I can't believe I've found this!
Several times a year I check IMDB to see if there's any news about my all time favorite BBC mini series. When I went there today and learned about this site I was thrilled! I thought I was the only "crazed fan" of this series and it's great to know there are more of us out there.

I first saw this version of Jane Eyre on my local (Baltimore, MD) PBS station in 1982. I'm embarrassed to admit I'd never even read the novel at that time but I was astonished with how rich the story and dialogue was and how beautifully Cusack and Jayston played Jane and Rochester. My husband and I actually bought our first video recorder (about $500 as I remember) so we could tape it. I enjoyed my copy for many months then loaned the tape to a friend who accidently taped over about two hours of it(!) I've been trying ever since to find another copy.

Of course I read the novel soon after seeing the series the first time and it became one of my all time favorite books. I've read it at least 4 times in the last twenty years and have also co-led several "great books" seminars on it for homeschooled teens. How I've longed to have this version of the novel to show them!

Anyway, I'm glad to have found this site and glad to know there are other fans of this fabulous version out there. I cannot believe the BBC has never brought it out commercially. It's really one of the best classic novel adaptations they ever did, and that's saying something.

Welcome!
I'm glad you found us out! :) It's so nice to talk to other fans. Certainly no one that I know has ever seen it- which is why I am now trying to get anyone and everyone to try it.

I feel so glad to not have had to wait all of these years. I only found out about this production this year. If and when it does come out on DVD I hope it will be less than 30 years from now. ;)

Have you seen Thisbeciel's website? It has some wonderful screencaps!

Yay! A new member! Welcome and Hi!

Have you seen the first episode of the miniseries about Jane's childhood? No one I know has, and I would love to get a description of what happens in it, and how the actors live up to the parts. But I am sure they did an excellent job in that episode as in all the others.

No I haven't. . .
seen the first episode. I didn't even know it existed until reading about it on IMDB a few years back. When I first saw the series on PBS in the early 80s it started with the second episode. Although I'd never thought of it, after learning about the existence of the first episode I could see that the series started "abruptly" with the jarring intro of the second episode.

Oh I hope that someday I'll be able to see the first!
