The chilly air holds the promise of an early winter at Hogwarts. Scattered rain and storms occur throughout the week, and the sky is constantly cloudy.
Previous experience: about 4 years, including: Harry's fifth year, Tria Legare, The Golden Ages, a Hogwarts Future game, ASU.
Codes:Correct - Admin.
In Character
Name: Harry James Potter
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Residence: The Burrow, Ottery St. Catchpole Year: Seventh
Blood:Half-Blood.
Pure blood father, Muggle-born Mother
Wand: eleven inches, Holly and phoenix feather, The feather is from Fawkes. It is the 'brother wand' Voldemort's, who also has a feather from Fawkes in his wand.
Harry feels that the holly is for hope and the Phoenix feather for loyalty.
Appearance:
Harry is slim and about 5 feet 9 inches. He's grown several inches in the past year, but still is not as tall as Ron. He doubts he will ever be that tall. He wears round dark or tortoise shell glasses. He has delicate, but not feminine, features. His short hair is black, straight, and rather unruly, with a cowlick at the crown that has never succumbed to a brush for more than a few minutes. Harry tries to keep his hair combed over his forehead to cover the scar that has been there since infancy.
Harry's eyes are a bright true green- sometimes the colour seems to leap out at one, so to speak. He usually has a friendly, pleasant expression on his face. He wouldn't call himself graceful, but when he isn't thinking about it, he moves with the natural grace of the born athlete. If he thinks too much about it, or gets nervous, he can be rather clumsy.
He likes to relax in jeans and rugger shirts or Weasley jumpers. Mrs. Weasley likes to dress him in green, so he wears a lot of that. Anything she's picked out for him will probably be green; it goes well with his eyes. He's also happy in Gryffindor colours. He doesn't own a muggle suit, but he does have some green formal robes for very special occasions.
Personality:
Harry has grown a lot more sure of himself, since he started at Hogwarts, but he still feels that his "greatness" has been "thrust upon him." He really would rather be a run-of-the-mill Wizard with parents still alive, than to be a famous orphan.
He doesn't fully appreciate his own strength of character and courage; he tends to underestimate them, and to say that anyone would do the same in the same circumstances. He is partly right about this, for many ordinary people will perform acts of heroism because they MUST. But many others will not even try. Courage is not being fearless, but doing the right thing, even when one is afraid of it.
Harry would tell you he is an ordinary boy in extraordinary circumstances. He hates the attention he gets for being "Harry Potter: the boy who lived," or "the Chosen One." He hated the attention he got for being a Tri-Wizard Champion.
Usually he doesn't mind the attention he gets for being great at quidditch, because it is something he is doing for himself and by himself. At times he even dislikes that attention, though, because he really doesn't want to do anything to alienate his best friend, Ron Weasley. Ron has generally stood in Harry's shadow, and it isn't easy for him.
Harry has learned over the years that it can be very hard to "forgive" your friend for being famous and a quidditch star and rich and Tri-wizard Champion. It is much easier to forgive a friend for a fight or a mean act, than it is for getting all the attention. (It is, of course, a different kind of forgiveness.)
It is a testament to their Friendship that Ron sticks by Harry, because Ron's unenviable "role" as the friend of "the famous Harry Potter" hasn't been easy. Harry really appreciates Ron's loyalty, and would do anything for him. Harry feels equally loyal to Hermione, but he's not fighting jealousy in her.
Harry is a very loving boy, who really only wants to be loved. Isn't that really what everyone is looking for? He longs for a family, and is probably happiest when he is visiting the Weasleys. He wanted very much to live with Sirius, but that was never to be.
He's not perfect, though, he can get mad about petty stuff, and do stupid things, just like anyone else. He takes chances, not only when necessary, but sometimes simply to do something he wants to do, not needs to do. He wants to fight that in himself, that reckless streak that he got from his father. He knows that Dumbledore was depending on him. He knows that the Order of the Phoenix is now missing two valuable members, Dumbledore, the beloved leader, and Snape, the murderous traitor.
Harry's greatest strength is Love. Love was what saved Harry when he was a baby, and his love for others is his greatest (perhaps his only) advantage over Voldemort.
His greatest weakness is giving in to hatred, which both weakens the force of his own magic and gives his Enemies power over him. (If you let someone make you angry, that is a power they have over you.)
History:
Harry's father and mother met at Hogwarts. James Potter was a pure-blood quidditch player and Lily Evans was a Muggle-born wizard of high intellect and excellent Magical Abilities. It wasn't love at first sight; James pursued Lily for some time before they began dating in their Seventh Year. The couple married young, and had a child young. Harry was born July 31, 1980.
It was a bad day to be born. A deatheater had overheard part of a prophecy Sybil Trelawney chanted while in a trance. She said the one who could defeat the Dark Lord would be born as the Seventh Month died.
There were two Wizarding babies who fulfilled the terms of the prophecy, born as the Seventh month died to parents who had thrice defyed the Dark Lord. One of those the Dark Lord would mark as his Equal. Half-blood Tom Riddle chose Half-blood Harry Potter to kill. He may have been meaning to make a Horcrux with the death of Harry, the boy predicted to be able to destroy him. It didn’t work the way Voldemort planned. Harry’s mother defended him with her very life, although she could have stepped aside and lived. Defended by ancient and strong magic, by blood ties and mother-love, Harry became the first person to be hit by an Avada Kedavra curse and live.
Voldemort was hit by his own curse, which rebounded and nearly killed him. Harry was left with a jagged scar on his forehead. Voldemort was left less than human and only alive because of the Horcruxes he had created.
Harry was taken by Dumbledore to his nearest living relations, his mother’s Muggle sister, Petunia Dursley, and her family. The Dursleys hated Magic and thought Petunia’s Witch sister was a horrible freak. Even though they knew Harry was probably a Wizard, they tried to make him into a Muggle by denying the existence of magic.
Harry was punished when he unconsciously used his abilities to protect himself. He was shouted at if he mentioned magic, or anything to do with magic. Although the Dursleys had a four-bedroom home and only one child, a boy about Harry’s age, they put Harry’s bed in the cupboard below the stairs. It was probably safer there for Harry, once Cousin Dudley grew old enough to begin beating Harry up.
Although he was punished for them, Amazing Things continued to happen to Harry. When his letter from Hogwarts came, his Uncle got hold of it and destroyed it. More letters arrived, and Harry was wild to get hold of them, but Uncle Vernon prevented him Finally a huge man arrived and explained to Harry that he was a Wizard and was invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The huge man was Hagrid, the groundskeeper at Hogwarts. He took Harry for his first trip into the Wizarding world. Harry was thrilled to discover that he would not have to go to the horrible school Uncle Vernon had chosen for him, nor live with the Dursleys during the school year. That would have been enough, even if he hadn’t been a Wizard!
Harry was NOT thrilled to discover that he was famous in the Wizarding world. It was a bit unnerving to have people stare at his scar, which never really bothered him before, and recognize him as Harry Potter. He wasn’t going to get used to it any time soon.
Harry’s first year at Hogwarts was mostly good. He learned to fly..To FLY! and to play Quidditch. He made some friends, and a few enemies. His biggest enemies were Draco Malfoy, a snobby rich boy, and Potions Professor Snape, who seemed to hate Harry right from his first class.
His best friends were Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. They were in his House and proved themselves trustworthy friends. At the end of the year, these three young children together prevented Voldemort from stealing the Philosopher’s Stone.
* *
The summer before his second year, Harry met Dobby, a House Elf who begged Harry not to return to Hogwarts. He could not tell Harry why, only that there would be danger there. Dobby couldn’t prevent Harry from returning, so he prevented Harry and Ron from reaching Platform 9 3/4. The boys foolishly took Mr. Weasley’s flying car to Hogwarts, arriving late, hitting and harming the Whomping Willow tree. The angry car escaped into the forest. Mr. Weasley got in trouble for having a flying Muggle car. And Harry and Ron got in trouble for flyiong it to school.
Hermione was appalled when she learned how House Elves are kept in slavery, and started the Society for the Protection of Elf Workers, or S.P.E.W. Not too many people were interested, although some joined simply to get her off their backs.
Soon, though, there were worse things to worry about. Something was attacking students. Poor Hagrid was taken away to the Wizarding Prison, suspected of causing the attacks. Harry and Ron had an adventure in the forest, where the now wild flying car saved them from giant spiders.
Hermione figured out the monster was a basilisk, but was petrified before she could tell anyone. Ron and Harry went into the ancient Chamber of Secrets to save Ron’s sister, Ginny. With the help of Fawkes the Phoenix, they destroyed the basilisk, and the evil diary that had possessed Ginny and was gaining a life of its own.
Harry also managed to trick Draco Malfoy’s father into freeing the mistreated House Elf, Dobby. Hagrid was returned to Hogwarts.

Harry’s third year began with the news that Mass Muggle Murderer, Sirius Black, had escaped from Prison. The Ministry officials thought Black was coming to kill Harry Potter. Dementors, horrible guards from the Wizarding Prison, searched the Hogwarts Express. Harry fainted when they came in his compartment, much to the delight of Draco Malfoy, who teased Harry about it for weeks. The new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, Remus Lupin, taught Harry to produce a Patronus to ward off Dementors.
Ron and Hermione fought about her cat, Crookshanks. Finally Scabbers, Ron’s rat, disappeared and he accused Crookshanks of killing Scabbers. Hermione spent a lot of time researching the defense of Buckbeak, who had been provoked by Draco Malfoy into attacking. The Ministry seemed determined to kill the innocent beastie, but Hermione worked hard finding legal precedents.
The day poor innocent Buckbeak was to be executed, Ron discovered Scabbers hiding in Hagrid’s house, The three discovered that Scabbers was actually Peter Pettigrew, a former friend of Harry’s parents, believed to be a hero. They found that Pettigrew was actually guilty of the Murders Sirius went to prison for. And Ron and Harry found out that Lupin was a werewolf. (Hermione had already figured that out.)
Harry found out that his father’s best friend, Sirius, hadn’t committed any murders, nor been the person who betrayed his parents to Voldemort. He had, for a short while, a kind Godfather , and the prospect of happy summers with someone who actually loved him.
Scabbers/Pettigrew escaped, and with him, any proof that Sirius was innocent. Snape captured Black, and it looked as if the Ministry officials would have him destroyed there in the school. Hermione and Harry used Hermione’s Time-turner to save Buckbeak and Sirius Black, who went into hiding.

Harry’s fourth year began with the exciting World Quidditch Cup. Not all excitement is good. Masked former deatheaters tormented the Muggles who owned the site rented for the World Cup Game.
‘Safely’ back at school, the students found out that there would be a Wizarding tournament at Hogwarts that year. Most of the Students at Hogwarts wished to be the Hogwarts Champion, the contestant from Hogwarts in the Tri-Wizard Tourney. The competition was limited to those at least 16 years old. Somehow, Harry’s name was chosen along with Cedric Diggory, the Hogwarts Champion, and the other champions. Ron was furious with him. Believing that Harry had entered his own name, he was angry that Harry had not helped Ron enter his name too.
Helped by Cedric, Ludo Bagman, (a ministry official) and Dobby the House Elf, Harry did well in the challenges. After the first challenge, Ron made up with Harry, finally believing that Harry had not entered his own name. Draco Malfoy and his friends did his best to tease Harry about not being the real Hogwarts champion. Harry watched Ron develop the signs of Jealousy when Quidditch Star and Champion of the Durmstrang school, Viktor Crum, courted Hermione. Harry dealt unsuccessfully with his crush on Cho Chang.
Just life as usual, until the final challenge. Cedric and Harry grasped the trophy together, wishing to be joint-champions. A Deatheater, disguised as Professor Moody, had made the trophy into a port key. The two lads were transported to a gathering of Deatheaters. Voldemort ordered Cedric killed at once, and Harry barely escaped with his life. But before he could escape, Voldemort used some of Harry’s blood to form himself a new body.
Harry returned to Hogwarts clutching the dead Cedric. Dumbledore believed Harry, and told the entire studentry* that Voldemort had returned and had murdered Cedric.

That summer the Ministry of Magic used the Daily Prophet to disseminate the idea that Dumbledore was past it and Harry was delusional. The Ministry of Magic sent Harry to trial for using magic when attacked by a dementor during the summer. Fortunately Harry was not convicted of wrongdoing.
That summer Harry also discovered the existence of an anti-deatheater group called the Order of the Phoenix, led by Professor Dumbledore. It was no surprise that Sirius, Remus Lupin, Professor McGonagall, and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley were members. He was surprised, though, to find that Professor Snape was a member, free to come and go in their secret headquarters.
When Harry got back to Hogwarts he found out many people thought he was delusional or a liar. No one wanted to believe that Voldemort was alive; it was much easier to believe that Harry was certifiable.
The Ministry sent the horrible Delores Umbridge, (who had voted Guilty in Harry’s trial) to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts. She punished Harry for saying Voldemort was alive, by forcing him to write lines with a quill that carved the letters into his hand. He still bears the thin white scars spelling out : I must not tell likes, on the back of his right hand.
Umbridge only taught things from books, mostly a feel-good, understand your enemy, mediation techniques sort of Defense. Utter worthless Rot. Hermione and Ron convinced Harry to teach them what he could about real Defense against the Dark Arts. Quite a group of students wanted to learn; they called their group Dumbledore’s Army.
Harry also discovered the Link he had with Voldemort seemed much stronger. He was able to warn people and save Arthur Weasley after he’d been bitten by Voldemort’s snake. Dumbledore made Harry take Occlumency Lessons with Snape, to help him close his mind to Voldemort’s. Harry resisted because he hated Snape. Finally he went too far, looking into a Pensieve and seeing a memory Snape had wanted to keep hidden from Harry. Harry saw his father and Sirius , both Fifth year students, humiliate a Fifth year Snape. Snape was livid when he found Harry looking at his memory. He ordered Harry out of his office forever.
Harry never shared that incident with Hermione and Ron. He thought Snape would surely kill him, and he actually felt guilty at having seen it - guilty, and almost sorry for Snape. James Potter hadn’t been the perfect bloke Harry had imagined; and Harry knew he shouldn’t have looked into the Pensieve.
Near the end of he year, Harry had a vision of Sirius captured by Deatheaters in the Ministry building. Harry and five of his friends went to the Ministry to save Sirius, and found it was a trap engineered by Voldemort, to lure Harry to the Hall of Prophecy. The teenagers fought the Deatheaters, including Lucius Malfoy and his sister-in-law, Belatrix LeStrange.
Sirius and other members of the Order of the Phoenix came to rescue the students, and in the ensuing fight, Belatrix killed her cousin, Sirius Black. Dumbledore fought Voldemort, but they both survived. The Minister of Magic actually saw Voldemort and had to admit he was, indeed, alive.
* * * * * *
Harry spent only a short time with the Dursleys that summer. Dumbledore came and collected him, taking him to the Weasleys’ home, where he was happy. But the Wizarding world was in fear. Even Draco Malfoy had to shop with his nervous mother, (his father being in prison for the attack at the Ministry)
Harry, Hermione, and Ron followed Draco to Bourgin and Bourkes where they listened in on his conversation, but could make no sense of it. Harry was convinced Malfoy was up to something, but Hermione and Ron were not convinced.
When they got to school, they found that Snape was to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts, and the new professor Slughorn, (actually an old, retired professor) was to teach Potions. That allowed Harry and Ron to study Potions, (which gives Harry a chance to apply for auror training whne he leaves Hogwarts) but they had to borrow books from a pile of old ones Slughorn had in the classroom.
Harry’s borrowed book was full of new spells and secrets of better potion making. Inside the book, it said it was the property of the half-blood prince. Harry used the hints handwritten in the book and became the best Potions student in the class, to Hermione’s chagrin.
Harry also found out that from being considered a nut case, he had gone to being looked upon as a hero, the “chosen one.” Girls who had never given him the time of day before were suddenly swarming around him like bees - giggling, silly bees.
Dumbledore began teaching Harry abut Voldemort’s past. Harry continued to obsess about Draco Malfoy, convinced he was plotting something terrible. Two students were attacked, the second one being Ron, poisoned by some wine that had been intended for Dumbledore. Ron and Hermione thought Harry was simply being obsessive about Malfoy. They, meanwhile, seemed to be obsessing about each other, each trying to make the other jealous. Meanwhile Harry was wrestling with his own growing attraction for Ginny.
The New Minister of Magic wanted Harry to be a sort of poster boy, telling everyone think that he (Harry) thought the Ministry was doing a bang-up job rounding up Deatheaters and finding Voldemort. Harry declined.
Harry’s life was made a bit simpler when Ron and Hermione seemed to come to an understanding. Lavender Brown, who really cared for Ron, was very hurt. Ginny, too, fell in with his plans and into his arms. Life might be really good if it wasn’t for Voldemort.
Voldemort, Harry had learned, had split his soul into seven pieces, so he could never be killed until they were all destroyed. Dumbledore took Harry out to find one of he Horcruxes, the items that held bits of Voldemort’s soul safe. Dumbledore was nearly dead by the time they came back, and found Hogwarts under attack. Draco Malfoy reached Dumbledore, who disabled Harry, (under his invisibility cloak) Harry could only watch as Dumbledore tried to convince Draco to come to the right side and not kill him. Several Deatheaters burst in, and finally Snape came and killed Dumbledore.
Harry had been correct, Draco had been trying to kill Dumbledore all year. But Dumbledore had always been so certain that Snape was on his side. Harry was shocked but furious. As Snape and Draco fled, Harry learned that Snape had been the ‘half-blood prince,’ former owner of his Potions book.
Harry decide not to return to Hogwarts the next year, he would hunt down the Horcruxes.
* * * * * * *
Harry now hates Snape worse than he hates Voldemort, Snape was trusted by the Order and that makes him somehow more blameworthy than than Voldemort. He hasn't forgot Pettigrew, either, and hates him.
Harry visited the Dursleys’ house on the first day of summer hols, then moved in with the Weasley family, as he had done he summer before. He actually hugged Petunia, sorry to be leaving his mother’s sister, when it came down to it, although he had no use for his uncle or cousin. Petunia had shuddered and drawn away in fear, which hurt Harry terribly.
“I would never hurt you, Aunt Petunia,” he said sadly. “You’re my mom’s sister.”
Harry made sure that they had a muggle address, a post office box in London, where he could be reached by mail. The box is enchanted to transport the mail within to a post office in Diagon Alley from which it is sent by Owls to the Wizards and Witches. The Owls are trained to collect a small fee for the mail they deliver. The clerk who handles the Muggle Mail is Muggle-born, and perfectly understands the difference between advertisements and personal mail.
-----
Harry hardly noticed how lovely Fleur was at her wedding, so taken was he with Bridesmaid Ginny. Part of Harry wants Ginny to get well away from him, it’s bad enough that he puts Ron in danger simply by existing. But part of him wants her at his side. He feels guilty when he’s with her, that he is endangering her. But part of him says that she was already in Mortal Danger a year ago. Mrs. Weasley’s clock has said so since Voldemort returned to Great Britain.
He has offered the house at 12 Grimmauld Place for the Headquarters of the Order. He cannot imagine living there himself. He may have to when he leaves school, but he considers Hogwarts and the Burrow home.
--
After Bill's & Fleur's wedding, Harry visited Godric’s Hollow. After the initial shock and sadness began to wear off, he found himself thinking about Horcruxes. What if Voldemort had made one at his mother’s death? Would someone have carried it off?
Had Voldemort wanted to make a Horcrux at his, Harry’s, death? If so, what object had he prepared? and had it been destroyed or lost when Harry didn’t die? Everything Harry saw was a potential Horcrux, and he realized he didn’t even know how to identify one.
He had to have help. Hermione and Ron were great, but he needed a more experienced magician. They convinced him that he had to go back to school, to finish at Hogwarts. Harry knew he needed every advantage he could get, and that his best hope probably lay in finishing his magical education. Truthfully, he is a little relieved; it gives him some time, not only to seek for Horcruxes, but to put off going after Snape and Voldemort.
---
Harry hadn't told anyone but Ron and Hermione about the Horcruxes. But at the beginning of the school year, having discussed it with his friends at the Weasleys' home, he took Professor McGonagall into his confidence. Dumbledore's strictures of secrecy surely did not extend past the grave, not to the one who must replace him and had the best right to know.
Harry showed Professor McGonagall which bottled memories Dumbledore had shown him, and told her what Dumbledore had said and suspected about the Horcruxes. Then he recounted the events of that terrible night, and showed her the locket and the note he'd found inside.
He has also asked her to teach him to be an animagus, an unregistered animagus. Unregistered, he may be able to use the animagus ability to escape some emergency situation.
At this time, Harry is hoping to put his fears and anger away for a while and to enjoy the last bits of youth he may ever have a chance to experience: his last year of school, his last school quidditch games, perhaps even his blossoming romance with Ginny.
Preferred house: Gryffindor
Pet: Hedwig, a Snowy Owl
Class elective: Herbology
Role play sample:
Harry hurried to the Seventh Floor and found the hallway he sought. I need to find the hiding place room, he thought as he walked up and down the hall.
The Room of Requirement. Professor Trewlawny had used it to hide her stash of liquor bottles, Draco Malfoy had used it to hide the Vanishing Cabinet. After he'd passed the place three times, Harry looked back to see the door where blank stone wall had been a second before.
Entering the room he wandered a bit, trying to recall where he had hidden his Potions book. After a few false starts, he found the way through the piles of hidden articles that led him to the familiar bust with a wig on it.
Securing his book, Harry opened it, filled with loathing for the Half-blood Prince.
I'm going to search this book from cover to cover, he thought. If I can, I'll find something in here to use against you.
Shoving the book into his bag, Harry distracted himself from his anger by looking around. There were really old things here, hidden by students generations ago. He idly picked up a few of the items, forcing his heart to stop pounding. It pounded that way when Harry thought about Snape, and what he had done.
Here was a book on black magic printed in the 1800s next to a copy of A DOUBLE LIFE: Isaac Newton, Arithmancer and Muggle Scientist. Here was a Zonko's bag full of items on Filch's contraband list.
Harry's attention was drawn to the biography. Who would need to hide a biography? As he picked up A DOUBLE LIFE, a letter fell from it.
Addressed only to Harold Brownlow, the slightly brittle paper read:
I love you. Meet me in the library and we can walk to the greenhouses together.
burn this! P
For whatever reason, Harold hadn't burnt the letter, he had hidden it.
Feeling like he was prying. Harry folded the cracking paper up and placed it carefully back into the book. Muggle paper, not parchment, and cracking with age. How long ago had the mysterious P met with Harold Brownlow? It could be generations. And what if..... Harry gasped.
What if Voldemort made another Horcrux while he was still at Hogwarts? Harry thought, suddenly wide-eyed. What if he hid it in here? He gasped.
Something of value. it would have been something of value. Something that, if anyone ever took it from this room, would be so valuable and wonderful, no one would destroy it.
A Horcrux sitting in a place of honour in a home or museum, valued and cared for.
Harry looked around, feeling helpless. There might well be a Horcrux in this room piled with centuries' worth of things hidden and never reclaimed. But how could he ever find it, even if it was there? Edited by: Arabella Lee Smith at: 9/12/05 7:28 am
Hello, Fiona. Thank you for applying at Impervius. However, there are few things I'd like to see fixed before we can accept you.
First of all, when we ask for residence we have in mind the actual place where Harry resides. Where is it? We know that he was planning to leave Privet Drive after his 17th birthday, but where does he live now?
And also it's Gryffindor, not Gryffendor.
I'm sorry, but I will have to ask you to exclude the whole Lily's friend bit. She isn't in the books, and it is highly unlikely that Harry would have never mentioned her to anyone. Impervius is a very canon board, and we are somewhat wary about such stuff especially when it involves such important canon characters.
History has to be detailed, and I don't see this in your app. You have to include ALL Harry's years at Hogwarts, as well much of the stuff you didn't write about. Sure, everybody knows all about Harry's life, but character's bio is a part of the app, which helps you to understand the character so much more.
You should also reread your app carefully once you're done fixing it. There are many errors and they need to be fixed.
I just spent 2 and a half hours on the other computer, the one with Spell check, working on this application-- and the spell checker destroyed my file.
anyway, I wanted to let you know I haven't dropped off the face of the earth, but I may not get this finished today, because I have to re write the history I just lost.
Re: Harry Potter, Seventh Year
Okay, I have removed and added as requested. and this time I saved and saved every five minutes so It would't get destroyed.
Re: Harry Potter, Seventh Year
I'm very sorry, but we had come to a decission to accept Elle's application. Yours was brilliant too, so it was quite a difficult choice for us to make.
You are welcome to apply for another character, of course
