How Did I Fall In Love With You (NC-17) (10/15) Well I'm back with another one. Only this one isn't a one parter. I think this is about 13 chapters. I posted it over at PoTL and thought I'd bring it here. That, and Suzy said I should. I really suck at this blurb crap, so I'm going to shut up now. I hope you enjoy it! How Did I Fall In Love With You Joey sat on the edge of her bed with a photo album in one hand and a hand full of pictures to be put in the book in the other. She looked at each one carefully before putting them in their rightful place. A smile adorned her face as she passed each one. After she finished putting them all away she couldn’t help herself, she had to open it up and look at it from start to finish. She opened the cover and there they were, two five year olds smiling brightly on their first day of school, not a care in the world and everything was a nice and bright new experience for them. Turning the page she saw the pictures of her eighth birthday party, the birthday where he shoved her birthday cake in her face. Joey laughed at the memory. She remembered chasing him all around the house and when she finally caught him she smeared cake all over his face and throughout his hair. It had taken them almost two hours to clean the mess up, but it was well worth every minute it took to clean just by the expression on his face alone when she caught him. Page after page contained some sort of milestone in their friendship, some sort of milestone in their life. From the first day of school, to birthdays, to family picnics and just from being two children who were so close, that they were close like sister and brother. She smiled to herself as she continued to look at them, seeing how much they’ve grown in all the years they had been friends. He was no longer a skinny boy with unruly hair that loved to torment her. He was now a tall, handsome man who was her best friend. And she was no longer the too tall girl with unkempt hair that had a poor outlook on life. She was now a leggy brunette, who lived for the future. She came across the most recent entries, the ones she had just put in minutes before. They were pictures of them from this past summer. Pictures of them at the beach, picnics and pictures of them doing what they did best, goofing around. That was in large part what their friendship was based on, well in the beginning anyway. They always had a good time together, always made one another laugh, they always made each other feel good about themselves when no one else would. They were also there for each other during hard times. He had been there for her when her mother died, when her father was taken away to prison and he’d been there for her when she had her heart broken for the first time. He was her rock. The one she could always count on to be there for her no matter what, no judgements passed. She had always been there for him the same way he had been there for her. She was there for him when his family treated him badly and wanted nothing to do with him, when the people around town would call him names. She was there for him after he got his heart broken the first time. She was his light at the end of the tunnel, offering a shoulder to cry on, and an ear to listen whenever he needed it. A small tear escaped her as she remembered everything they had been through and how much they depended on one another. She didn’t know how she would be able to function on a daily bases without him. He was so much a part of everyday living that she didn’t know if it would be possible to do it without him. And yet she had to. She placed the photo album in the drawer of her nightstand and wiped the tears from her face with the palms of her hands erasing any signs of the tears that had been falling. A few moments later there was a knock on her bedroom door. Joey’s older sister/guardian Bessie poked her head in and looked around for Joey. “Hey Jo, he’s here.” Bessie said to her, her voice full of sincerity and compassion. She knew how much Joey had been dreading this day and wished there was something she could do to help. “Okay Bessie, tell him I’ll be out in a minute.” “He’s not in here Joey. He’s waiting out on the dock.” “Oh, okay.” Joey got up and left the house. She could see him sitting on the end of the dock with his legs dangling over the edge swinging back and forth, the way they always did when he had something on his mind. She walked up behind him saying nothing as she sat down next to him. The silence between the two was deafening. They were afraid to say anything to each other, both afraid of the words that had to be spoken. He looked over at her and waited for her to meet his eyes. When she did, she was met by the tears brimming his eyes and she couldn’t control the tears that stung the back of her eyes. “Hey, we promised no tears, remember?” She managed to choke out over the lump in her throat. “I know. I just didn’t think it’d be this tough, you know?” He said looking away from her and turning his gaze over the creek. “I know what you mean. I don’t think we’re going to be able to keep that agreement. I mean, I knew that you moving away was going to be tough, but now that it’s actually time for you to go, it’s killing me inside. I don’t know how I’m going to get through everything without you. I’m going to miss you so much.” “This isn’t easy on me either Joey. I’m dying inside to at the thought of not seeing you again for god knows how long. You have been with me through everything and I’m going to miss you more than I can express with words. You know I don’t want to move, but I have to go where my family goes.” “I know that. We’ve been through all of this already. It doesn’t mean it makes it any easier or any less heartbreaking.” “Heartbreaking, huh? If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you had a thing for me.” He winked at her trying to lighten the mood around them. “Oh yes. However will I live without you, the love of my life?” She rolled her eyes at him and nudged him playfully in the shoulder. They sat together in a comfortable silence for a long while staring out over the creek. The same creek that held so many wonderful memories for both of them, as children and also as young adults. He looked over at her with that famous twinkle in his eyes. She had seen that look probably a million times throughout their friendship and knew it only meant one thing. “So what do ya say, Jo? You wanna go, for old time sake?” He asked her as he stood up on the dock with his hand extended out to her for her to grab. “Oh, what the hell.” She accepted his hand and stood up. They went down the dock about half way, removed their sandals, joined hands and started running towards the end of the dock. When they reached the end they jumped in fully clothed forgetting everything around them, relishing in acting eight again and not having a care in the world. After splashing around and chasing each other trying to dunk one another they made their way out of the water. They were laughing so hard that they were both clutching their stomachs in attempt to ease the pain. Collapsing on a soft patch of grass each of them tried hard to regain control of their breathing, giggling every so often at their previous actions of moments before. “That was fun. When was the last time we did that anyway?” He asked her, rolling on to his side to look at her. “Too long ago. We should do that more often.” As soon as the words passed her lips she regretted them. Either one of them knew when they’d be able to do that again. “Yeah.” Was all he could say as he stood up and brushed the grass and dirt off of himself. “I should really get going now.” “Okay.” Joey stood up with his help. “Okay. No tears please, I don’t think I can handle that right now.” “I’ll try. I’ll talk to you soon, right?” “You bet.” “And you’ll call all the time?” “For sure.” “And you’ll write?” “Yep.” “And you’ll come back to visit me?” “You know I will. Anything else?” “Umm… Yeah. We’ll always be best friends, right?” “Why do I suddenly feel like I’m in the movie ‘The Fox and the Hound’?” He laughed at his weak attempt of humour. “Of course we’ll always be best friends, Jo. Who else would put up with us?” “Good point.” She nodded willing her tears to subside. “I’m gonna go now, okay?” “Okay.” She blinked fast in hopes that he wouldn’t see the tears that were about to fall. “Hey don’t cry Jo. I’ll be back and we’ll talk all the time.” He brought her body close to him and hugged her fiercely. “I love you Joey.” “I love you too.” She cried on his shoulder. He pulled away from her reluctantly and looked into her eyes, wiping her tears away with the pads of his thumbs. “I’ve got to go now Joey. Take care of yourself.” “You too.” “Good-bye Joey.” He said to her as he walked away towards his car that was parked in her driveway. She watched him drive away with a tear streaked face. “Goodbye Pacey.” Edited by: Angel608J at: 10/15/03 8:02 am |

Re: Hi Hey guys. Thanks for reading, re-reading, and replying. You're too kind. And Evie - Angsty? Me? Nah, I'm a warm and fuzzy girl all the way. Well here's the next part. I hope you enjoy it! Nine years later.... Joey raced around her house cleaning everything right down every last picture frame. She dared anyone to come into her house and find a speck of dust, but it still didn’t feel clean enough to her. Tomorrow was a big deal for her and she wanted everything to be perfect. Deciding that the carpets could use one more once over she went and got the vacuum out of the closet. Plugging it in, she vacuumed around the living room. “Up.” She ordered to her best friend and confidant of the last three years. “Joey. You’ve already cleaned this place from top to bottom. Why don’t you give it a rest for the day and enjoy it? My God, he doesn’t get in until tomorrow.” Danielle yelled over the noise of the vacuum cleaner. The two had met at a barbecue that a mutual friend was throwing. They hit it off from the start and have been friends ever since. Joey really admired Danielle for a number of reasons. She was always there for her no matter what no questions asked. She had a wonderful outlook on life, she rarely let anything get her down. It amazed Joey sometimes at how Danielle could be like that with some of the ridicule people would throw her way for being mulatto. It enraged Joey how small minded people were, but Danielle just shrugged it off and chalked it up to ignorance. Joey hit the power button off and fell on the couch next to her friend. Sighing she put her feet up on the coffee table. “I know Danielle. I just want everything to be perfect. I haven’t seen him in almost nine years.” “What’s so special about him anyway, Joey? I mean, you’ve talked about him in passing, but you’ve never went into detail about him and now you’re going all crazy trying to make everything perfect for when he gets here. So what’s up?” “He was my best friend for as long as I can remember. He was like the brother I never had and I was the sister he always wanted. We did everything together. We looked out for each other and we took care of each other.” “And then he moved, right? I think I remember you telling me something about that.” “Yeah he moved away when we were seventeen, just before our senior year started. I don’t ever think I’ve been more sad in my life than I was that day when he came to say goodbye.” “I’m sorry, why did he have to move again?” “That’s okay Danielle. We talk about a lot of things, I don’t expect you to remember every last thing we discuss. His father got a job offer Florida that he would have been stupid to refuse so he packed up his family and moved them out there.” “Wow. So you guys didn’t keep in touch?” “We did for a bit, but then school and life got in the way. The phone calls and letters became few and far between. We drifted apart. I guess that happens, even with the closest of friends.” “HEY! Don’t say stuff like that. You’re depressing me here.” “You know what I mean. Besides, you’re stuck with me.” “Who else would put up with you the way I do?” “The way you put up with me? Give me a break. Who is the one that eats all of her meals here, does her laundry, sleeps here at least four nights a week and hell you even have some of your mail coming here.” “And is there a point to all of this? You already know why I’m here so much. I’m here for the company. Which leads to me to my next question.” “And that would be?” “Does he know?” “Of course he knows. We still talked on occasion and would send Christmas cards and birthday cards. I would never be able to keep something like that from him, even if I wanted to. He doesn’t know everything mind you, but he knows the most important thing.” “Well I for one cannot wait to meet this guy. He is hot, isn’t he?” Danielle gave Joey the look. The look she always gave her when there was a possibility of a hot gorgeous guy. “Girl, you are too much. Would you like me to find a picture of him?” Joey asked her only kidding. “Hell yeah. You know me. When there’s a potential hottie involved I want to have me a little look.” “You know I was kidding, right?” “Well, do you have one?” “Of course I have one. I have lots, we did grow up together, you know.” “Well then get moving honey and break out the pics. I want to see this guy.” She tugged on Joey’s arm urging her on. Joey got up laughing at her friend and went and got the photo album off the top shelf of the closet in her bedroom. Joining Danielle back on the couch, she ran her fingers over the front cover. “God, I haven’t looked at this thing in years.” Joey said more to herself than to Danielle with a feeling of nostalgia coming over her. Opening the cover she showed Danielle Pacey and her as children and was telling the stories behind every one of them. Danielle growing impatient grabbed the book out of Joey’s hands. “Tell me you have some pictures of him in here of what he looked like before he left.” “Yeah there is, near the back.” Flipping quickly to the back pages Danielle stared at them in amazement. “Is that him?” She practically yelled at Joey pointing to the picture of her and Pacey where he had his arm casually slung around her shoulders. “Yeah, that’s Pacey.” “That’s him?” She asked her again. “Yes Danielle, that’s Pacey.” “Oh my fucking god. Holy shit. Would you look at that fine man?” She licked her lips as she continued drooling over his picture. “Danielle!!!” Joey looked at her with wide eyes. “What?” Danielle turned to her and gave her the same wide eyes. “Don’t do that. It’s only Pacey.” “Only Pacey? Have you gone and completely lost your fucking mind? My god woman, look at him. If he still looks anything like this now, I’m going to be spending even more time here.” “Oh great.” “Come on Jo. There has to be some story here. So did you and he, ever…you know?” She asked her raising her brow suggestively. “Did we ever what?” “You know. Was there ever anything between you two?” “GOD NO!! Danielle he was like my brother, that’s just gross.” “Never anything? Not a kiss, nothing?” She sighed with disappointment. “Sorry honey, nothing.” “I don’t know how you did it. If I were you, I wouldn’t be able to be that close to him and not do anything.” She said turning her attention back to the photograph. Taking a closer look at the picture, Danielle noticed something. She noticed a look in Joey’s eyes that she had never seen before. Joey's eyes told a story of a young woman who had her whole future ahead of her. She had an indescribable fire to them, with laughter and joy, nothing or no one could stand in her way. The sky was the limit. Now Joey's eyes told a different story. When you looked at her, you saw pain, sorrow, and the walls that she had built up. Walls that took even Danielle a long time to get through. Joey was very guarded now, she didn't let people close to her heart in fear of it being broken again. Looking from the picture to Joey she hoped that with Pacey returning, that he would be able to put that look back in her eyes. Pacey stood outside the Potter B&B looking at it for the first time in nine years. He noticed all the changes that had been made over the years, the new siding, the beautiful flowerbed that started in the front and made its way around the house. They had a different sign out front than they had before he moved away. The additions to the house looked wonderful. He smiled when he looked out over the creek and remembered all the summers they spent in the water. Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath he let the smell of his childhood home invade his senses as every wonderful memory came rushing back. Opening his eyes he scanned his surroundings taking it all in as if it were the first time he had been there. Now he wondered why he had stayed away for so long. He had planned on coming back, he promised he’d come back, but their letters and phone calls became less and less as time went by that it just didn’t feel right. He wasn’t sure when their friendship began deteriorating, he only knew it had and that’s why he had came back. He missed his best friend and wanted her back. When he heard that the Leery’s restaurant had been put on the market he knew he had to buy it. Pacey had been looking to open his own restaurant and hearing about Leery’s Fresh Fish was like a calling. Not only would it bring him back to his roots, it would also bring him back to Joey. It had taken all the money he had saved from working all those years and a small loan from the bank, but it was worth it to him. Taking a deep breath he walked up the front steps of the Potter B&B and knocked on the door waiting to see his best friend for the first time in nine years. He couldn’t help but smile, with all the excitement and nervousness going through his body knowing that he would see her again any second now. He felt like he was sixteen years old again going out on a date with the girl of his dreams. Hearing the door open he was met by an older, more beautiful Joey Potter than the one he left behind. He could see that she was just as excited and nervous as he was. He dropped his suitcase and enveloped her in the biggest hug lifting her up off her feet spinning them around in a circle. Joey squealed at his actions while wrapping her arms around his neck hugging him back fiercely. Finally setting her back down he looked at her and smiled. “Turn around and let me get a good look at you.” He took her by her hand and spun her in a small circle taking in all the changes her body had been through over the past nine years. She still looked great, but her body had filled out more in certain areas and Pacey nodded his head with approval. “God Jo, you look great.” “Your turn…spin.” Joey twirled her finger around in the air motioning for him to do the same thing she had just done. Taking in his appearance she noticed that he had obviously been working out over the years. The years had been kind to Pacey. He was nicely tanned and his body was more than nicely toned. Her eyes travelled down his body as his back was turned to her and she grinned thinking that he still had one mighty fine ass. “You don’t look to bad yourself, Pace.” She told him when he faced her again. “Come here you.” He pulled into another warm embrace and held her tightly telling her without words how much he had missed her. Joey pulled back slightly and looked into his wonderful blue eyes and she seen the same boy who had always been there for her. It was at that moment that she realized how much she truly missed him and needed him in her life. Standing on her tiptoes she kissed him on the cheek. “I missed you so much Pacey.” “I missed you too Joey. More than you will ever know.” Finally releasing her he bent over and picked up his suitcase. “Come on, let’s get you settled.” “Thanks again for letting me stay here for a bit Jo, the movers should have everything thing here in a week or so.” He followed her through the door and looked around the inside of the B&B whistling out loud at how great it looked. “Wow Jo, it looks great. I love what you’ve done with it.” He looked all around him as she showed him where he’d be sleeping while he was there. “Here you go. There are extra blankets in the closet if you need them. I’ll let you get settled and then we’ll talk and catch up, okay?” “Get settled? What the hell are you talking about? I’m settled.” He threw his suitcase on the bed and walked towards the door. “Now where is she, Jo? “Where’s who Pacey?” “Don’t you play games with me Joey. I want to meet this wonderful girl you’ve been sending me letters about.” “Oh, I’m right here.” Danielle announced walking in from the backyard taking in the sight of Pacey her eyes almost fell out of her head. ‘Damn the boy is fine.’ She thought to herself. Pacey looked at the woman who was now standing in front of him wondering who the hell she was, looking past her he saw who he was referring to. She stayed close by Danielle hugging her leg tightly while looking at the strange man standing in her house. “Come here honey, it’s alright.” Joey waved the little girl over. Reluctantly letting go of Danielle’s leg she walked over to where Joey and Pacey were standing. Joey held out her hand for the little girl to take, offering her some reassurance by giving it a gentle squeeze. Pacey looked at her with amazement, he had never seen a more beautiful child in his whole life. She had long chestnut brown hair, her eyes looked brown, but then they also looked grey, and she had a minimal amount freckles across her little button nose. He couldn’t wait to see her smile, but right now she was to busy playing shy to even look at him. “Honey I’d like you to meet my best friend from when I was a little girl. This is Pacey…and Pacey this is Cassie, my daughter.” |

Re: Awwww Here you go! Thanks for the replies. Sitting alone on the chair swing out back Pacey gently swayed back and forth enjoying the night air. He was waiting for Joey to join him after she got Cassie settled in bed for the night. After a short time Cassie had warmed up to Pacey and asked him all about his life, where he’d been and what her mother was like when she was little. Pacey had to laugh at how inquisitive Cassie was for only being five. She wanted to know anything and everything all at once. In that aspect she was nothing like her mother, when Joey was younger it took her a little longer to talk to someone she hardly knew. Listening to Cassie ramble on and on about school and how much she loved her teacher is what reminded him of Joey, she always loved school and would talk endlessly about it to anyone who would listen. Glancing to a spot in the backyard Pacey remembered how every summer they would pitch a tent and sleep out there almost every single night. It would have been every night until Bessie stopped them from sleeping out there when it was raining because one night they slept in the tent during a thunderstorm and they both ended up deathly sick afterwards. So when it was raining they would set up camp in Joey’s living room and sleep there. Bessie hated it, but it was either that or have two sick kids on her hands. “Hey.” Joey approached him eyeing the same spot Pacey was remembering the exact same thing he was. Handing him a cup of coffee she sat next to him on the swing. “Is she asleep now?” Taking the cup she offered him, he took a small sip and set the cup on his leg. “Yeah. Finally. You know Pace, Cassie and I do it now to.” She said to him signalling with her head over to the area where they use to sleep. “You do?” “Yeah we do, only we don’t spend the whole summer out here and the funny thing is, is that she wants to sleep out in the rain like we use to and now I’m the one telling her ‘no’.” “And did she take that as well as you did?” “Actually she was okay with it, which really surprised me. Here I was expecting her to put up this big fight like I did with Bessie and I didn’t get one.” “That’s odd that a child of yours wouldn’t put up a fight.” He joked with her drinking the rest of his coffee. “HEY! I resent that.” She nudged him in the shoulder playfully and looked at him with a look of mock hurt in her eyes. “Come on Jo. We both know how much you used to love to argue even when there was nothing to argue about.” “Yeah well, I’ve changed Pace. Having a child will do that to you.” “I guess so.” Looking up at the stars Pacey had so many questions running through his mind that he wanted to ask her, but didn’t know how to bring them up. He wanted to know how Joey Potter the girl who always vowed to leave Capeside ended up never leaving and on top of that ended up being a single mother. “So tell me Pacey, what have you been up to? How has life been to you over the past nine years?” She leaned forward with her elbows on her knees and cocked her head to look at him. “Not too much Jo. Went to the University of Miami after graduation, majored in business and here I am today, owning my own business. It’s good to know that all those years weren’t wasted.” “What about the in between Pacey? You had to of done more than just go to school, so tell me. I want details, don’t leave anything out.” “Honestly Joey, there’s nothing to tell. I went to school and worked. Sure I hung out with friends and stuff, but that’s about it. Sorry to disappoint you.” “Pacey, you know what I want to know. I want to know if there was ever anyone special.” “As in, girl special?” “Yes, was there or is there anyone special in your life Pacey?” “Not really. I dated and even lived with someone for about a year, but it didn’t work out. I guess I never really put forth the effort because somewhere deep inside I knew she wasn’t the one.” “So you’re still looking for ‘the one’ huh?” “Yeah, I guess I am.” He sighed heavily, looking down at his hands. “I’m sure you’ll find her Pace.” “And I’m sure you’ll find your Prince charming Joey.” “I don’t think so Pacey. I’ve given up on that a long time ago.” “Why?” He looked hard at her trying to figure out how a twenty six year old could have given up on love already. “Because.” She answered simply. “Because is not an answer Joey. Tell me what happened between you and Cassie’s father.” “What do you want to know?” She asked him sitting back on the chair. “I want to know everything, but right now I’ll settle for what you want to tell me.” “Well Mark and I met when school started after you moved away. He was new to Capeside and we just started hanging out. After a few months we were a couple and we fell in love. We went to BU together for two years and then I ended up pregnant with Cassie. We couldn’t understand how it happened because we were always so careful, but we decided that our only option was to have the baby. We rented a small apartment in Boston so that Mark could still go to school while I stayed home with the baby. I had planned on going back when she was a little older, but that never happened. First of all, I just couldn’t leave her. I couldn’t imagine going one minute without her. And secondly Mark and I broke up just before she turned one, so I had no choice but to move back here because I couldn’t afford the apartment in Boston by myself.” “Can I ask why you broke up?” Getting a distant look in her eyes Joey turned to face Pacey. “He didn’t love me anymore.” “Joey I’m sorry. But what about Cassie?” “Oh, he still wanted to be a part of her life and he is. It was me he didn’t love anymore.” Not knowing what to say Pacey simply reached over to Joey’s hand that was resting on her leg and held it in his own. They sat the with the fingers intertwined rocking back and forth looking into the night time feeling as though sitting there together like that was the most natural thing in the world. “Are you sure you don’t mind Danielle?” “Joey, how many times have I watched this adorable little girl of yours in the past? You know I love spending time with her, so go and help Pacey paint his apartment and if he needs a hand painting his bedroom you could always give me a call.” She winked at Joey. “Sorry honey, he’s already done his room. Okay Cassie, mommy is going to go and help Pacey for a little bit okay, so you’re going to stay here with Auntie Danielle and you’re going to make sure that she behaves herself, right?” Joey crouched down giving Cassie a hug and a kiss hearing her giggle in her ear. “Yes mommy, I’ll make sure Auntie Danielle is good.” “Okay Cassie go and play in your room and mommy will be back soon. Love you.” “Love you too mommy.” She called as she ran down the hall to her room. “Set up the play-doh mat honey and I’ll be right in to play with you.” Danielle yelled after her. “I’ll be back soon. Pacey wants to get this done before the movers get his stuff here next week and give it time to dry and get the smell out.” “It’s not a problem Joey. Now get going.” Pushing Joey out the door Danielle went to go and play with Cassie. Walking into Cassie’s room Danielle saw her sitting on the play-doh mat in the middle of the floor with an odd expression on her face. She sat down in front of her examining her face closely. Danielle had been part of this family long enough to be able to read Cassie’s facial expressions like the back of her hand. Cassie’s look right now was a scared one. “Cassandra, what have you done?” Cassie shook her head from side to side not saying a word. She knew that when her name was said in full that she was in trouble and when Danielle found out what she did, she would definitely be in trouble. “Cassie, answer me. What did you do? Just tell me and I can fix it.” “You’re gonna be mad at me if I show you.” “Try me. You know I could never be mad at you.” “Istuckplaydohupmynose.” She said quickly and very quietly. “I’m sorry honey, I didn’t hear you.” “I said. I stuck play-doh up my nose.” “YOU DID WHAT?” Danielle yelled in shock. “Cassandra Lillian Potter, what on Earth would possess you to do that?” She reached out and tilted her head back to see that there was in fact play-doh lodged up her nose. “I don’t know.” “Okay. Well there’s only one way to get it out. You’re going to have to blow it out. Just…” Before Danielle could finish her sentence she heard it. And then she felt it. Cassie had blown the play-doh out of her nose, landing it right on Danielle’s arm. Danielle shrieked in disgust looking at the play-doh that was now on her arm. “Okay now that was just gross.” She shuddered. Getting up she walked out of the room to get it off of her and clean her arm. Replaying the incident in her head Danielle couldn’t help but laugh. It was funny, gross, but funny. With tears in her eyes from trying to laugh quietly she took a few more minutes than necessary to compose herself. Going back into Cassie’s room she saw that all the play-doh had been picked up and put away and that Cassie was now sitting on her bed with a sombre expression. Cassie looked up at Danielle as she entered the room. “Are you mad at me Auntie Danielle?” She stuck out her lower lip and gave her the eyes. “Hmmm… Am I mad at you? Let me think about that for a minute.” Tapping her forefinger against her chin she pretended to think it over. “Auntie Danielle, you said you could never be mad at me, remember?” “Well that was before you used my arm as a Kleenex.” “I didn’t mean to.” “You didn’t, huh? And do you promise never to do it again? Sticking play-doh up your nose I mean.” Reaching the bed, Danielle sat next to her. “I promise.” “Good. Well then in that case, no I’m not mad at you.” She said as she started tickling her in all of her ticklish spots. They both continued tickling each other, playing, reading and watching movies that before they knew it Joey and Pacey were walking in the door. Joey went and sat next to them on the sofa giving Cassie a kiss on the top of her head. “How was she?” Joey asked Danielle setting against the cushions. After discussing it with Cassie, Danielle promised not to tell Joey about what had happened. Casting a knowing glance at Cassie. “She was great.” “Well kiddo, it’s way past your bed time.” “Mommy please can I stay up just a little longer? The movie is almost over.” Too tired to argue Joey agreed. “I’m going to go and take a shower.” Pacey announced leaning over the back of the sofa kissing Cassie on the cheek. “That’s just in case you’re in bed before I get out. Good night Cassie.” “Good night Pacey.” Reaching up she pulled his face close to her lips and kissed him on the cheek. “See you in the morning.” He said to her and disappeared down the hall. “I’m going to head home now Joey.” Danielle stood up and walked over to the door putting her shoes on. “You’re leaving? Are you feeling alright?” “Yes, I am feeling just fine, thank you very much.” “Then why are you leaving?” “I don’t know. I just feel like it. Why, are you afraid to be alone with that sexy, adorable man in there?” “Huh? N..no not at all. I’m just wondering why you’re leaving so willingly when I always have to force you to go home.” “Well I figure I’ve pretty much been here everyday since Pacey arrived and I really haven’t given you two a chance to catch up or a chance to get to know each other again, so I’m leaving.” “Danielle, you don’t need to go.” “I want to Joey. But, don’t you worry your pretty little head. I will be back tomorrow. I’m not going to let you hog that gorgeous man all to yourself.” Giving her a hug Danielle turned and walked out the door. Walking back to Cassie, Joey saw that the movie was just ending. “Come on you. It’s time for bed.” Taking her hand Joey walked Cassie into her room and pulled the blankets back for her to get in. Sitting next to her Joey reached over for the book of fairy tales to read her a bedtime story. After finishing the story Joey smoothed back her hair and kissed her forehead gently. Now it was time for their nightly ritual. “Good night Cassie.” “Good night mommy.” “Sleep tight.” “Sleep tight.” “Don’t let the bedbugs bite.” They said simultaneously and giggled. “I won’t mommy.” “I won’t either Cassie. I love you.” “I love you too.” “Sweet dreams.” “You to mommy.” Joey hugged Cassie not noticing Pacey standing by the door over hearing the whole exchange between them. Looking through the crack of the door, Pacey seen Joey hug Cassie and he felt his chest constrict and his stomach flip flop. |

Re: Awww Thanks for the replies. Enjoy! Watching her over the last few days Pacey couldn't understand the feeling that came over him when she was around him. Every time she looked at him, or touched him slightly his heart would skip a beat, his stomach would flutter, and his hands would get clammy. He was happy that he only had one night left to spend under the same roof as her. Maybe it was the close proximity that was causing him to feel this way, but maybe not. Joey was a beautiful woman after all and seeing her with Cassie made her even more beautiful. The way her face would light up at the mere mention of Cassie's name, the way her eyes would sparkle whenever she looked at her, the way she was so loving, nurturing, and tender when it came to that little girl astounded him. She always made sure she was there to tuck her in at night, and if Cassie was having a hard time sleeping she would cradle her in her arms and sing her a sweet lullaby. He always knew Joey had a lovely voice but nothing could compare to the tenderness and love that flowed through her lungs when she sang to her daughter. Maybe it was that, that made her look different to him. Maybe it was her being a mother that made him see her as the beautiful woman she was today rather than the beautiful young woman she used to be. Maybe…just maybe it was the fact that she was a beautiful woman inside and out. He couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was that was making him see her in a different light, all he knew was that she was invoking feelings inside of him that he had never felt before. Although the feelings felt wonderful and new, he also felt scared because he didn’t know what to do about them. Does he act on them? Does he let them slide? If he were to act on them, how would she respond? Would she hate him? Would she be willing to give them a chance? Would she be willing to open up her heart again? But then the question that he kept coming back to was what if it didn’t work? What about their friendship? Would there be anything left of it? Would acting on his feelings ruin the greatest friendship they have ever had or would it become the greatest love they have ever known? Walking into the kitchen where she and Danielle were making breakfast Pacey’s breath caught in his throat when he saw Joey with her arms stretched above her head reaching for the plates in the cupboard. His eyes started at her hands and travelled down her body coming to rest on the tiny area of exposed skin where her shirt had lifted up. As much as he tried he couldn’t tear his eyes from her creamy skin. “Well good morning hot stuff.” Danielle said, smiling at Pacey letting him know that she saw the way he was staring at Joey. “Morning beautiful.” He winked at her ignoring the little smirk she was giving him. Over the past few weeks Pacey had come to really enjoy Danielle. It bothered him a little at first how she would always ogle him and make silly little remarks, but he soon learned that that was just her way of kidding around. Now it was ongoing between the two of them all the time. “Hey Pace. Do you want some breakfast?” Joey asked him putting the plates on the table. “Nah, I think I’m going to head over to the restaurant.” “Come on Pacey please eat with us? You’re leaving tomorrow and I won’t be eating breakfast with you anymore. Please, for me?” Cassie pouted at him. Not being able to resist her cute little face Pacey sighed in defeat and pulled up a chair sitting next to her. “So are you excited about school today squirt?” “Yep. It’s my last day and then my daddy is coming this weekend to take me fishing and whatever else I want to do.” Cassie beamed that she was going to get to see her father. Now that school was done for the summer she was going to get to see him a lot more than she usually did. Mark would come to Capeside every other weekend to see her and spend some quality time with her. Now with no school he would take her to Providence for two weeks in August and spoil her rotten like he did every year. “You like fishing?” Pacey asked her buttering his toast. “I love fishing.” “Well how about I take you fishing after your daddy leaves this weekend? It would be great as long as you don’t mind baiting your own hook.” “I don’t mind that Pacey. I love worms.” Pacey laughed. “You sound just like your mother when she was younger.” “Yeah, if memory serves correctly Pace, I used to have to bait your hook. What was it that you said?” Joey thought for a minute. “Oh yeah, that there was no way in he..heck that you were touching those slimy things.” “Yeah well that was then and this is now Miss Josephine. Unless little Cassie wants to bait my hook then I have no problems with it.” “I will do that for you Pacey, if you really want me to.” “Aww thanks Cassie, but I think I can handle it.” Pacey got up from the table to put his plate in the kitchen and get another cup of coffee. “Hey Cassie if you hurry up and finish eating and quickly brush your teeth I’ll drive you to school. How’s that sound?” “Great.” She exclaimed and jumped up from her chair and ran into the bathroom to brush her teeth. “Pacey you don’t need to take her. I can do it.” “I don’t mind Jo. I’m going that way anyway, so it’s not a big deal.” “Thanks Pacey.” She touched his arm slightly and Pacey looked down at her hand when he felt a bolt of electricity go through his body. He looked up into her eyes and smiled weakly wondering if she felt it to. “No problem Jo.” “Okay Pacey I’m ready to go now.” Cassie announced bouncing into the kitchen. “Hey Pace. You will be home on time for dinner, right?” “Of course I’ll be here for dinner. I wouldn’t miss my last dinner with my three favourite girls for anything in the world.” “Okay then I’ll see you later then.” Bending down to Cassie Joey gave her a hug and a kiss. “And you be good at school today and I’ll see you in a bit. Love you.” “Love you too. Bye.” Grabbing Pacey by the hand she dragged him out the door. Joey smiled watching her daughter and turned her attention to the table where Danielle was sitting there quietly. “You’re awfully quiet this morning and that’s so not like you. Is everything okay?” “Yeah everything is fine. I was just observing.” “Observing? Observing what?” “You and Pacey. Pacey and Cassie.” “What are you talking about Danielle?” “Come on Jo. Don’t play stupid with me. You must have noticed the way he looks at you. The way his face lights up when you walk into the room. Somebody is smitten with you and I want to know what you plan on doing about it.” “I think you’re reading a little bit too much into this.” “Am I? Because don’t think that I haven’t noticed the way you’ve been looking at him either Joey. You seem to forget that I know you and when he’s around you get this silly little grin on your face that I’ve never seen before. So I’m sensing that Pacey is not the only one feeling a little more than friendly.” Joey sighed and looked at her friend. “Danielle, even if…and that’s a pretty big if. If I was feeling more for Pacey than just friendship there’s nothing I can do about it. There’s nothing I will do about it.” “And why is that Joey? Pacey is a great guy, he’s nice, he’s gorgeous, and he treats you with nothing but respect. And have you not seen how great he is with Cassie and how much she adores him? Joey you haven’t been with anyone since Mark. Don’t you think it’s time that you stopped closing yourself off to possibilities?” “I know I haven’t been with anyone since Mark, believe me I know. But Pacey is my best friend and nothing more. End of story.” “If that’s the end of story Jo, then why did you ask Pacey if he would be home for dinner?” “Because this is his home.” “No it’s not and you know it. I’ve been around for over three years now and you have yet to call this place my home. I think you’re in denial Joey. You have feelings for him and you’re just too afraid to act on them. You have to keep in mind that not every man is Mark. Not every man is going to break your heart. And if you keep shielding yourself you may just miss out on an amazing opportunity at real true love. You won’t only be denying yourself, but Cassie too” Joey sat quietly pondering what Danielle had said. Sure she made perfect sense, but could she risk her heart and soul again. Not only that but could she risk losing the one friendship that meant more to her than almost anything in the world. The only logical answer Joey could come up with was no. No, she wouldn’t risk her heart, soul, or their friendship. She had lost in the game of love once and wasn’t about to lose again and she wasn’t willing to lose Pacey either. Joey looked over at Cassie and it broke her heart to take her to bed now. She looked so adorable sitting on Pacey’s lap, her head resting against his chest as her eyes were slowly closing with the excitement of the day catching up with her and sleep overtaking her small body. “Look’s like somebody has had enough today.” Joey whispered looking at Cassie. “Well the last day of school will do that to you.” He smoothed her long hair with his hand while looking at her sleeping form. “Yeah I guess. Here let me take her from you and I’ll put her to bed.” “That’s okay Jo, I’ve got her. Why don’t you go make us some popcorn and get us something to drink for the movie?” “Okay Pacey.” Joey got up and kissed Cassie on the top of her head whispering I love you into her hair. Standing up Pacey carried Cassie into her room and gently placed her in the middle of her bed. Pulling the blanket up to her shoulders he pushed her hair back off of her face before leaning forward and placing a small kiss on her forehead. “Sweet dreams Cassie.” He whispered closing her door slightly and going back to Joey. Sitting down in the same spot he was seated in earlier he reached over and grabbed a handful of popcorn out of the bowl that was in between them. “So what time will Mark be here to pick up Cassie tomorrow?” Pacey asked her stuffing his mouth full of popcorn. “Not until the afternoon sometime. But right after he picks her up I’ll be over to help you unpack.” “That’s fine Jo, don’t worry about it. I am curious though on when I finally get to meet this guy.” “I don’t know Pace. Maybe if you’re here when he drops her off. Why the sudden interest in meeting Mark?” “I don’t know. I guess it would just be nice to meet Cassie’s father.” “Oh. Well I’m sure you’ll meet him soon enough. So tell me, are you excited about finally getting into your apartment?” “Yes and no. Yes, because it will be nice to walk around in my underwear if I want to. And no, because I’m going to miss seeing Cassie everyday.” “She’s going to miss you to Pacey. And she’s not the only one.” “Aww, I’m going to miss you too Jo.” “I was talking about Danielle, but okay, I’m going to miss you too.” “You know I’m still going to be around a lot, right?” “And you know I wouldn’t want it any other way.” “Good.” He nodded. “Good. Now can we watch the movie before you eat all my popcorn?” “Sounds good to me.” Joey hit the play button on the remote control and settled back against the cushions of the sofa. She wasn’t sure at which point during the movie that the bowl got moved and her head was now resting on Pacey’s shoulder. All she knew was that she had never felt more at home than she did right now. Joey stood in the middle of Pacey’s apartment looking at the boxes everywhere and tried to determine where to start. Glancing at one of the boxes she saw that it was labelled kitchen and figured it was as good as place as any to start. Picking up the box she went into the kitchen and started putting things away while Pacey was busy getting the bathroom together. An hour later she was finished with the kitchen and in need of a break. Calling out to Pacey for him to join her she continued to look at the labels on the boxes deciding on what she would do next. Moving around the room looking at every box she saw one that caught her eye. It was labelled Old Stuff. Curiosity getter the best of her she sat on the sofa and opened the lid. Inside were old trophies from college, certificates, pictures of them growing up, the letters she sent him just after he moved and at the bottom of the box was something she never thought she would see again. The coat. Taking the coat out of the box she held it up and shuddered at the memory of him wearing this eyesore. She remembered hounding him about it all the time whenever he wore it. God, she hated that jacket. “Ahhh, I see you found the brown coat of lust.” Pacey said walking into the room sitting down in the chair across from her. “It’s the brown coat of something Pace, but lust, is definitely not it.” “Hey, don’t you remember how the chicks went crazy over me when I had this thing on?” “You keep telling yourself that Pace.” “What? They did. They couldn’t get enough of me.” “Oh please Pacey. They couldn’t get far enough away from you. Everyone hated that coat and you know it. Why you were so insistent on constantly wearing it is beyond me.” “I wore it all the time because I was a chick magnet in that thing.” “Pacey… You didn’t need this thing for the girls to like you or want you. They wanted you for being you. It’s that simple.” “Yeah I was pretty hot, wasn’t I?” “Yes you were. So I really don’t see any reason for you to hang on to this thing anymore.” Getting up from the sofa she walked towards the door. “What are you doing Jo? Give me my jacket.” Pacey said following her. “No way Pacey. It’s time that this thing was finally put where it belongs.” “And where would that be exactly?” “The garbage.” Walking slowly towards her Pacey held his hand out. “Joey hand it over.” “No.” She answered defiantly backing up without taking her eyes off of him. She knew him to well and was afraid of what he would do when he realized she was being serious. “Jo.” He warned. “Pace.” She said in the same tone. “I’m going to say this one more time and if you don’t listen, you’ll be sorry. Now hand over the coat, Joey.” “Sorry Pace, I can’t do that. Just think of it this way. I’m doing this for everyone who has ever seen this hideous thing.” “I warned you.” Pacey said to her as he started towards her. Joey quickly ran out of his grasp and ran to one side of the sofa leaving Pacey on the other end. “What floor are we on again Pace?” Looking at the balcony doors behind her. “You know, I could just throw it over.” She smirked at him and slowly backed towards the door. “Joey don’t you dare.” Pacey leaped over the sofa and grabbed her as she turned and held the coat behind her back. She lost her footing slightly and stumbled backwards, the wall behind her stopping them from falling to the floor. She looked up into his blue eyes and was met by a look of desire and want. It was a look she hadn’t seen in a long time, a look she wasn’t sure she was ready to see, but the feeling of his arms around her and the closeness of his body sent shivers up and down her spine. She saw his eyes close as he leaned closer to her. She could feel the warmth of his breath as his lips descended onto hers and just as she was about to respond, she pulled away and stepped out of his grasp. “So, uh, what rooms next Pace?” She asked him throwing his coat on the back of the sofa and walking into the spare room, not caring that it was already done. Only caring that she put distance between them because the temptation was too strong. |

Re: Awww This part is long so I wouldn't blame you if you had to take a break to have a nap or something. Thanks for reading and replying to this again. Walking in the front door of the B&B Joey’s mind went back to the events that transpired at Pacey’s. She could still feel his hot breath on her face and her pulse quickened when she remembered the heated gaze he gave her before leaning in to kiss her. She had no idea why she ran, but all she knew was that he was causing her to feel things that she thought she would never feel for a man again. Sighing heavily she fell back onto the sofa and ran her hands through her hair. Not wanting to think about she laid her head against the cushions of the sofa and closed her eyes. It had been a long day and all she wanted to do was go to sleep and try to forget what had happened at Pacey’s. Or did she? The feeling of being wrapped in his arms and the look of desire in his eyes made her feel wanted and desired. It had been so long since she felt that way and it frightened her. What frightened her even more was that it was Pacey making her feel that way. Hearing the sound of the door slam shut, Joey opened her eyes and looked to see who was walking into her house. It didn’t surprise her when she saw Danielle walking in with laundry hamper in her arms. “Hey, run out of clean clothes again?” “Pretty damn close to it, so that’s why I’m here. How did everything go at Pacey’s? Is he all situated now?” Setting the hamper on the chair Danielle sat on the sofa facing Joey. “Everything was fine at Pacey’s. Why would you ask me something like that?” Joey asked defensively. “Whoa! Back up a bit honey. Since when did asking a normal everyday question warrant me getting my head bitten off?” Joey sighed. “I’m sorry Danielle. I’m just really tired, that’s all.” “Uh huh, sure, whatever. Why don’t you tell me what’s really bothering you Joey. I’ve known you long enough to know the difference between you being tired and when something is bothering you. So spill it. Did you and Pacey have a fight?” “I wouldn’t call it a fight exactly.” “Then what would you call it?” “Well, you see…umm..” “Joey.” Danielle warned. “Out with it.” “Okay, so I’m helping Pacey unpack and I come across this god awful jacket he use to wear all the time when we were teenagers. So I start bugging him about it and I pretended that I was going to throw it over the balcony and the next thing I know is that he lunges at me, I stumble and my back is against the wall.” “Ooooh, this is getting interesting. Tell me more.” “There’s not that much more to tell, really. Except for that he tried to kiss me.” “WHAT? What do you mean he tried to kiss you? Did he or did he not kiss you? What did you do? How was it? He has nice soft lips, doesn’t he?” Danielle fired out a string of questions one right after another. “Well yes and no.” “What do you mean yes and no? It’s one or the other Joey and stop playing games with me. Tell me everything, now.” Danielle demanded. “Well I mean yes he kissed me, but it was barely a kiss. Just as his lips lightly touched mine I pulled away and left him standing there.” “Why in God’s name would you pull away from that gorgeous man? You’ve lost your mind haven’t you? I mean only a crazy person would do something that fucking retarded.” “Danielle, you already know the answer to that. We’ve talked about this, remember?” “Of course I remember. How could I forget? But that doesn’t mean that I have to accept the reasons you gave me. It’s makes no sense Jo. He obviously has feelings for you and even though you won’t admit it, you have feelings for him too. So why not just go for it? My God Joey, not to be blunt…Okay, to be blunt you need to get some. It’s been way too long since you’ve had sex and need I remind you that out of the two guys you’ve slept with that neither one of them were able to make you cum.” “Get your mind out of the gutter Danielle. And thanks for the reminder, that’s all I need to think about on top of everything else. My deprived sex life and how you think I should sleep with my best friend.” “Hell yes I think you should sleep with him. That boy looks like he knows what he’s doing in the sack. I think you should go for it Jo and not just for the sex, but also for everything. Pacey is a good man and he’d be great for you and Cassie. Answer me this Joey. How did it feel when you were in his arms and how did it feel when his lips barely touched yours, as you like to put it?” Joey sighed, “It felt wonderful and terrible all at the same time. It was wonderful because I felt things that I never thought I’d feel again and it was terrible because it was Pacey making me feel those things. It’s not supposed to be him Danielle, it’s just not.” “Joey, if it feels so wonderful then tell me how it can be wrong.” “What if it backfires? Then what? I lose everything, not to mention what it would do to Cassie. You said it yourself she loves him to pieces. What would it do to her if it didn’t work and she never seen Pacey again?” “And how much happiness would it bring to her if things did work out and the three of you lived happily ever after.” “I don’t know Danielle. I just don’t know if I’m willing to risk it.” “Okay tell me how things were with you after you walked away from him. What did he say? He did say something, didn’t he?” “Yeah he said that he was sorry and he didn’t know why he did what he did. He just figured it had been so long since he was that close to a woman that he just got caught up in the moment. He said it would never happen again.” “And you believed him?” “Why wouldn’t I? This is Pacey and he’s never lied to me before so why would he start now?” “Well for one, you shot the poor guy down so he was trying to get out of it with some dignity left. Do you have any idea on what you must have done to his ego today Jo? My God!” “What did you want me to do Danielle?” “Go with your gut instinct. That’s what I want you to do. I want you to stop being afraid and finally do what feels right.” “But what if the thing that feels so right, is also the thing that feels so wrong?” Two weeks later…. “Cassie hurry up, daddy will be here any minute to pick you up.” Joey called for Cassie from the kitchen where she was covering the steaks with marinade for dinner. Pacey and Danielle would be there in a few hours for a barbeque and if she wanted the steaks to be ready she had to get them done now. Over the past two weeks things with Joey and Pacey went back to normal. Well as normal as they could be anyway. Joey kept thinking about what Danielle had said and every time Pacey was near her she couldn’t help but wonder what if? What if everything Danielle said was true? What if she was passing up one of the best opportunities of her life? What if she was depriving herself and Cassie of true happiness? What if she was depriving herself of true love? “Cassie.” Joey called again washing and drying her hands to go and get Cassie ready. Mark was coming to take Cassie again for the weekend and Cassie being a typical five year old was too busy playing with her toys instead of cleaning them up. Funny, how the mind of a five year old works. They can be so excited about one thing, but then something catches their eye and all is forgotten. That’s exactly what happened with Cassie. She was all excited about going with her daddy one minute and then Joey sent her to clean her room now all Joey could hear were the little sounds of Cassie talking to herself while she played house with her Barbie dolls. “Cassie honey, are you just about done in here? Daddy will be here any second to pick you up, you know.” Joey said to her picking up the Barbie clothes that were on the floor and put them in their case. “Can’t I just play until he gets here mommy?” “Well you have been playing and now you should be cleaning this up. Come on I’ll help you.” Joey and Cassie cleaned up her toys and finished just in time. As they put the last of her things away they heard the familiar knock at the door. Mark would always knock differently than everyone else to let Cassie know that it was him. “Hey.” Joey greeted him as she opened the door to let him in. “Hi Joey, is she ready to go?” He asked her a bit coldly. “Yeah. She’s all set all she needs is her bag.” “Daddy.” Cassie shrieked as she threw her little body into his arms. “Hey baby. How’s daddy’s little girl today?” “I’m great daddy.” “So tell me what you’ve been doing since the last time I saw you.” “Umm..” she thought about what she’s been doing for the last two weeks. “Pacey took me fishing, and he took me to the park and he took me to his restaurant and he even let me name one of the desserts on his menu.” “Pacey, huh?” Mark tried to hide the jealously in his voice as he put her down, but it didn’t work. The last time he had Cassie she had went on and on about this guy. A guy he had yet to meet and wanted to desperately now. He wanted to meet this guy who his daughter was spending so much time with. “Cassie why don’t you go and get your bag?” Without another word Cassie took off in the direction of her room. “So Joey, who is this Pacey guy?” “Pacey is an old friend of mine Mark. I told you about him years ago.” “You did? I don’t remember that. So what’s the deal with you two? Is he your boyfriend?” “I don’t think that’s any of your business.” “It is my business when my daughter is involved. I think I have a right to know about the men you have around her.” “The men I have around her? What the hell is that suppose to mean Mark? You don’t see me questioning you about every fucking girlfriend you have or even questioning you about your friends. And why is that? Because I know that you will make sure that Cassie is well taken care of when she’s with you. I know that you will always put her first, so don’t you dare walk into my house and insinuate that I’m not doing that.” “I’m not insinuating anything Joey. I just think that it would be nice to meet this person who my daughter is so taken with.” He was trying hard to hide the hurt in his voice. For all of her life he had been the only man and now the idea of him being replaced by another was eating him up inside. “This person as you like to call him is Pacey. And do you now want to meet all of my friends?” “So he’s just a friend then?” He asked and he didn’t try to hide his smile. Mark knew that Joey hadn’t had a boyfriend since he left her and he didn’t know why, but he liked it that way. Cassie came back before Joey could answer him. Joey was thankful that she did because Mark could always tell when Joey was lying or hiding something and even though her and Pacey were just friends she was sure that he would be able to see the uncertainty in her eyes. She knew he would be able to see in her eyes that she cared more for Pacey than a friend no matter how hard she was trying to fight it. “Wow Jo, that was great.” Pacey complimented her as she finished loading the dishwasher. He watched her movements around the kitchen and all he wanted to do was walk up behind her and wrap his arms around her. It hurt him that she walked away from him. Now all he wanted to do was take her into his arms and kiss her until she couldn’t breathe and not let her get away. He wanted to show her how much he cared for her and how he would never do anything to hurt her. He would do that if she would only give him a sign that that’s what she wanted. “Thanks Pacey, I’m glad you enjoyed it.” “I did. Now I have a question for you ladies.” “And what is this question Pacey?” Danielle asked him looking somewhat amused. “Now what are we going to do with the rest of our night? I don’t know about you two, but I don’t feel like staying in. I’d like to go somewhere.” He paused for a minute. “I know. Why don’t we go down to the bar, have a drink or two and play a few games of pool? It would give us something to do.” Joey sat there going over Pacey’s suggestion. It did sound nice to get out of the house for a change and it had been so long since Joey had done anything that the idea sounded great. “Well you two will have to go without me. Some of us don’t have the luxury of running their own businesses and have to report to a boss in the morning.” “Awww.. Are you sure Danielle?” “Yeah I’m sure. You two go and have a great time. Well I know it will be hard for you to really enjoy yourselves because I’m not there and all, but try your best.” “It will be hard, but I’m sure we’ll manage.” Joey laughed. “Okay then on that happy note, I’m outta here. You two have fun and I’ll see you later. Thanks again for dinner Joey. It was great.” “No problem honey. See ya later.” “So I guess it’s just you and me Potter.” Pacey grinned at her. The idea of spending a night out alone with Joey made him smile even if it was purely platonic. “I guess it is.” Joey couldn’t help but smile back at him. When he looked at her that way it made her feel good. It made her feel alive. “Now hurry up and get ready. The night awaits.” An hour later Pacey and Joey were sitting at a table at this little bar on the outskirts of Capeside. It was a cute place, not too many people and it had a friendly atmosphere. “So Jo, how about a game of pool?” Pacey suggested handing her a bottle beer. “Do you know how long it’s been since I played pool Pace? God I can’t even remember, that’s how long it’s been.” “It’s not that hard Joey. Come on I’ll show you what to do.” Pacey grabbed her by the arm and picked up their drinks with his other hand and lead them over to the pool table. “Okay Joey, I’ll rack and you break.” “Pacey I don’t know if I can.” “Just do it Potter.” Chalking up her pool cue Joey took the cue ball in her hand and placed it where she wanted to on the table. Taking a deep breath she leaned over the table not knowing that she was giving Pacey an eyeful of her breasts as her shirt fell slightly forward. As much as he tried he couldn’t pry his eyes from her. Drawing her arm back she thrust it forward making contact with the cue ball, although not very good contact. The cue ball travelled down the table hitting the other balls making them barely separate from each other. “See I told you Pacey.” “Oh, relax Jo. You did just fine. At least you hit them. Come on shoot again and this time I’ll help you.” “No, it’s your turn now Pacey.” “Okay Jo, if you don’t want my help.” “I didn’t say that Pace. It’s just that it’s your turn. You can help me with my next shot. Plus the shape is lousy, so maybe you’ll leave me something good to shoot at.” Shrugging his shoulders he bent over lining up with cue ball with the rest of the balls and hit them wanting just to break them up some more to give them some more options. With none of them falling he handed Joey back the pool cue so she could take her shot. “Great Pace, you left me nothing.” Joey sighed looking at the table trying to decide what she was going to go for. “Go for the six Joey. It’s the easiest shot.” “Easy for you maybe. Easy for me, no.” “Here.” Pacey stood behind her and leaned over the table with her. “You want to see the shot clearly Jo.” His breath was hot on her neck and his hard body pressed against hers it took everything in her to concentrate on what he was saying rather than the feelings that were going through her body. She was having a hard time breathing and she knew that Pacey was equally affected by this close contact because she could feel the beginnings of his arousal pressed into her back. “So you want to hit it softly right there on the side then that will hit the six in just the right spot and that should send it to the side pocket.” He now had his hand over hers on the back of the stick and his other covering hers on the table. Letting her draw back she hit the cue and sent the six into the side pocket just like Pacey said it would. Looking surprised that it actually went in Joey spun around and let out an excited little yell. As soon as she left his arms Pacey missed her, but did his best not to show it. “See what did I tell ya Jo? I knew you could do it.” “You did it Pace, but thanks anyway.” She gave him a hug holding on to him longer than either one of them expected. After they finished playing a few games they sat back down at their table and talked about everything and everything. They were thoroughly enjoying their night together and both didn’t want it to end. Hearing the first keystrokes of piano music from the jukebox Joey jumped up out of her chair. “Do you know what would make this night perfect Pacey?” “Uh, no I don’t Jo. What?” “If you would dance with me.” “Dance with you? Are you crazy Joey? You must be crazy because I know you’re not drunk, you only had one drink.” “What’s wrong with wanting to dance with you?” “Nothing I guess, but look around. There’s not even a dance floor here.” “So what. Live a little. We’ll improvise.” Joey had no idea what had possessed her to want to dance with him. All she knew was that she wanted to be in his arms and feel the way he had been making her feel lately. “Okay Joey, I still think you’re crazy but I’ll dance with you anyway.” Leading him to an area where there was nothing around them Joey wrapped her arms around his neck and settled in his embrace. With his hands on her hips they swayed to the sound of the song playing. As soon as Pacey heard the first words of the song he knew he was a goner. This song was him and Joey to a tee and it describe everything he was feeling at that moment. Remember when, we never needed each other The best of friends like Sister and Brother We understood, we'd never be, Alone Those days are gone, and I want so much The night is long and I need your touch Don't know what to say I never meant to feel this way Don't want to be Alone tonight What can I do, to make it right Falling so hard so fast this time What did I say, what did you do? How did I fall in love with you? I hear your voice And I start to tremble Brings back the child that, I resemble I cannot pretend, that we can still be friends Don't want to be, Alone tonight What can I do, to make it right Falling so hard so fast this time What did I say, what did you do? How did I fall in love with you? Oh I want to say this right And it has to be tonight Just need you to know, oh yeah I don't want to live this life I don't want to say goodbye With you I wanna spend The rest of my life What can I do, to make it right Falling so hard so fast this time What did I say, what did you do? How did I fall in love with you? What can I do, to make it right Falling so hard so fast this time Everything's changed, we never knew How did I fall, in love , with you? They didn’t talk at all during the duration of the song that was playing, both of them paying attention to the words that were being sung and enjoying the feeling of being wrapped in each other’s arms. She could feel how she affected him once again as they danced and he also had the same affect on her. He even tried to pull back a bit so she couldn’t feel what she was doing to him, but Joey just pulled him closer again. Feeling his erection pressed against her stomach, his arms around her, and his hot breath on her cheek turned her on more than she had ever been in her life. When the song ended they looked at each other, each one of them wondering what was going through the others mind. “I guess we should get going, huh?” Joey whispered softly. She hated to break the wonderful moment they had just shared but it was getting late and they were getting ready to close the bar. “Yeah I guess. Come on I’ll take you home.” When they returned to Joey’s she offered Pacey something to drink. She didn’t want this night to end. Even though it was only pool at a bar it was still meant a lot to her. Pacey had a way of doing that. He could take the most mundane things and make them wonderful and exciting. Joey knew now that she was fighting a losing battle when it came to her feelings for him. “Well Jo, it’s getting late. I should get going.” “Oh.” Joey said sounding disappointed. As Pacey stood at the door getting ready to leave Joey remembered how earlier in the night what it felt like to have his hands on her hips and on her back as they danced on the dance floor. When he held her close she could feel herself getting hot and wet for him as her breasts brushed against his hard strong chest. When she felt his hot breath on her neck as he showed her how to line up the shot on the pool table, it took everything she had not to throw him on top of the table and take him right there in front of everyone. She knew she affected him to. She felt his erection as they danced and she felt it when he was behind her and she could clearly see the desire and want for her in his eyes. Throwing caution to the wind she got as close to him as she could and looked into his blue eyes with her desire filled ones. “Pacey stay.” She said barely above a whisper as she kissed him soundly on the lips her tongue parting his lips begging for entrance. Opening his mouth to hers accepting her tongue Pacey was having a hard time forming any coherent thoughts. He had been waiting for her to come to him and want him the way he wanted her. She had plagued his dreams almost ever since he came back to Capeside. He was falling in love with her more and more every day and right now he really wanted to love her. Pulling her flush against him he kissed her with all the love and passion he was feeling, his tongue exploring the new unfamiliar territory. Joey reached behind him bringing his head down closer to her lightly running her fingers through his short hair she traced along his teeth and along the inside of his mouth with her tongue. She was having a hard time controlling herself. All the sensations and feelings coursing through her body from a simple kiss was almost too much for her to handle. If he could get her this turned on by a kiss, then she couldn’t wait to see what else he had to offer. Hugging her tightly to his body he let his hands roam her back coming up and tangling his fingers through her silky hair. With one hand planted firmly on the back of her head he reached down and cupped her ass pulling her hard against his throbbing erection. He groaned deep in his throat when he felt her thrust her hips forward causing him to harden even more. Turning her around he moved closer to the wall never breaking the kiss. He pressed her back against it making Joey moan from the contact. Grabbing her arms from around his neck he pinned them above her head with one hand as he moved mouth from her lips down her neck and up to her ear lobe where he sucked it gently into his mouth letting it graze through his teeth as he released it. His free hand trickled down her bare arm leaving goose bumps along her skin. He felt Joey shudder at his movements and smiled inwardly that he was the one causing her to do so. He continued nibbling her ear tracing the outer rim with his tongue before dipping it into her canal while his hand found her firm breast. He growled in Joey’s ear as she filled his hand completely. Perfectly. Joey arched her back urging him to take more of her. She needed him to take more. Pacey happily obliged kneading her clad breast rolling her stiff nipple between his thumb and forefinger. He moved his head lower and began sucking her other breast through the material of her shirt while his other hand continued its assault on her nipple. Not knowing how to handle what she was feeling Joey pulled her hands out of his grasp reaching for his face she brought his lips back to hers kissing him with such an urgency. She wanted to release the ache between her legs and wanted Pacey to be the one to do it. Surprised at her sudden movement he had both hands now firmly planted on her ass he picked her up and her legs instinctively wrapped around his waist. She rotated her hips trying to relieve some of the pressure within her. Pacey’s hand found where she was longing to be touched, Joey whimpered as he brushed his fingers against her clit. He could feel the heat radiating through her jeans as he proceeded to stroke the length of her sex. “Pacey.” She breathed heavily letting him know that she couldn’t take much more, let alone in the living room at the front door. Adjusting himself to accommodate her weight, which wasn’t much he walked them to her room and kicked the door closed behind him. He stopped at the side of the bed allowing Joey to slide down his body over his hard cock. She stood before him and he was sure he had never seen her look more beautiful in his life. He had to remind himself to breathe. Reaching for the hem of her shirt he pulled it up over her head leaving her in a white lace bra that didn’t leave much to the imagination. He licked his lips and his mouth watered with anticipation. Just when he didn’t think it was possible for him to get any harder he felt his cock twitch and harden even more so when he took in the sight before him. Joey mimicked his actions ridding him of his shirt and she immediately undid his pants letting them fall over his hips to the floor. Stepping out of the pants he stood before her in only his boxers, bringing her close to him again his mouth sought out hers as his fingers toyed with the clasp at the back of her bra. Flicking it once it easily came undone. Taking it off her body it quickly joined the pile of discarded clothing on the floor. Cupping her face in his large hands he kissed her softly before letting his hands run down her neck, over her shoulders grazing her nipples with his thumbs as he made his way to the top of her jeans. Undoing them he broke the kiss to pull them over her hips and down her long slender legs. Helping her step out of them he inhaled deeply from smelling her arousal. Hooking his fingers through the waistband of her thong he slowly pulled her last garment of clothing off of her body. Moving back up her body he couldn’t resist the urge to take her nipple into his mouth, swirling his tongue around it he gently bit down on it pulling back and blowing cool air on the area he had just had between his teeth. Unable to contain herself any longer Joey reached down and with one swift tug had his boxers down around his ankles freeing his aching member. Pulling him to her they fell on her bed Pacey putting his hands out so he wouldn’t crush her with his weight. They broke into a fit of giggles feeling like two horny teenagers. That’s exactly what they felt like, two horny teenagers that couldn’t get enough of each other. Pacey looked into her eyes with a serious expression while rubbing his thumb against her cheek as she continued to giggle. He loved the laughter he seen in her eyes, something that he hasn’t seen since he came back. Joey noticing his seriousness stopped laughing. “Is something wrong Pacey?” She shifted uncomfortably suddenly feeling self- conscience. “Not at all Jo. I just want you to know that if at any time you want to stop, all you have to do is say the word.” He managed to say as she moved her leg and it brushed against his cock. “Pacey…” She started. “No Joey, I’m serious. If at any time you feel uncomfortable or you want to stop, I’ll stop. It will be extremely hard, but I will.” “Pacey the only thing I want you to stop, is talking.” “Are you sure?” “I’m more than sure Pacey.” She whispered meeting his lips again in a sweet lingering kiss. Moving her hand down his chest she let her fingernails scrap his nipples as she moved her hand lower on his body finally finding his raging hard on. She took him in her small hand and began stroking him slowly but firmly sweeping her thumb over the tip spreading the pre-cum that had formed there. Groaning loudly at the contact he shifted over on to his side giving her better access and his fingers danced around her body. Starting with her breasts over the flat of her stomach down through her glistening curls and in through her slick passage. Feeling Joey stroke him and feeling how hot and wet she was was almost too overwhelming for him. He kissed her hard and continued to coat his fingers with her hot juices. Slipping his finger into her he felt her walls tighten around him and he thrust in and out of her. Joey opened her legs further to allow him better access and Pacey added another finger to her while his thumb teased her sensitive nub. The more pleasure he brought to her the harder and faster she stroked him. Knowing if she kept that up he wouldn’t last another minute he removed his fingers from her eliciting a disapproving moan from Joey when he did so. He covered her hand with his and stilled her movements. Bringing her hand up to his lips he kissed her wrist kissing his way up her arm. He kissed her shoulder moving down between the valley of her breasts taking her nipple into his mouth once again swirling his tongue around the tip. Going to the other one he bathed it with an equal amount of attention. Placing feather light kisses down her body he let his move off the side of the bed bringing Joey to the edge with him, only enough that her legs were hanging over the edge. Putting each of her legs over his shoulders he kissed her inner thigh and inhaled deeply his mouth watering at the feast he was about to enjoy. Placing the palms his hands under her ass he parted her lips with his thumbs and ran his tongue up the length of her sex avoiding her clit going around it and down again circling her entrance with his tongue. Hearing her whimper he smiled repeating his actions. Joey tightened her legs around his head and jerked her hips upwards in attempt that he’d touch her where she wanted. “Pacey please.” “Please what Jo?” He ran his tongue up from her entrance stopping just before he got to her clit. “Tell me what you want Jo.” “Don’t stop.” She arched her back and bit her lower lip when he repeated his actions once again. “Don’t stop what Joey? Tell me what you want. All you have to do is say it.” He said to her once again mimicking his previous movements and just as he was about to stop she grabbed his head and dug her heels into his back. “There Pacey. Don’t stop there. Keep going.” Smiling he did as she asked. Making his tongue into a stiff point he flicked it over her tender nub. Firmly placing his tongue on her clit had massaged it with a slow circular motion. Applying and then releasing pressure when he felt her squirm underneath him. With the mixture of his tongue and the hot air when he exhaled and the cool air when he inhaled sent Joey’s system into a tail spin. She had never been with a lover who was so giving, so gentle and so caring. Feeling him slide his fingers into and the rapid pace of his tongue sent sensations soaring through her body that she had never experienced before and it scared her. Not a bad scared, a good scare, but it scared her all the same. Watching her face contort with all the feelings that were going through her Pacey knew that she was so close. He watched as her chest rose and fell with every breath she took, and he watched as she chewed frantically on her bottom lips trying to fight her impending orgasm. “Pacey. I don’t think I can.” “Yes you can Jo. Just let it happen. Don’t fight it.” Pacey assured her while adding a third finger and closing his mouth completely on her clit flicking it repeatedly helping her along. She tightened her legs around him with as much force she could muster as her first ever orgasm overtook her. She screamed out his name as she came, Pacey only hearing a muffled sound due to her legs covering his ears. Her body shook violently as Pacey greedily drank up all that she had to offer. He remained where he was and continued to lap her as the remainder of her orgasm subsided. After a few minutes he removed her legs from his shoulders and attempted to go to her on the bed, but she sat up and stopped him in his tracks. “My turn.” She told him seductively with desire filled eyes wanting to give him as much pleasure as he had just given her. Sitting on the edge of the bed she licked her lips before darting her tongue out and swirling it around the tip of his cock. Grabbing his ass she pulled him closer to her running her tongue along his length before taking only the tip into her mouth and sucking gently on it. She started stroking him base to tip while she flicked her tongue repeatedly over his head. Pacey looked down at her and thread his fingers in her hair urging her to take him completely into her moist craven. Joey looked up and made eye contact with him and looked him right in the eye as she swallowed him whole. Sucking him hard and fast she never broke their gaze loving the look of pure pleasure and satisfaction she seen there. Pacey pulled away and let himself fall out of her mouth. “Pacey, what are you doing?” “Lay back Joey. Tonight is about you and you have no idea on how badly I want to be inside you right now, how badly I want to be inside you to feel you cum, or how badly I want to be inside you when I cum.” She couldn’t help but smile when he said that to her. Laying back on the pillows she saw Pacey fumbling with his pants taking out his wallet and grabbing a condom. She watched as he ripped the package open and rolled it over his cock. Inching up her body he positioned himself at her entrance kissing her softly on the lips. “Are you okay?” “I’m fine Pacey. Just go slow, okay.” “No problem Joey. Remember all you have to do is say the word.” “Pacey.” “Yeah.’ “I want this and I want this with you, right now.” She demanded kissing him again grabbing his ass pulling her into her slowly. He entered her slow at her request. If were up to him he would have drove into her with such a force that she wouldn’t be able to walk for days. Once completely inside she began to rock her hips telling him without words that she was ready for more. He pulled back leaving only the tip of his cock in her and slammed into her. He heard her moan with pain, but could tell by the look on her face that it was a pleasurable pain. Meeting him thrust for thrust her head lolled back and forth on the pillow as she could feel another orgasm approaching. Not ready for her to let go just yet Pacey slowed down entering her over and over again, but with a slow pace almost not moving at all. He could feel her walls pulsating around him and he drove back into her hard and fast unable to control himself any longer. He reached his hand between them to where they were joined stimulating her engorged clit with his thumb and felt her walls grab his cock like a vice grip as she came. For the second time that night she called out his name in ecstasy and that was enough to send him over the edge calling out her name. Filling the condom he continued to pump in and out of her while he rode out the wave of his orgasm. He remained inside her while he kissed her sweat-covered forehead and she ran her hands up and down his back that was also covered in sweat. Finally slipping from her body he removed the condom and threw it in the trash can next to her bed. Pulling her into his arms he kissed her forehead one last time before they both fell asleep. No words were spoken between them. Only thoughts of what tomorrow would bring and thoughts about what this would do to their friendship. |

Re: HOT! Thanks for reading. Bringing his free arm up to shield his eyes from the sun peeking through the curtains Pacey looked down at Joey’s sleeping form. The blankets that they had covered themselves up with the night before had since been kicked off their bodies and Pacey allowed his eyes to travel over her naked body. He wanted to memorize every inch of her, every curve, every mole, every beautiful feature she had to offer. Her head was resting on his chest with her beautiful chestnut brown hair fanned across his chest, her legs wrapped securely around his, and her arm draped loosely around his waist. Closing his eyes he made a mental picture of how beautiful she looked wrapped up in his arms, it was a picture he wanted to last forever in his mind, it was a picture he wanted to see every morning when he woke. Carefully picking up her hand so he wouldn’t wake her he intertwined his fingers through hers and smiled at just how perfect they fit together, just how right it felt. Nothing in his life had ever felt so good or so right as it did now. Making love to her last night and waking up with her in his arms made him feel like he had died and gone to heaven. Everything he could ever want or need was in his arms and his only wish was that he was all Joey could ever want and need. Joey could feel his hand in hers and could hear his heart beat, as she lay there curled up in his arms. She had been awake for a while now but didn’t want to move. She didn’t want to leave the safety and warmth that his embrace offered her. It had been so long since she felt so safe and so loved that she didn’t want it to end just yet. Pacey had been so sweet and tender the night before that Joey wanted to stay in that moment as long as possible because in the light of day she didn’t know what they would do next. Where they would go from here. She didn't need to answer that question right now, right now she had a sexy naked man in her bed and she intended to take full advantage of that. Right now she didn’t need explanations as to where they were headed, what was going to happen next, or what everything meant. Right now she just needed to feel wanted and desired and Pacey was the one who could do that for her. Removing her hand from his she ran her hand over the smoothness of his chest, moving her leg up his at the same time brushing it against his semi erection. She smiled as she remembered that men usually woke up with them in the morning. Right now she was glad that Pacey did. Placing a small kiss on his chest she lifted her head to look into his eyes. “Morning.” She leaned up and kissed him softly on the lips. “Mmm…morning yourself.” He kissed her back wrapping his arms around her waist bringing her on top of him. “Did you sleep alright?” She shifted her position slightly and could feel that his once semi hard on that was now harder than a rock pressing into her thigh. “Better than I have in a long time. You?” He growled as she brushed her leg against his arousal. “The best I have in ages and I have you to thank for that.” Joey whispered as she lightly bit at his neck. “Me? What did I do?” He ran his hands over her bare back cupping her ass in his hands moving her so she was now perfectly lined with his body. “Do I need to refresh your memory of the events that took place last night?” She smiled seductively at him tracing the outline of his lips with her tongue. “Uh, no. I remember it quite well thank you very much.” He pulled back from her wanting lips the best that he could as she kept on kissing various places on his face. “Speaking of last night Jo…” Joey silenced him by covering his mouth with hers. “Talking is so overrated Pace. The B&B is empty and Cassie is with Mark, so I say that we take full advantage of this and we can talk later. At this moment in time what I want to do with you requires minimal talking.” She spoke to him slowly moving her lips over his face, around to his ear nipping at his earlobe. “Do you see where I’m going with this Pace?” She breathed heavily pulling back to look at him when she heard a low moan escape him. Feeling her lips on his skin and hearing the seductiveness of her voice made him lose all control. He wanted to talk to her, see what this new turn in their relationship meant, but when she did things like that to him, it made it difficult to see anything but the beautiful, naked woman above him, offering herself to him. Placing his hand on the back of her neck he brought her lips to his, opening his mouth to hers allowing their tongues to dance together in perfect secession. His hands roamed over her bare skin with his thumbs finding her hard nipples. Joey lifted herself up a bit to allow his hands better access to her breasts without breaking their kiss. She moaned loudly into his mouth when she felt him take all of her in his large hands. Joey tore her lips away from his as he played with her nipples, pinching them lightly at first and then roughly as she slid herself along his length, coating him with her juices. His mouth watered watching her above him and it longed to be where his hands were. Wrapping his arms around her waist he brought his mouth to her rosy peeks. Taking as much of her as her could into his mouth, he suckled her gently eliciting soft moans from her. Alternating his ministrations back and forth from one to the other he slid his hand down her body and found her wet core. Sliding his fingers into her, he massaged her inner walls while his thumb rubber her clit. Joey lifted her hips and lowered them on his fingers quickly trying to find release. Rolling them over so that Pacey was on top he continued his assault on her. Feeling her walls begin to tighten around him he added a third finger and lowered his mouth to hers capturing her muffled cries as her orgasm tore through her. Not wanting her to come down from her orgasm he fumbled around in her nightstand drawer praying to god that he’d find a condom there. Which he did. Tearing open the foil package he sheathed himself quickly, positioning himself at her entrance. Easing into her slowly, Pacey stayed still not only to allow her to adjust to him but to enjoy the feeling that being inside her brought to him. Never had he before felt so strongly for a woman, never before had he been so drawn to someone that he couldn’t see straight, and never before could he see a woman being his future. Until now. Now he could see his future clearly in front of him. The woman that lay beneath him was everything he could ever hope and dream for. Joey rolled her hips growing impatient with him. She had never experienced the pleasure that Pacey brought her, never experienced having her needs put before his, and she had never wanted something so bad in her life before as she did right now. Finally giving into her Pacey began thrusting in and out of her setting a slow pace rhythm. He wanted this to last for as long as it possible could, but with hearing Joey pant and moan his name as he sank deeper into her he knew that he wouldn’t be able to last long. Joey locked her legs around his waist tilting her hips so that he could go as deep inside of her as possible. Thrust after thrust he slammed into her making sure to make contact with her clit to bring her over the edge. Feeling her walls clamp around him again and her body shudder he knew it was now okay for him to release himself. Slamming into her with a few more thrusts he exploded into the condom. Not wanting to leave the comfort of her body he remained inside her long after the tremors of their orgasms passed, placing small soft kisses over her face and lips. “I think I need to take a shower now.” She ran her fingertips over his back, loving the feel of his skin. “Yeah, me too.” “You wanna join me?” “Sounds good to me. Let’s go.” He finally let himself slip from her body and followed her into the bathroom. Changing into her clothes Joey walked into the kitchen and found Danielle sitting there with a solemn expression on her face. “Why the long face?” “Huh?” “You look like you’ve lost you’re best friend. What’s up?” Danielle sighed. “Nothing.” “You don’t walk around with that look on your face is nothing is up. Now spill.” “It’s nothing right now. And I don’t want to say anything until I know for sure. Can we just leave it at that please?” “Danielle, you’re starting to worry me here. Is everything alright with you? Are you sick or something?” Joey’s voice was laced with concern as she looked at her friend. “Oh god. I’m fine Joey. Nothing is wrong. Believe me if something were wrong with me you’d be the first to know. It’s just that something has come up and I don’t want to make a big deal out of it until I know for sure.” “Oh, okay. So then what brings you by?” “I came by to see you and see if you had a good time last night.” “Last night was just fine.” “Only fine?” “Yes Danielle, it was fine.” “Why do I get the distinct impression that you’re not telling me something?” Danielle looked past Joey and saw Pacey standing there in only his towel. That right there gave her all the answers she needed. “Hey there stud. Looking good today.” She nodded her head in approval giving his body a once over from head to toe. “Looking very good today indeed.” “Why thank you. And if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go and get dressed to avoid any further embarrassment.” Pacey quickly disappeared into Joey’s room without another word. Joey stood the quietly waiting for Danielle to start in on her about what she had just witnessed. “So…uh…Jo. You and Pacey, huh? You two finally…you know?” She wiggled her eyebrows at her. “Yes we did. And no I’m not talking about it with you.” “And why not?” “Because there’s not much to tell really. Yes we had sex. Yes it was great. So great in fact that we did it again this morning.” “I knew that boy would be killer in the sack. Come on girl, I want details. Tell me, tell me. What happens now?” “What do you mean, what happens now?” “Are you two together or aren’t you? I mean you just can’t sleep with him knowing how he feels about you and not define what this means.” “I…I…I’m not sure what this means…” Joey stopped speaking when she heard Pacey close her bedroom door. She was happy that he was coming out when he was, so that she didn’t have to explain any further. Joey herself wasn’t entirely sure what she was feeling. The one thing she was sure of was that Pacey made her feel the way no man had ever made her feel before. And that was satisfied with a hunger for more. Pulling up to the Potter B&B Mark heard Cassie gasp. “Look daddy. It’s Pacey’s car. That means he’s here. Hurry up daddy, stop the car so I can go and see him.” Cassie was practically jumping out of her seat at the sight of Pacey’s car. “Cassie honey, calm down. You’ll see him in a minute.” Mark tried to sound upbeat and casual about his little girl’s excitement. The truth was, was that Cassie hadn’t stopped talking about Pacey all weekend and to say that Mark was a little sick of hearing about this guy was an extreme understatement. Bringing the car to a complete stop Cassie jumped out and ran straight for the front door of her house. She didn’t wait for Mark to open her door like she usually did, nor did she hold his hand up the front steps like she usually did. Mark walked up the stairs slowly knowing that he was now going to meet Pacey. Mark was now going to meet the man that he felt was replacing him in his daughter’s heart… |
