Vern Brinerwitz walked into the office, coffee in hand. He sat down in his plush desk chair, his stout body reeking of aftershave. His fingertips ran across the keyboard as he started to run the morning checkups on the colony. Screen after screen crossed his gaze, “Good, good, good…what the hell…?” One of the windows caught his eye, it was a scan from outside of the colony. What he saw made his jaw drop. Nearly a thousand men were finishing up their work on what seemed to be enormous engines covering nearly half the colony. “What the hell is going on around here?!” Vern said as he rose from his seat, slamming his fists on the desk. He opened a com-link to some of his men, “Man your suits! Make sure those bastards don’t leave!” His eyes were full of hate and confusion, “Who are these people and what did they do to my colony?”

Auray stood on the bridge of the Valiturus II. He starred out the window and watched the work being completed on the colony. There was a series of flashes coming from the docking bay. “Hey, zoom in on that.” Auray ordered a tech. The Taurus’s he had just recently acquired from the last mission were being piloted out of X-10 and looked to be heading straight for the workers. “Vern, you pompous fool,” he muttered to himself. Auray took off at a full run down the halls and pulled out his personal com and linked himself to the bay, “Ready Pondera.” The tech on the screen nodded. He burst into the docking bay to see the tech leaning against the foot of Pondera Vita with the zip line swinging next to him. Auray reached out and grabbed the line that brought him up to the cockpit. “This is the last straw, Vern. You’ve gone too far this time.”

Outside X-10, workers were packing up the equipment and flying back into the transports. Multiple suits come from underneath and quickly surrounded them. The men looked around in confusion, wondering what was going on. Vern’s face came on the foreman’s com-screen, “Just what in the hell do you think you’re doing to my colony?!” The foreman was taken aback, “My orders were to finish this job by today…” “For who?!” barked Vern. “For a…Mr. Auray Ertaize.” As if on cue, Pondera Vita stopped in the middle of everything and opened a link to the suits, the foreman, and Vern. “What’s going on here?” questioned Auray, though knowing full well what was about to happen. “Sir, our work here is done, we’re just about ready to leave,” Spoke the foreman. “Auray! What right do you have to order construction on my colony?!” Vern shouted as his face flushed red with anger. Auray sneered in response and turned his attention to the pilots of the suits, “What are all of you doing here?” “Nobody’s going anywhere unless Vern says otherwise,” one of them spoke up. “Really?” Auray said in a slightly amused voice as he cut off the links. Pondera Vita’s verniay wings fired up as it flew past the closest Taurus, swiftly cutting it in half with a flick of its linear pike. The rest of the suits broke off from the formation around the workers and made a bee-line for Pondera. Auray’s quick trigger-finger made short work of the closest two as he plugged three shots from his linear rifle into each of their torsos. A stream of fire erupted from Pondera Vita’s right forearm aimed into the explosion. The suits flew right through the debris and straight into the fire, just as Auray expected them to. Pondera’s active cloak closed over it and in both hands it yielded its melee weapons. Flying straight for the distraught suits it cut the two on the sides in half and body rammed the one in the center. Grabbing the Taurus by the head, it jammed its cold, titanium fingers into the chest around the cockpit. Pondera began to squeeze tighter, making the suit twitch slightly as the pilot was crushed inside. Five more Taurus’s exited the bay and fired at Pondera. “Christ, I just got those suits,” Auray mumbled to himself, hating the thought of destroying newly attained equipment. Two of the suits flew right at him firing their weapons with wild abandon. Pondera’s arm lifted and fired a thin beam, freezing both the suits weapons and arms wielding them. Auray’s MS flew past them both and chased two more Taurus’s. Grabbing them by the arms and dragging them around like rag dolls, Pondera threw them both at the remaining suit. Auray quickly fired his NPL as the suits collided, causing them to freeze together. Pondera Vita had its buster rifle pointed at the cluster when Vern appeared on Auray’s screen, “I want to see you in my office now!”
Auray decided against annihilating them and headed into the docking bay. He patched a link to a tech inside, “Open the doors to the residential area.” “Sir, I can’t let your mobile suit in there.” “Do it!” shouted Auray. The doors opened and Pondera Vita flew over houses and buildings until it reached Vern’s office. Auray hit a few buttons and Pondera hovered next to the building. The cockpit slowly opened and he stepped out, standing mere feet from the tinted glass. On the other side Vern Brinerwitz stood starring at Auray, “What’s he do…Jesus Christ!” Vern yelled, jumping behind the desk as bullets riddled the panes of glass. “You’re insane!” He called out. The windows shattered as Auray came crashing through, pistol in hand. He calmly walked over to Vern and stood over him, “What was that?” “I…I…I said, you’re going insane!” Auray gave him a mock sympathetic look, “Insane? It’s you who’s about to loose your mind.” With that he raised his handgun to Vern’s head and pulled the trigger, splattering brain matter across the floor. Just then the door burst open as two guards stepped in. Auray turned to look at them and holstered his weapon, “Clean this up,” he ordered. The guards looked to their new leader and then to Vern’s pudgy, motionless body. “I never liked him anyway,” said one to the other. Auray walked over to the window and stopped, “Oh, and I want someone to patch the colony’s systems through to my ship. I want the funds transferred first thing.” Both the guards nodded and Auray jumped back out through the window into his mobile suit and took off.
