how taunt works as I understand it is that it puts you just above the highest person on the hate list, so there's no need to repeatedly hit it.
good times to hit the taunt button is when the npc turns to someone else in the group or right after trigger_happy_wizard01 overnukes.
I suppose taunting constantly will do the same job.. but sometimes you hit taunt then the npc turns away and you gotta wait for it to refresh to get it's attention again... the wizards love that

In a perfect world, taunt will always work. However, and especially at higher levels, taunt starts to work less and less. I am hammering away at the taunt key everytime the button refreshes, to try and keep myself at the top of the hate list. But, you're right, it's kinda hard when you got a twitchy wizzy thinking he's gonna make the fight shorter by nuking harder. hehehe
