Greetings from Ohio

Greetings,
I imagine my story is similiar to most of you here, but in a nutshell here's mine; I was raised since I was able to walk in a Protestant church and went faithfully every Sunday until I was about 18 years old. I "discovered" Wicca when I was in the Army in about 1980. I actually signed up and completed the Wiccan correspondence course the Frosts offered back then (I don't know if they still do or if their still around). I studied about every book I could get my hands on concerning Wicca by Raymond Buckland, Gardener and others. I also studied, for a time, Crowley. I was probably one of the first to have 'WICCA' stamped on their Dog Tags as my preferred religion.

Anyway, I was a practicing Wiccan until about 1992 when I stopped. It wasn't an abrupt halt or anything like that, my interest just sort of ebbed and I cast no more circles.

I married a Christian woman in 1994 (my second marriage) and started attending a church with her. I firmly believe in the Holy Trinity and I believe firmly in the love and compassion of Jesus Christ, but there were times at night when I would be staring up at the Full Moon and remember the times when I could be one with that power. A few weeks ago my daughter announced that she is expecting her first child and I was overwhelmed with joy. Later that same night I went out and saw in the sky the crescent of a brand new waxing moon. I was filled so much with the knowledge of what that means, a sign of rebirth and regeneration. I've been trying for a few weeks now to try and figure out how I can be both a Wiccan and a Christian. Today I found this website and want to thank you all of you for starting this.

I'll be walking this path with the rest of you.

Hello and Merry Meet,

I'm in Ohio too. Its nice to see that there are a few of those of like mind in the area! I understand about the feeling of connectedness and power in nature. And right now I am just in the begining stages of learning about Witchcraft and Wicca, gathering every web address I can find and every book that I can afford. Welcome and Bright Blessings.

Re: Greetings from Ohio
And another...
I am also from Ohio. Columbus to be exact. Merry Meet!

This is my first posting on this board. It's taken me a long time to embrace who I am due to fundamental Christianity's damaging, abusive stances regarding gays, multi-faithed congregants, and other religions in general.

I can now say I am a Gay Christian Wiccan...phew, that sure feels good! I am blessed to attend a denomination that embraces and affirms ALL people, including the GLBT community as well as those who are "multi-faithed" like myself. Blessed also am I to have found this board and to have found Rev. Nancy's incredible book Christian Wicca.

In my reading recently, I've discovered more and more Wiccans who are either multi-faithed themselves or are accepting of those who are.

As well as Rev. Nancy, try reading "Embracing Jesus and the Goddess" by Carl McColman (another wonderful author who is a practicing Christo-Pagan), A.J. Drew (I thoroughly enjoy his books, both gay-affirming and multi-faith affirming...an open-minded Wiccan? Imagine that! In one of his books he actually refers to Jesus as "one of the greatest witches who ever lived"...LOVE THAT!). Christopher Penczak mentions Christian Wicca in his books as a legitimate tradition (and also happens to be gay...yay!), Laurie Cabot draws parallels between Christianity and Wicca in "Power of the Witch", I also love the works of the Farrars...in "A Witches' Bible" they have an entire chapter dedicated to Christianity and Wicca called "Many Mansions"...and in their "Witches' God" they list Christ as one of many Gods to choose from to work with...LOVE THAT!

This is so amazing to find this board here...but would also love to have an "in the flesh" support/discussion group here in Columbus. Does anyone know of one? I can't seem to find one on the Meetup site.

Bye for now,
Blessed Be,
Chris

I'm 19 and from the Akron/Kent/Ravenna area. I got to KSU. Does anyone know of any groups around these areas? I'm new to all of this and I'm still discerning my path.

Thanks and Blessed be
