Guild Information and Policies
Guild purpose:
We are a guild of friends, who play EQ to have fun together through grouping, raiding, and questing together. We are not and will never be a truly hard-core raiding guild (with mandatory participation rules, etc) but we will do our share of raids. We are a guild of people who have seen our share of bullshit guild politics, and are committed to avoiding anything of that sort. We are concerned about our reputations and guild name, and will always act honorably to maintain these.

Above all, we are a guild of friends who enjoy doing things together, and we will never sacrifice this for any other reason or goal.

Guild membership:
Anyone of any level or class may apply to the guild, but your chances are better if you get to know someone in the guild first. Any guild member who wishes to sponsor an applicant may propose membership to the guildleader or other designated officer, who will approve or deny. Applicants may be asked to group or raid for a while with the guild, or inducted immediately. When inducted, it is to full membership. There is no trial period. Please see the other post about joining in this forum, if you are interested and do not currently know any guild members.

We will generally not often accept players new to the game, or low level players, or players we have never grouped with or talked with at length. There are exceptions, but you will need to distinguish yourself in some way. (can be as simple as grouping with a few members for an evening, usually)

We anticipate doing high level raiding and grouping fairly often, and we therefore typically look to induct strong, experienced players who know their class and other classes well. However, we are also happy to accept friendly people with good attitudes but not much experience, if they show themselves willing to learn.

We are above all a guild of friends who trust and help each other, and that comes before adding random people just to get more powerful.

We will not put up with loot whores, disruptive or frequently negative attitues, or power hungry manipulative jerks. Excessive whining, especially on public or guild-wide channels, is looked down upon as well. We are a group of friends here to have fun, not to engage in any sort of guild politics. We will not hesitate to remove anyone causing trouble or giving the guild a bad name (if verified), no matter who you are friends with or how many raids you have been on. We have been through this before, and are quite serious about it. Anyone can and may be dismissed from the guild or an officer position at the discretion of the guildleader.

If you on the 'sensitive' side and considering joining, please be aware that things occasionally get 'R-rated' or worse on guild chat. Be prepared for some occasional crude and rude dialogue.

Guild Leadership:
There will be a single guildleader, and his word is absolute on all matters. The guildleader may eventually pick a senior leadership team, who will have yet to be decided powers and responsibilities.

The guildleader may also designate certain others as officers, covering specific duties, such as web presence, guild bank, etc. These officers have power and responsibility only over their specific function(s), and not such things as loot awarding or guild admittance.

Current Officers:

Guild Leader - Reave(Skob)

Senior Officer - None Currently

Raid Coordinator - Gabrian(Stratusflare)
Recruitment - None Currently
Web Presence - None Currently
Guild Bank Administrator - None Currently
Random Officer Stuff - Maradien
Interior Decorator and Treehugger Extraordinaire - Lenuvien

Raids and Raid Loot:

These rules apply to any guild raid. A raid is defined as any organized adventure involving more than one full group of guildmates.

Each raid will have a raid leader. This will either be the person who organizes the raid, or someone that they designate.

The raid leader will form the groups before the raid. This will be done in a way to make the raid most efficient and successful, not to always keep friends grouped (make your own chat channel!). Do NOT go on a raid expecting a whole lot of XP, as you probably will not get it. In fact, you may lose it on tougher raids, as deaths do happen, more for some classes than others. This is a necessary evil if you want to raid, and raiding is the only way to the truly superior equipment drops. Wipeouts and/or long corpse retrieval situations should not be at all common, but are certainly possible, especially on the first time in a dungeon, or the first few tries at an ubermob.

Again, raids are for FUN and for LOOT. They are NOT for xp, and any xp you do get is a bonus. This isn't a concrn so much anymore, with the new /raid functions, but please do keep it in mind.

The raid leader will create a raid, which will have it's own channel. All raid attendees are expected to pay attention to it. No one besides the raid leader and main pull group may speak on this channel, unless authorized or with urgent information. The main guild channel, /say, /gsay, and any other chat channels you feel like making are available for general chat.

The raid leader's word is law. If you don't follow direction, or argue with the leader publically over tactics/grouping/loot-awards/etc, expect a quick translocate out, and eventually to not be welcome on future raids. Constructive suggestions through /tell to the raid leader are certainly OK. In many dungeons, tight discipline is required to pull off successful and fun raids. Expect to be told what to do and when to move, especially when attempting ubermobs. The raid leader will typically have a lot of research and/or experience on the raid zone, and their tactics will always be thought out and carefully constructed.

The raid leader will assign one person from each group to masterloot. The looters will track all loot and give to the raid leader at the end of the raid. The looters will notify the raid on a public channel, and the raid leader through a tell, when any 'special' loot drops. If nodrop loot is found, any senior guild officer along (or raid leader) should be immediately tell-spammed until they are aware of it, at which point it will be awarded (see below).

All nodrop and droppable 'special loot' will be awarded by the senior guild officers along on the raid when they see fit (immediately for nodrop items, and after the raid in most other cases). If no officers are along, the raid leader will award the loot. The officers will award the loot at their discretion, based on the following factors:
- Items will typically be awarded in a way that helps the guild most. Frequent raiders will get strong consideration, as items going to them will most improve the raiding power and guild's power in general, and they will be rewarded for their frequent participation. For example, a heavy tank who is called on to main tank for most raids is often going to get the best heavy armor first. This has the overall effect of allowing the guild to raid bigger and better targets and therefore get more loot overall for everyone, eventually.
- Those who perform frequent 'good deeds' for the guild, or who do a lot of work for the guild, will recieve strong consideration. This can include things like maintaining a web site, spending a lot of time maintaining the guild bank, running across the world frequently to rez people, and so on.
- Raid loot will always go to someone who is on the raid it drops (though someone who has to leave before the raid is over may still be eligible).

Other factors may play into decisions, and decisions will not be up for public debate or any sort of voting. The guild leaders will in all possible cases spread around the loot as much as possible, and will keep records to ensure that those deserving are rewarded with time. We believe you will in time see that the items do end up with who is most deserving.

**When items are awarded to a person, the officers may in some cases make it a condition that an item replaced by the new item be passed on to another guild member. This will not happen often generally, but will be more common with replaced items that were originally obtained with the guild's help.

Any public complaining about awarding decisions will not be tolerated. The officers are commited to both awarding based on what is best overall for the guild, as well as on who is most deserving. If you want more loot, go on more raids. Please do be aware that on most raids, nowhere near enough good stuff drops to get an item to every person. Raiding is the only way to get many of the REALLY good items, and patience is necessary.

Cash loot from raids, including coin drops and common gems, will be distributed by the officers/raid leader directly to clerics, enchanters, and anyone else who may use expensive components throughout the raid. Any leftover cash loot will go to the guild bank, to be used for future components, coffins, or even purchasing equipment/spells to be awarded. Blue Diamonds and similar expensive tradeskill items may be held for guild master tradespersons, for use in making high quality items for guild members.

A loot policy concerning looting rights for non-guild members along on a guild-led raid will be published at a later date.

Raids specifically set up to get a specific item (such as epic quest kills) will be the responsibilty of the person who wants the item to organize. They don't necessarily need to lead the raid themselves. The main target loot will default to them, though all other loot on the raid will follow normal loot rules.

Non-raid loot guidelines:
A regular single group of guild mates are of course free to distribute loot as they wish. In general, a need-before-greed attitude is encouraged. One thing that is suggested is to be sure everyone joining knows going in how the loot is being distributed, so there are no later arguements. This is particularly important when a non-guild member is invited to join the group. Anyone caught quickly selling gear obtained on a need-before-greed basis in a guild group will be removed from the guild.

Spell/loot bank:
A guild bank will be held and maintained by an officer or someone designated by the guildleader. A post on the guild message boards will always list the current available items. This post will contain more detailed info, but basically, any guild member may request to have any item in the bank for use on a main character only. The bank maintainer may grant or deny this request based on current need. Guild members are encouraged to donate to this bank as they get spells and equipment they don't need.
