I have been Banned
As you may or may not know, I have of late been involved in a very intense debate, against Karen Traviss, Ryan Kaufman, Pabawan, and Dark Moose, concerning elements of the EU and fan interpritation of the saga as a whole. For more on the actual debate, check here: blogs.starwars.com/JackBauer24/18
Some of it involves the responses in that blog, but the bulk took place in the others listed. Pabawan's was the most recent.
In any event, I was extremely soured towards the Mod community as a whole. Even though I attempted to be civil throughout most of it, I was constantly shoute down and accused of flaming (frankly, Dark Moose came far closer to flaming than I ever did.) Last night, I posted my own blog, recapping the whole debate, and noting the Mod's questionable behavior, in the politest terms I could. I also apologized for the several instances when I was less civil than I should have been. Nevertheless, Dark Moose summarily blocked the blog, warning me never to post on the subject, or critisize someone in my blog ever again. I was angered, sure, but I realized that I was on dangerous ground, and the debate had long reached an impass, so I decided to drop it.
However, this afternoon, after coming home from school, I discovered that I had been frozen over the night, with no explanation. From some posts in the remaining blog threads still open to debate, it seems that I was in fact banned by a Mod, along with two or three others, simply for being on the wrong side of the debate (admittedly, the others were more flamish than I.) Dark Moose then posted a decree, essentially stating that any more disent on the subject against the Mods and VIPs would be met by immediate banning. You might still be able to find the account on Traviss or DM's blog, but the evidence may have already been erased (I know several opposition post already have.)
Right now, I am awaiting explanation for my banning (and whether or not it is indeed permanent) in Forum Feedback. Admittedly, I stepped over the line and took the debate farther than necissary, but I never violated any forum rules. I never flamed anyone, I followed the orders of the Mods when directed against me directly.
More information as it comes. And I'm sorry if this reflects badly on the Webchat community, I never intended it to go so far.
Debating things can be a very sensitive thing, especially if you're very passionate about your own opinion. I've been involved in my fair share of debates in the past and I've simply come to the conclusion that you can't change another person, or persons', mind simply because you have a differing point of view. And like I said, when people are so passionate about what they believe is right, things can turn ugly, very quickly.
It's why I personally don't get involved in debates anymore. I'm quite content to state my opinion, and if someone disagrees with me, well that's the end of it right there. We've both had our say, and it's time to move on.
I'm not saying all people should adopt my mannerism when it comes to different points of view. But perhaps if there's anything you can take away from this, it's knowing when the time comes to defend your opinion and when the time comes to let it go.

Please, those who see this, tell the chatters that I enjoyed the time I spent in the chat thread, and that I will miss them all. It's been fun. I'll still be here for the Silly War, but I fear it will not be the same.

It's not the end ya know. There is one way you could come back. But it would be expensive and it might take a while. All you would have to do is get another computer with a different IP and sign up under a different name.
But that's only if you wanted to do that, and I'm assuming you don't. Why would you want to after getting mistreated so much?

Alas, my Lord, your dark teachings have not effected me that much.
But really, even if my rights by that very boards own policies have been violated, and I am in my rights to violate theirs now, I will not. Call it a symbolic gesture. I want to show, in my own way, that even if they might abuse their power, I will not compromise my integrity.

Anyway.
I miss having you on the chat thread a lot. Yes, I really do, even though I havenīt been there myself for a couple of days. It was fun talking to you these past nine months, or at least I think they were nine. I hope you can still hang around here.

I'm certainly hang around here, for as long as this place actively exists I would guess. There are many things yet to be done.
