How are things aroung here?
Are you seeing any improvement in orders for TGW, et al? The board activity seems to be down.

Maybe I should get another game going with narration, and spark some activity... Have there been many people looking for games? Everything is (almost) back to normal since Hurricane Rita, so TGW is once again on the to-do list. Along with getting a job, but first things first... :D

Pete and I are actively playing. Pete is also playing Denis. Denis was looking for opponents not too long ago.

I'm also playing the BigDawg...

3 active games for me.... though JWL has me on the ropes... probably should concede, but I feel stubborn for some reason.

How many other TGW games are underway right now?

who has played it? Who wants another game?

I can take another game or two, if there are others still looking.

Let's see if you have better luck this time around, Pete. Be warned, though, my Germans have their Kraut-strut going. Should be hard to stop. ;)

looks like the Austrians have the Kraut strut going as well - the way they rolled over the poor ill treated Serbians. I think the benevolent Czar may have to intervene on the part of our maligned allies.

Speaking of the Tsar...
All you history nuts may find this interesting...

www.hymn.ru/index-en.html

This site contains multiple renditions of Russian and Soviet anthems. The anthem before the Communist takeover was called Bozhe, Tsarya Khrani, translated God Save the Tsar. Adopted in 1833, this replaced the melody more easily recognized as the British anthem God Save the King. Most of Europe in the 18th- and early 19th-centuries used the same song translated into their own language. (Which makes sense considering they were all monarchies from essentially the same bloodline.) The new tune "Russianized" the anthem, coinciding with the wave of nationalism sweeping across Europe.

Lenin did away with the hymn in 1918, along with most everything else in Czarist Russia, in favor of the more militaristic Anthem of the Soviet Union. This anthem was temporarily done away with after the fall of the Soviet Union, but was rewritten in 2000 with more freedom-loving (or capitalistic, depending on your point of view) lyrics.

Despite being included in many of Tchaikovsky's works, as well as adapted for several other uses, the anthem God Save the Tsar has virtually faded from memory.
