Interesting book for artists and general creativity...
I read this a few months back and got a lot out of it.
How to think like Leonardo da Vinci. (Link taken from the Amazon.com site where you can read some sample pages.)
It highlights the 7 areas where Leonardo looked for excellence and insight in;
Curiosità—An insatiably curious approach to life and an unrelenting quest for continuous learning.
Dimostrazione—A commitment to test knowledge through experience, persistence, and a willingness to learn from mistakes.
Sensazione—The continual refinement of the senses, especially sight, as means to enliven experience.
Sfumato (literally "Going up in Smoke")—A willingness to embrace ambiguity, paradox, and uncertainty.
Arte/Scienza—The development of the balance between science and art, logic and imagination. "Whole-brain" thinking.
Corporalita—The cultivation of grace, ambidexterity, fitness, and poise.
Connessione—A recognition of and appreciation for the interconnectedness of all things and phenomena. Systems thinking.
There are some explanations, extrapolations and some 'workbook' style exercises in the book, also some general background on The Renaissance, what it meant and how it has profoundly influenced not only art but science and philosophy to this day.
Strongly recommended.
