Lee's Computer / Access
Lee, I'm not sure if you saw the post I recently made, but considering your recent job switch and lack of computer access, I wanted to do something for you..

I, being the computer geek that I am, tend to acquire bits and pieces here and there, and friends tend to drop off their old machines when they're cleaning out their garages and so forth.

Anyways, getting to the point -- I'm willing to try and put together a working computer for you. It wouldn't necessarily be top of the line, or the fastest thing with a hard drive, but it *would* work as a basic workhorse that would allow you to get online and continue to post.

Alayne has offered to pay for the shipping to get the machine to you. I'm willing to put the machine together
for free, out of the acquired bits I have around here.

However, before I do something, I don't want to just send someone a computer without them knowing -- If for some reason you don't actually *want* one, I'd hate to send you one and so forth. However, this is something that I and the rest of the crew can get behind to ensure that we continue to have contributions from a good friend and a valued crewmember, so I think we're all willing to put something into this.

Anyways, let me know what your thoughts are on this.
We look forward to seeing you back on the ship as soon as possible

Scott

Re: Lee's Computer / Access
Hi Lee and Scott,

I too have many bits and pieces for computers. Scott if there is anything you need or maybe we can compare notes on available compontents, if Lee accepts your offer, I would be glad to help out.

Re: Lee's Computer / Access
Well, if I go with as much of a system as I have, I can put together at least a 166mhz, with possibly a 233mhz. Not bad, but not great.. However, if I could get an Atx case, I could most likely put together a Celeron 366, or possibly a PII 500. Unfortunately, I don't seem to find many Atx cases, which is where my shortage comes from.. Once we've got the mobo and cpu figured out, we can work from there. :)

Re: Lee's computer access:
While the offer is wonderful, & greatly appreciated, I must beg off, for the time being. There are too many things we need, & if I got a home PC, my wife would make me sleep with the dogs.

No problems, Lee.. just as long as you understand that the offer still stands. :)
