Latest egg carving project
This is a basket style carved emu egg featuring a turtle within a turtle, symbolizing not only long life, but also continuation of the species or family line.
It was inspired by Australian Aborigine art.
One thing that I find interesting is that many of the Aborigine "totems" are similar to other ancient cutures, if not in actual design, in legend.
THose are gorgeous, Myra........do you use a dremel to carve them...........I would love to get my hands on one and try it out.........they are so naturally beautiful!!!!!

Emu eggs have three layers of color. The outer shell is a green so dark that it looks almost black on some eggs. The inner shell is a teal or lighter green and there may be as many as 7 layers of this color with minute shade differences. The innermost shell is white.
