, I found it much like a soap opera (which I detest). I still think the show isn't that great, but now I watch it for the sake of Pacey and Joey. What attracted me to them first was their chemistry, I was flipping through and caught them on screen together (If nothing else, please put them in plenty of scenes together next season, it would be such a shame not to see these two together on screen). As I continued to watch, I decided to find out more about their story (mostly on the net) and the more I found out about them, the more fascinated I became with their story, the "snap crackle and pop of their repartee" as they put it. Their banter coupled with their best friend Dawson, Joey's supposed "soul-mate", who stood in their way gave them an amazing love story, which was drawn out beautifully in the third season. Every scene they had together, every line they spoke to each other made me want to see them together more!         Unfortunately, I was almost completely disappointed with season four. Aside from the few memorable and touching moments they shared together, it seemed that their entire relationship was a just set-up for the horrifying season finale (which I refused to watch, after learning from an American friend what happened). It is really too bad that Pacey and Joey weren't given a proper opportunity to flourish, they had so much potential! They could have been the most amazing couple ever to grace the silver screen. I know that there are a lot of Dawson and Joey fans out there who enjoy the fact that they are "meant to be" because they are "soul-mates" since they have been best friends all their life. Personally, I think the more compelling story is the one of two people going up against fate, who have so much passion and still have a strong foundation of love, and willing to hold on to each other to be together at all costs--including the loss of friendship. I only wish that Joey was more independent from Dawson. Then Pacey would be more confident in Joey's love, and Joey would not need to reassure him every week.         Although I know the premise of this show is Dawson and Joey, I still have faith in Pacey and Joey, because they have something special, something I would be happy to even have a fraction of. Their tale of true love is one so incredible, it is worthy of the movies, or some piece of high class romantic literature--a rare thing to find on television. Sincerely, Claire Pacheco -------------------- |

Re: Letters to TPTB
I have written numerous letters and emails, but I thought I would just post a little one I emailed yesterday to the faces@thewb.com. It's easy to do and takes very little time. Go show your support!
This email is to express my disappointment with the direction that Dawson's Creek seems to be going. I have enjoyed watching this show for many years now. Joey and Pacey were Wednesday nights for me, even before they got together in Season 3. They captured so many people's hearts and it was wonderful watching their romance on screen. They share such an incredible chemistry that is rarely found on a television program. I am waiting for an incredible Joey and Pacey reunion! I have never watched Dawson's Creek for Dawson and Joey. They lack the chemistry and are better off as friends. Please listen to the fans and help us get Pacey and Joey back together. Last year I was so excited for DC to start. This year that excitement has been replaced with disappointment. With them apart, I have no reason to look forward to the new season. Thank you for listening. |
