Lefty Reliever
I wasn't sure if I was allowed to make a new topic, but I decided the worst that could happen is it getting closed, so here I go.

Ok, I know I don't trust any lefty in the pen, I don't know about all of you though. One guy I don't her mentioned that we might/should go after is B.J. Ryan. This guy is a strike out god (ok maybe not god, but he has almost a K per inning). I know the Orioles want to build for the future, but they already have a lot of veterans, and perhaps the JD and Crew could somehow manage to pry Ryan from them. I think he is one of the better lefty relievers in the majors and we could definately use a good south paw.

Re: Lefty Reliever
We had one and we let him go to KC. 2.29 ERA he has there too.

Re: Lefty Reliever
you are obviously referring to jaime cerda.

i have no remorse over the mets sending him away. first of all, he was absolutely HORRIBLE for the mets in 2003 and he flat out refused to accept a winter ball assignment to work on his game.

im sorry, but if you suck and your team asks you to work on improving and you refuse, you have written your own ticket elsewhere.

and as i looked at his stats from this year, its a miracle he has an era in the low 2's. his K/BB ratio is 1 to 1 and his whip is near 1.5.

Re: Lefty Reliever
Well a LOT of Mets were horrible in 02. The team was a quagmire of resentment and division and derision. After the purge things are obviously a lot better. I do agree with you about his refusal though. I did know about it and I didn't like it. But to be fair, we've only heard the Mets side of the story.

Re: Lefty Reliever
Ryan is one of several Lefties i would rather go get then people like Benson who would be gone after seasons end.

I'll try and come up with alist of people in whome i think we should get. But i agree completely with you on Ryan.
