Have i got the right genes to compete?
Its actually a question ive never even thought of asking, but since seeing the last TOPIC....id thought id ask....why the hell not, maybe im missing something here? I came 6th in my very first show, out of 8.....yes i know where i went wrong because i asked the judges....No.1 i wasnt lean enuf No.2 My evening wear was not tight enuf No.3 I believe i didnt show my BEST poise....nerves got to me BUT in this i learnt lessons and now im coming back leaner, harder and i will ROCK that stage with confidence, a million dollar smile and my best pose will be shown.......BUT hey give me your HONEST opion, im asking for it.
Hi Jamie You are 16 weeks out..right? You have plenty of time to strip the neccessary fat and work on those poses and confidence You definitely have what it takes...just go hard out girl!! Implement dieting strategy that Darrin recomends and you will be suprized how fast you will start shaping up
BTW my friend has asked me yesterday to whip her in shape(she never competed) She is good 15 kg over in my opinion and the comp is in 19 weeks...
Re: Have i got the right genes to compete?
16 weeks should be enough time to get leaner than last time. I will give you an honest critique on your "Figure" and what I think you need to work on over the next 16 weeks.
Genetically you have wide hips and fair sized legs and you seem to have a fairly small upper body. You need to increase the size of your back and shoulders to balance your lower body. Your waist is a little high but furtunately it is very tiny, I wouldnt have you do any oblique work they are fine.
Work on this balance and get leaner than last time and the competition better watch out.
Re: Have i got the right genes to compete?
Im absolutely on the right path then guys!....phewwww....My training prog has included lots of V taper exercises i.e. chin ups and lat pulldowns and lots of shoulder exercises
I do have big legs with lots of muscle and i think that i dont need to train them 'for size' but rather lots of 30-50reps of cable leg pulleys (front, back and inners) just to thin them out...What do you think Darrin? and ive been running 2 times a week....would this be enuf?
I also have big calves and scared i will increase the size of them through running too much, where i actually need to take muscle off (had lots of comments on how big they are)
How can i do this effectively?
This is a photo of 1st place Deanna Murphy, fantastic allround 'sportsmodel.
Re: Have i got the right genes to compete?
Hey you have definate potential The only areas i would build... is like Darrin said your back and also try to increase the size of your delts. When you build your delts and back it will give you a beautiful V taper and if your legs don't lean up like you'd wish--you'll still look balanced if you create the Vtaper!! Good luck in your prep!! You have lots of time
Re: Have i got the right genes to compete?
Thanks LA,
Could you help me with a question? How can i efficiently and effectively cut calf muscle down.....my calfs are BIG! and very well defined......is there a solution?
Re: Have i got the right genes to compete?
Well, you can make sure you do not work them at all. No calf training, no spinning, etc. Allthough at the end of the day, chances are if they are that big naturally they are probably going to stay that big. I have worked mine like pigs and they got really strong but are still sticks, I have a buddy with HUGE calfs and they are weak as hell...genetics.
Re: Have i got the right genes to compete?
Jamie..from the photo it does not look like you have these Huge calves you are talking about Just out of interest how big are they in cm? Mine are 38 cm which is around 15 inches. I am 166 cm tall or short LOL and 60.5 kg (133lb)right now
calfs
Im 165cm, currently 68kg and my calves are 41cm round....i feel they look to big for my body, but like darrin says, just dont train them....which is fine with me!
mmm maybe once i get the lats out more and the shoulders rounder they'll look more portioned?
Re: calfs
Hey no worries girl 41 is solid size but since you said you have about 10 kg to loose, they will trim a lot. Most people girls and boys would die for big calves, trust me...it is hardest bodypart to grow. I can see so many athletes with massive physique minus the calves Be happy and love them
Re: calfs
OK lovin them' i will.......but yes never had a problem with my calves, always get comments on them
So i succeeded tonight in running 20min straight! that is a HUGE accomplishment for me since i have always ran for 5min walked for 2min ran for 5 etc etc. So running home from the gym (20min run) im like "Jaime YOU can do it! focus! this is the big one RUNNNNNN and keep running" and lo and behold i made it alllll the way home! wooooooohooooo
