Leonard De Quirm's Inventions
More specifically, the names of the inventions. What have been some of you favorites? There's too many to make a poll.

There's one I'm thinking of, but I can't remember it exactly, so I'll look it up and come back later.

The coffee machine...just for the idea that it nearly blew up Vetinari. (I think I'm thinking of the right one here...not sure). The man spends all that time playing at politics and then it all could have ended with a terminal caffeine overdose.

The one that I like is the Engine for the Neutralising of Information by the Generation of Miasmic Alphabets

(ENIGMA <grin>)

Re: Leonard De Quirm's Inventions
i think BSJ's best invention was the fish pond. 20 feet long, and 2 inches wide, with all the trout stuck at 1 end cause they can't turn around.

that, or his shower that they found boarded up in the UU..... good times... the ArchChancellor thought he had struck gold, ....... for about 10 minutes

The trout pond or whatever was awfully good! The Hoho too, lots of great masterpieces on the palace grounds.

Re: BSJ inventions
A haha was a little ditch with a mound in front, which Victorians sometimes had at the in their gardens. Sometimes they used it to spy on approaching people.
The hoho is in the patricians gardens and is a little deeper. Doctor Cruces fell in it in M@A and had to be rescued by a ladder.

My favorite was when he explained that his boat went underwater completely submerged in the marine life... so he was, of course, calling it the going-underwater-without-drowning-machine

I lost the quotes around it because it was such a horrible misquote.

Re: invention
Another great name is The Eagle in TLH... simply because it was so unexpected.
