Hi!
Could someone please explain to me the way that Christian Wicca actually works? I mean, some say that it is a wonderful blend of two very deep religions and some say that it's the ultimate oxymoron. I don't really know what to believe here, but I'm incredibly curious. I am 29 years old and I have been a Baptist my whole life. I've always been especially drawn to wiccan practices, only I didn't know they were wiccan. I love to commune with nature. I love to incorporate ritual and ceremony into my prayer life. But most off my Baptist acquaintances would probably think I was out sacrificing chickens or something. Don't get me wrong. I love my Baptist background and I do believe in the Bible. I believe in the Holy Trinity and I believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I will always believe that. I believe that I have been saved by the blood of Jesus. I also believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. I'm just having a hard time figuring out where I belong in the scheme of things. Can anyone help?

Re: Hi!
Dear Woodbrain,

I am new here, but I am both an ordained Christian minister and a practicing Pagan. I have lead groups of up to 100 people in Christian-Wiccan celebrations. While there are some who find such things odd, the truth is, God has always been working through all religions of love.

Originally, Christianity came about, by God, but through both the Pagan Religions of the middle east and Judaism. Further, Christianity as we know it in the West is also a blend of Celtic, Germanic and Original Judeo/Roman Christianity.... so much so, that both Christmas and Hallowe'en have been banned in the past, by various Christian denominations, as pagan practices.

We are part of nature and part of God and as such we are drawn to both the spirit and the physical world. Too many times our churches have tried to separate us from the created world. Yet, Jesus said we are to be in the world but not of the world.... Which means that we are not to get caught up in the lower natures and the ( Yetzer ha-Ra or Evil Urge ) and allow our survival instincts to take over to the point of making us self-centered, selfish and mean spirited. Rather, we are to be guided by our higher selves and the ( Yetzer ha-Tov or Good Urge ), which will cause us to be in balance and wish to share, support and enjoy each other and all of creation.

I believe that as God continues to reveal Himself to us, we will find that a more Nature based Christianity will emerge. Not all will consider themselves Pagans or Wiccans, but they will recognize the need to interact with and commune with the rest of nature.

Blessings,
Pentamorphius

Your Quandary (and mine)
I can sympathize with you wholeheartedly. I was raised Catholic and have converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Mormons (maybe you've heard of us?). Despite this, I cannot deny the gods and practices of my forbears in Italy, England and Ireland.

Being a Christian Wiccan doesn't make one an evil witch or even necessarily a Pagan in my opinion, but rather is an acknowledging of the magic and presence of the spirit(s) of the earth, (the intercession of saints as the Catholics may refer to such a topic).

It is a bit stranger for a declared Baptist to want to participate in such a thing, but I will never judge a peaceloving brother in Jesus for this desire to appease and commune with the harmony of nature.

I think your desire to perform your ceremonies of respect and adoration for Jesus and nature are a further action of obedience. I tend to pray in my own circle to God in His name for blessings and protection, to give praise and thanks.

As the old practice of Tarot tells us " . . .your life is a path of instinct and you must follow your heart in many matters . . ." I believe you are one of those people like myself who are simply sensitive to the spirits of nature and desire to appease them, the ancient gods of our fathers as well as the saviour of the world. Follow your instincts. Don't be frightened or confused, I know those emotions can easily overwhelm folks like us with traditional upbringings and beliefs.

Don't hesitate to e-me if you want.

Brightest Blessings in Christ,

Tim Grimalkin
