In Character
Name: Harry James Potter
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Residence:
Year: 7th
Blood: Pure-blooded
Wand: Eleven inches, Holly and Phoenix feather for the core. The Phoenix feather is from the phoenix Fawkes, which is a pet of Dumbledore. Fawkes also gave another feather, which was given in the wand that Voldemort had gotten. This can prove the the wands also will not work right against each other because of that special Fawkes.
Appearance: (Avatar is Daniel Radcliffe) Harry Potter for the most part, is a healthy boy with enough to eat and enough sleep. He is average height for a seventeen-year-old boy which is about 5"6' and has a wide smile which bears teeth that are perfectly straight and white. He has thin lips and high cheekbones. His skin is not the least but pale, but tanned and peach-colored which is flawless without a single mark on his face, making him look some years younger than he really is. His eyes are almond-shaped and are bright, electrifying green irises with specks of blue scattered among them, that is said to he had gotten from his mother (which might be the only feature that Harry inherited from his mother, while everything else was from his father. In the movie, Harry's eyes are a pale blue) Harry also has a thin, but muscular, which is also average for a boy (we emphasize how average and ordinary looking Harry is so that we believe that he is ordinary despite how extraordinary he is.) Harry is said to look much like his father, extraordinarily like his father (but his mother's eyes) and once example of how he resembles his father is his hair. Harry's hair is very unruly and unorganized for Harry found that he could never make it do what he wants it to do.
When Harry is at the Dursley's house for summer vacation, he is dressed in Dudley's leftover clothes, which are much to big for Harry because Dudley has four times Harry's size. These clothes are usually faded from their color and very lanky on him, for they tend to slip off often. However, when at Hogwarts, Harry dresses more like himself and is away from anything that is too small or too big for him. He likes the comfortable attire and loves to wear jeans, while the shirts vary. However, over those comfort clothes, Harry is usually wearing the black cloak, which is the uniform for the Hogwarts students. His favorite colors include gold and maroon (which are the colors of the Gryffindor house.) His Quidditch attire consists of usual padding and such, and the only colors featured are gold, maroon and black. On the black cloak of both the Hogwarts uniform and the Quidditch uniform is plastered the Gryffindor house symbol, which is gold and maroon which features a lion and saying "Gryffindor" across the top on a scroll.
Personality: The common trait in a Gryffindor is their bravery and chivalry. For Harry, this description is beyond correct. His courage and bravery is the one thing that makes Harry stand out the most. Harry is more than willing to jump into battle, not even thinking of the outcomes. He does what is right, regardless of the outcome may be. Although this sort of trait is commonly good to have, this also can be Harry's downfall. Quite truthfully, Harry doesn't seem to know when to quit and if he disregards the outcome, it could lead to his death, something that Harry refuses to see. Harry is, and will always be, loyal to the ones who return the favor. Such as examples with Albus Dumbledore and Sirius Black. His loyalty not only surfaces for his family, but also his friends as he has shown with Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley. His sort of loyalty doesn't just stop at a certain point, Harry's loyalty makes Harry one of the trustworthiest people to his friends and family. His willing to jump into something to save you and is willing to help you no matter what outcome makes Harry stand out above all rest because Harry doesn't regard the outcome. As said before, Harry does what is right, no matter how the consequence could be. Though it is known that Harry lies particularly to his teacher, Severus Snape, Harry is most like one the of the most honest people you'll ever know. For the most part, if Harry feels that he can trust you, he is more than willing to speak the truth to you. His honesty also makes him blunt, for he's not afraid to speak his mind, unless it something that bothers him.
Harry is also said to be curious and “nosy?for lack of a better word. His curiosity causes him much, much trouble. But because of the death of his parents, Harry feels obligated that if he were to stick his nose in something, there is more than a likely chance that he’ll learn something new about his parents and how they were. There is also a likely chance that Harry would find out more about Voldemort if pursued his eagerness to find out what is going on. Harry is also extremely stubborn, but does know when stop. His stubbornness only really shows when he feels that he is entirely correct and there is no doubt in his mind. Harry can also be a little gullible, especially when it comes to dangers of the people he respects or cares for. His gullible nature definitely causes him trouble, but if he has a sensible mind, he’ll put his foot down. Harry can also keep his thoughts and his feelings to himself, he does this too keep himself safe But he will open up to anyone he feels he can trust.
History: Harry James Potter was born precisely on July 31 from James Potter and Lily Evans. After a year of being born with his family, Harry lost both his mother and father due to the murder of Lord Voldemort (also named Tom Marvolo Riddle Jr.) In this instant, Harry Potter became enormously famous, for Lord Voldemort was the most feared wizard within a century and Harry Potter survived a curse that was said to kill someone without fail, this curse being called Avada Kedavra. Having to be an orphan at the age of 1, Harry was then forced to live with his last remaining relative, his Aunt Petunia Evans and her husband Vernon Dursley (who also had a son named Dudley.) For eleven years, the Dursleys had treated Harry like dirt because of his heritage of having magic in his blood. The Dursleys, wanting to 'squash the magic out of him,' kept his heritage hidden from him and instead telling him that his parents had died due to a car accident. Harry was forced to do everything inside the house and out, live in the cupboard under the stairs, watch jealously as Dudley got many presents where he received none and was forced to go to Mrs. Figgs house whenever the went out somewhere. Harry Potter grew up with no knowledge of his being a wizard, the real truth to why his parents died, why he was famous or even the fact that he was famous.
But one day, Harry received a letter that was written to him and when he was just about to open it, Uncle Vernon snatched it from his hands. Tearing the letter in Harry's face, he said that Harry would never be able to read what was in the letter. But after several days of the letters coming and Vernon or Petunia able to get rid of them, they packed everything up, took the car and drove to a hotel room. The room was near the sea and with a horrid rainstorm in current passing; Harry was forced to sleep on the four with only his clothing for warmth. But one loud bag knocked on the door and a giant man named Rubeus Hagrid stood in the doorway and was able to tell Harry the truth about his heritage and his parents despite the protests from the Dursleys. Finally, Harry knew that he was a wizard.
That same month, Harry had packed all his things, and went to meet Hagrid to buy his wizard things in Diagon Alley. And soon, Harry was at Platform 9 3/4, on his way to Hogwarts. While on the train ride, Harry was able to meet his future two best friends, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger. He also met his archenemy (besides Lord Voldemort), Draco Malfoy on the train ride. Arriving at Hogwarts, Harry was sorted in Gryffindor and life at Hogwarts was like living in heaven for Harry. Despite the usual mutterings and pointed fingers behind his back, Harry loved Hogwarts and felt that it was like a home to him. Here at Hogwarts, he met so many people and went through so much, such as Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts and someone Harry trusts and respects greatly. Harry lived a carefree life, not thinking much of Lord Voldemort during his first year, but was focused on Hogwarts events such as he being on the Gryffindor Quidditch team and being the youngest to be on a house team in a century. Harry hadn't expected he would again meet Voldemort in his first year however, when he fought Lord Voldemort for the Sorcerer's Stone. Managing to barely escape, Harry went back to the Dursley's for the summer holiday. He again, met Lord Voldemort in his second year but this time in a memory of a book and also barely managing to escape him again. Then, during his third year, Harry met Remus Lupin, an old friend of his fathers and Sirius Black, his godfather and best friend of his father. In this year, he also learned the truth to how his parents died when Peter Pettigrew betrayed them to Lord Voldemort. Then, during his fourth year, he was entered into the TriWizard Tournament and had witnessed Lord Voldemort literally return to his body and was thriving once more.
After going home from his fourth year, Harry had kept his eyes and ears out for any news on Voldemort, but the Ministry of Magic had kept hushed that Voldemort had returned and instead turned against Harry by saying false accusations and facts about him. Returning to his fifth year, Harry had learn why Voldemort had tried to kill him and about the Prophecy. While fighting the Death Eaters (followers of Voldemort), Harry saw his godfather, Sirius Black die when he fell into a door that was supposed to be the door of life and death. Harry returned to the Dursleys again for his summer holiday. During his sixth year, Harry did not encounter Lord Voldemort, but began to live through Hogwarts in the time of here and now. He learned about Voldemort's past and about the seven Horcruxes that Voldemort used to make himself immortal. During that year also, Dumbledore had died at the hands of a former death eater that Dumbledore trusted, Severus Snape (also someone whom Harry hates almost as much as Malfoy.) As request of Dumbledore, Harry was to return to the Dursleys one more time, then neglect school and search for the remaining horcruxes to rid Voldemort once and for all.
The Lost Prophecy
The Prophecy of Harry Potter happened just a month before Harry was born. The Prophecy was given by Sybil Trelawney, granddaughter of the Seer Cassandra Trelawney and witnessed by Albus Dumbledore. The Prophecy was recorded at the Hogsmeade "The Three Broomsticks" a place where it is full of life. When the Prophecy was given, a death eater (which happened to be Severus Snape) had overheard it and went straight to his master to tell him about it. The Prophecy, obviously, was about Lord Voldemort and Harry Potter himself. Clearly stated, the Prophecy said this: "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches....Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies....and the Dark Lord will mark him his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives...the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..." When Dumbledore had told Harry this, he explained that there were two children born as the seventh month died and had their parents thrice defied them, Neville Longbottom and Harry Potter. Dumbledore then told him that Voldemort chose Harry Potter, and that Harry was not obligated to become the boy the prophecy was talking about, that Voldemort made Harry his equal. Dumbledore also explained the Snape hadn't heard the entire prophecy and what Voldemort did not know, was that Voldemort would be marking him equal, therefore giving Harry the power to vanquish him.
The Boy who Lived and The Chosen One
Harry Potter was given two names that most people would refer him to. The first one, is "The Boy who Lived" which is the named that they gave Harry after he survived a curse that was supposedly unstoppable. This particular name is extraordinary because of the story behind it, where Harry should have died when the curse was cast upon him, instead the spell backfired and nearly left Voldemort to die. "The Chosen One" was given to him later on in his life where people started calling him that because of the prophecy. "The Chosen One" named Harry as the only one who can kill Voldemort and rid the wizarding world of any type of evil forever.
Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew
In Harry's third year of being at Hogwarts, Harry received notification that Sirius Black broke out of the wizard prison Azkaban and was searching for Harry to kill him. To many, Black had joined with Voldemort who had become his 'right-hand man' and had betrayed his best friend and his wife (Harry's father, James and mother, Lily) to Voldemort when they went into hiding. He then was sent to Azkaban when the Ministry caught him when he cornered another good friend of James, Peter Pettigrew and blasted him into oblivion along with twelve other muggles. Harry also encountered his new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Remus Lupin, who was also a good friend of James and Sirius. However, during the school year, Harry found that the story was wrong. After followed Ron (who was snatched by a big black dog, who was Sirius Black) into the shrieking shack, Harry found out that it was Peter Pettigrew who betrayed his parents not Black. Pettigrew was in hiding from both his friends who knew the truth and from his master and his followers, for Pettigrew hadn't been dead at all. He was also an Animagi and could turn into a rat, and when cornered by Black that day, he blasted the entire corner (along with the twelve muggles) and purposely left a finger to trap Black into going to Azkaban. After finding out the truth from Lupin and Black, Pettigrew had escaped and returned to his Dark Lord.
James and Lily Potter
Harry's parents were said to be noble and brave. James, back in the days where he had attended school was said to be a mischief-maker, and was constantly in trouble, something that Harry himself had inherited from him. James and Sirius would patrol the school as if they owned it and James became arrogant and a little show-off. However, along with those, James was also a good man. He would help any who was in trouble, despite if he hated them or not. He grew out of immature style and lived through known as a good man. Lily was also a good person, she saw through others like water and constantly believed in others even when they did not. She helped many people out of tight spots despite that she might sacrifice herself. Lily had saved Harry when she died to protect him, a powerful and ancient magic that Lord Voldemort knew nothing about, which could possibly be the magic that was talked about in the Lost Prophecy.
Preferred house: Gryffindor
Pet: Hedwig, a snowy owl
Class elective: Care of Magical Creatures
Role play sample: The stairs that lead to the Entrance of the Hogwarts Castle seemed to be one times a trillion. And Harry Potter was quite tired of climbing down the stairs to enter the Great Hall and sit where the Gryffindor table was, as it usually was there. He was beginning to feel a little light-hearted as he piled in the Hall with the other students and walking quickly to take a seat at the Gryffindor table next to whoever wanted to sit next to him (but he made sure to save seats for Ron and Hermione.) He walked pass the Hufflepuffs on his left and the Slytherins on his right, and sat himself at the front of the Gryffindor table, the seat closest to the Staff table at the head of the hall. Immediately his eyes shot to the center of the table, expecting to see Professor Dumbledore sitting there with a glint in his eye was this dream was quickly shattered when he saw Headmistress McGonagall sitting there instead. Feeling a little guilty at his stab of pain to find McGonagall there, he turned his head from the staff table and back to what was in front of him. He was already feeling a little uneasy about the whole thing and absently looked at his broken watch to make himself look busy. But upon realization that his watch was broken, he slapped himself mentally and told himself to remind him to buy a new one during the first trip to Hogsmeade. The banner overhead that showed of the Gryffindor crest and a Lion in the center of it swayed to the wind that was passing through the great hall from the rush of the upperclassmen that entered the Hall. Harry knew that the first years would enter upon the lead of the new Deputy Headmaster or Headmistress in precisely nine o'clock that evening and Harry glanced at a fellow Gryffindors watch to find it was eight forty-five right now. That left fifteen minutes until the sorting started.
He glanced around the Hall, studying the house tables and his eyes rested immediately at the staff table. He absently looked for Malfoy, only to remember that he wouldn't be attending Hogwarts this year after what happened last year. At this thought, Harry scolded himself, he had told people that Malfoy was up to something, but nobody believed him when he said that Malfoy was a death eater in place of his father. Hermione and Ron included. Even Lupin had neglected to listen to Harry, and Harry was becoming quite infuriated of how he was treated, especially since he turned out to be right about everything. Sighing at this thought, his anger flashed away as he skimmed the Slytherin table, their faces showing smirks and cocky attitudes as they always did. When Harry was younger, this was the exact kind of thing that got him angry, but over the years, Harry had become used to the Slytherins and more likely ignored them to pick a fight with them. His eyes drifted away from the Slytherin table and rested on the Hufflepuff table. There he could see the Hufflepuffs that he had met before, Justin Fletch-Flincty and Susan Bones. Harry hadn't got to know much Hufflepuffs, but from past experiences they were nice people who really minded their own business. He then focused his gaze upon the Ravenclaw table and saw the girl that had popped her head in at the train ride to greet her friends. Harry didn't see Luna's face among the Ravenclaw table yet, but he saw the girl that had occupied the compartment along with Ginny, Luna and himself. He suddenly felt a little guilty for not knowing the girl's name and made a mental note to himself to ask her and greet her properly so that he didn't make a fool of himself or didn't give her the respect that she deserved.
Harry's eyes then returned to the staff table. He saw that Professor McGonagall was at the center of the table where Dumbledore had once been. She was looking sternly over the table, watching with scrutiny at the house tables, her eyes seemingly lingering at the Slytherin table. Harry felt sorry for McGonagall, and he was sure that all students felt pity for her. She had to take the place of Headmistress almost immediately after Dumbledore had died, and that was hard to comprehend, Harry could only imagine how hard it was. He gave a sympathetic look to Professor McGonagall, not caring if she had seen it or not. Then his eyes reverted to the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Raine. She was slightly younger than Harry had imagined and when Harry had left last year, he was kind of wishing that Lupin had returned to teaching, but knew that it was highly unlikely. Whatever the matter, Raine looked as if she knew what she was doing and Harry had to give her the benefit of the doubt. Then Harry rested on the Care of Magical Creatures seat, which happened to also be empty. Harry had known that Hagrid was off doing something (what, Harry didn't know) but he had expected to see the former Professor of Care of Magical Creatures that taught during Harry's first, second, and fifth year, which were the years that Hagrid wasn't teaching. Professor Gavern was a good teacher, and though she was kind and caring, Harry's heart had sunk when he didn't see Hagrid at the staff table. He wondered where Professor Gavern was now, but discarded the thought as he looked toward the also empty Transfiguration seat. Harry's eyebrows cocked slightly, the Transfiguration teacher was be an all new teacher since that Professor McGonagall had always taught Transfiguration during Harry's school year. He suddenly realized how different this year at Hogwarts would be. But Professor Slughorn was currently speaking with Professor Raine as Harry watched intently. There were polite exchange of words, but Harry found nothing useful between the words.
He sighed and returned to stare in front of him, which happened to be a brown colored wall. He wanted the sorting to begin so badly so that the feast would end and Harry could retreat to the covers on his bed. He just wanted to sleep and dream away from his place. For the past couple of nights, Harry was able to escape the reality world when he dreamed of being upon Buckbeak like he was on his third year. He was able to fly away from everything and have not a care in the world. It was such a feeling, Harry had almost forgotten what not having a care in the world had felt like, but then he was always awoken harshly without finishing the dream and therefore always left hanging, just as he was on this world. He hated life right, if he wanted to be honest, he hated the life he was leading. Why couldn't he just be...normal? Why couldn't he be like everyone else here? Have his parents, have someone else take the burden of defeating Voldemort, why did it have to be him? And why in the bloody hell did Voldemort chose him to mark Harry his equal? Harry's anger rose at this thought and tried to use all his self-control to calm himself, only to find that he was just angrier. Dumbledore had told him before that it wasn't destiny that made Harry have this scar, but it was Voldemort himself who had marked Harry. It was Voldemort's choice, not destiny's. It made sense, in a sort of odd way, but it did. But Harry knew that Voldemort hadn't heard the entire prophecy that was made by Professor Trelawney that day. He had only heard that the one born with the power to vanquish him was born to parents who had three times defied him and was born as the seventh month dies. He didn't hear the part that he would mark this particular child as his equal and that one cannot life as the other survives. Harry desperately wished that Trelawney hadn't made that prediction now.
For the past six years, Harry's encountered Lord Voldemort more than he wished. The first time was in his first year when Voldemort wanted the Sorcerer's Stone ((ooc: UK call it the Philosopher's Stone)) where he had made Professor Quirrell (the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher) to take it for him, but Harry had been fortunate enough to stop Quirrell just in time. The second time was with the old Riddle Diary of which Harry learned that Tom Marvolo Riddle was indeed, Voldemort. Here, Voldemort had tried to make a gigantic snake called a Basilisk kill Harry, but for the second (or third?) time, Harry had been lucky. For his third year, Harry hadn't met with Voldemort, but instead a follower, who was one of his father's best friends. He had also met Sirius Black, his father's best friend and Harry's godfather, as well as Remus Lupin another one of James' close friends. Out of all the years Harry's been at, this was his favorite so far. Then during Harry's fourth year, he was pushed into the Triwizard Tournament and was forced to face things that were likely to kill him. Each time, he become lucky but at the third task, Harry had the unfortunate place of witnessing Voldemort's return to his body. It was unpleasant, and Harry had just managed to escape Voldemort's clutches yet again. And during Harry's fifth year, the Ministry of Magic simply refused to believe that the Dark Lord was back and called Harry a liar and cheat. They imported Dolores Umbridge into the school as the position of the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and if Harry had trouble distinguishing which he hated the most, Snape or Umbridge. And finally in Harry's sixth year, he had witnessed Albus Dumbledore's death. His life at Hogwarts was more than worse.
Reverting his attention, he took notice to the Gryffindors who were now sitting themselves at the table. Ron and Hermione hadn't yet entered and Harry wondered if they were held up at the prefect duty meetings. Biting his lip frantically he turned to the nearest Gryffindor, which happened to be Seamus Finnegan, a fellow seventh year along with himself, Ron and Dean Thomas. He shifted his weight to the boy and said, "Rough summer, eh?" he had taken to believe that everyone' summer wasn't as good as it usually is. And since Seamus had once gotten into a fight with Harry because Seamus didn't believe Harry when Harry had said Voldemort was back, things between Harry and Seamus weren't as good. Though now, Seamus had said repeatedly that he was sorry and did believe that Voldemort was back, things were starting to patch up between them. Harry had tried to strike up conversation with the fellow Gryffindor. Anything to keep his mind from drifting to unpleasant topics. Seamus turned to him and nodded, "I guess you can say that." Harry smiled slightly, knowing the understatement tone in Seamus's voice. "Me Mum really considered not letting me go, but me dad had gotten into the fight after that and she finally agreed. It was the first time me mum and dad actually had a row at each other..." Seamus paused for a moment, "It was quite bad." Harry smiled again, laughing slightly though the topic wasn't funny and he had no idea why he was laughing. He nodded at Seamus, showing how he understood him.
