Prologue

Sometime in the spring.

“There’s the birthday girl!”Sonny exclaimed happily as Johnny walked in carrying a little girl on his hip. The men in the room turned their attention to the door. Francis set down the balloons to help his friend.
“I’ll take that for you.”Francis said grabbing the large bag from his arm,”Hey princess.”He greeted gently touching her nose. She gave him a big smile. Sonny anxiously stood by his friend and Johnny smiled.
“You want to hold her?”
“Absolutely.”He eagerly took her into his arms, holding her up from a distance,”How’s my little angel?”He grinned showing off his dimples. Her blonde curls bounced as he twirled her into a circle.
“Stop hogging her all to yourself.”Max’s words echoed from the other end of the room. Sonny looked down at the little girl.
“Do you want to go see Uncle Max, Lily?”His was response was given with a smile,”Okay, here we go.”Sonny handed her off to his friend. Smiling, he headed to the kitchen. Johnny took a look at his little sister before following him.
“Hey Sonny, I want to thank you...this looks great..”Sonny smiled waving his hand.
“No need to thank me...my god-daughter deserves the best.”He said patting the man on the back.

Max and Francis were bent down close to the ground. Lily’s tiny arms were held up, gently grasping Max’s. She struggled to find a balance on her feet. Smiling when she found it, she looked up at them. The other men in the room were finishing with the decorations and placing the gifts. Some took the opportunity to watch her in the middle of the room. Carefully, she placed one foot forward and waited to regain her balance. She repeated the process until she was walking with the aid of Max standing above her. That’s the scene Jason walked in on. Her eyes caught him immediately and she matched his smile. Taking the cue, Max steered her to him. She stopped suddenly, looking up at her little hands hidden from her uncle’s larger ones. She tugged to set them free.
“I think she wants to walk on her own.”Francis said in amusement. Finding her own balance, her brown eyes found Jason again. Her wobbly steps became more stable and quicker as she came towards him. Setting his gift down, he bent down. She reached out and he picked her up. She laughed out loud. Johnny and Sonny stood off to the side.
“Uh oh, she’s mobile.”Sonny teased before looking around the room,”Where’s Bre..?”
“Right here!”She exclaimed sneaking up behind Jason,”hello baby girl.”She cooed and kissed her cheek,”I needed the extra rolls of film,”She said directing her attention back to Sonny. The discussions taking place in the room were lost on Jason. He was too busy playing with the little girl in his arms.
“Jase...”Sonny called motioning him forward.
“Yea. Come on beautiful.”He said kissing her forehead. Johnny picked up the elegantly wrapped gift behind him.
“You know, you didn’t have to get her anything.”Jason turned around, Lily still in his arms.
“She’s my god-daughter...she deserves the best.”His gaze fell back on the girl in the pink dress sitting on his hip,”isn’t that right Lily Morgan O’Brien?”Her little pink mouth turned up in a smile and her eyes gazed up at him in wonder.

Chapter 1

Sometime in the spring of 2003.

Jason let himself in to the Corinthos Penthouse. Sonny was sitting, reading over a few files in his living room. He looked over his shoulder.
“Anything?”Jason shook his head in response and Sonny sighed,”Someone is robbing and trashing different apartments in my building...”He stood up,”It’s unacceptable. What...what if they come up here? Michael...Carly...my family...”Jason took a few steps forward.
“We’re not going to let that happen.”Taking strength from his friend’s words, the mobster nodded.
“Put more men on security...I want this taken care of.”Giving another nod, Jason left the penthouse. Closing the door behind him, Johnny looked at the man. Heaving a big sigh, he pinched the bridge of his nose before Jason looked at his friend.
“He wants to step it up. Keep your eyes open.”Exchanging nods, Jason left Johnny to maintain his post.

She sat back in her seat. Excited. Nervous. Happy. The last word made her smile. It had been a long time, she was overdue. It would have been years, nearly three. Shaking her head, she sighed. Not one visit, not one call, not even a letter...hell she would have settled for an email. Running a hand through her blonde highlights, she closed her eyes. They would be landing soon. Home. A home she hadn’t really known. Livingston, the all girl boarding school she recently graduated from, the only home she’d really ever known these past four years. Her eyes misted. Graduation. Her head tilted towards the window. The clouds broke below and she could see it. Port Charles.
“Ready or not...here I come.”She whispered.

The brunette came running from the kitchen. Irritated, she flung the door open. The guard on the other side took a step back. They were all still getting used to having her back.
“Excuse me, Mrs. Morgan...is he here?”The woman backed from the door. She waved her free hand at him.
“Don’t call me that.”She shivered in disgust,”He’s upstairs.”Without missing a beat, the guard was off. Taking the stairs two at a time, he nearly crashed into his friend in the hallway.
“What the...Max?”Jason asked taken aback.
“We got activity.”Instantly, he followed his friend down the stairs.
“Where?”They stopped at the desk. Jason pulling a gun from a drawer, checking and loading it.
“Fourth floor. Jase...”Max said catching his friend’s undivided attention,”it’s O’Brien’s place.”
Turning his head, the two shared a look. Max gave him a small nod and they were off.

Setting her suit case down, she took a look around. There were some different pieces of furniture, but nothing overdone. And, she smiled, at least it all still matched. She didn’t bother to turn on the lights. The moonlight illuminated the room and she basked in its glow. Taking a few steps to the window, she stopped suddenly. Something wasn’t right. Without moving her feet, her body turned to the door. The hallway. Someone was there. Looking down at the crack below the door, the light from the corridor shone brightly through...then there was a shadow, another shadow. Click. Click. Her heart started beating quicker. She searched the room frantically. Four floors up. And not a damn exit. Unless she felt like plummeting to her death, her gaze fell back on the door. Terror swept through her. She couldn’t help, but chide herself. This was why she had been away.
Then everything happened so quickly. The hallway went dark. Her pulse quickened. She watched in horror as the door nob began to turn. Her heart lurched. She was going to die. Unable to move, barely able to breathe, she stared at the door. In one swift motion it opened, banging against the wall. Charging into the room were men. How many she didn’t know, she couldn’t count. The only thing she saw were the guns. They were glistening in the light...and all pointed at her. She felt two small breezes on either side of her face and the sound of breaking glass behind her. It felt too surreal. Looking down at her body, she felt and saw small red dots floating across her body. Bringing her head up, her eyes met those of the intruders. They were cold, barren, void of any and all motion. They too shone brightly thanks to the moon. Her breathing hitched into gasp like breaths. A whole other terror drowned her from within. She knew them. Tilting her head, to get a better look, her face fell into the moonlight’s path. Amongst the intruders, a pair of eyes softened.
“Lily?”The man’s voice was barely above a whisper, but in the dead quiet room...it echoed. It was true...her worst fear was true. Unable to do anything, but move her eyes, they darted around the room, from man to man. They studied her, carefully, methodically and slowly, one by one they softened.
It didn’t change the terror wrenching through her body. The men had slowly parted, forming around her. The guns weren’t pointed at her anymore, nor were the cold stares, but that’s all she could see. Her feet finally came to life, she backed from them, turning in circles, slowly...
“Lily...we,”Regret seared in the man’s voice. Her breathing continued to falter and her eyes glanced to the door. Weaving herself through the men, she caught glimpses of them. Unshed tears began to cloud her vision joining her already shaking body.
The men watched in horror, what they had done. She was petrified and broken. They could barely move as they watched her slip into the hall. It took seconds before they heard the echo of her sprinting away. Their heads hung low. The room was deathly silent again. One of the men finally raised his head.
“Someone has to go after her. It’s late...”Barely able to swallow the lump in his throat, Sonny Corinthos wanted to wring his own neck. He cast a look at the other men in the room. Francis, Max, Johnny, Jason, Marco...he couldn’t continue to look around. There were so many of them. He rubbed a hand over his face, giving way to a remorseful sigh. His gaze met with solemn faces. The minutes clicked by without a sound...
“I didn’t recognize her.”Catching the other’s eyes, Johnny could feel his own watering,”My own sister...”He couldn’t even finish, he fought back the tears. He could still remember it...promising their mother, on her death bed...that he would protect the newborn...his sister...and they’d almost killed her. His feelings were matched by nearly every other man in the room. The deafening silence fell to the sound of phone ringing.
“Yeah?”Sonny answered as the rest of the men shoved their phones back into their jackets,”What...”He sighed,”how the hell could you have lost her?”His remorse funneled into fury,”She’s a seventeen year old girl...don’t tell me you lost sight of her...you search the whole god damn night...I want her back unscathed otherwise, you’ll pay.”Slamming the phone shut, he cursed aloud.
“Where did they last see her?”Max’s voice was hoarse.
“On the docks.”Taking a look around the room, Johnny sighed.
“I’m going to look for her.”Sonny looked at his guard.
“Me too.”His gaze moved from Johnny to Max.
“I’m not leaving her out there.”Sonny’s gaze left Francis to Jason. Sharing a look that spoke volumes, Jason was the first to leave the room. The rest of the men were on his heels.

The next morning. Corinthos Penthouse.

Stepping off the elevator, a very pissed off brunette stalked towards the right. Actually, pissed off wouldn’t describe it....hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn. Not even noticing the lack of a guard outside the Corinthos door, she plunged in. The door slamming against the wall caught the men’s attention and she scanned the room for whom her fury was meant for. Finding them, the daggers in her eyes ripped through their being.
“What the hell did you do to her?!!!!”

Chapter 2

“Elizabeth?”Johnny’s eyes were trained on the woman. The call of her name had no effect on her. The knife like glare unwavering, Jason couldn’t help but think she had the stance of a lioness protecting her young. Sonny rubbed the back of his neck before gaining the strength to look her in the eye.
“Do you know where she is? Is she alright?”This time, Johnny’s words worked. Sighing, she pulled the purse higher on her shoulder.
“Yes, I know where she is. And I suppose she’s okay...if you call...”Sonny and Jason breathed a sigh of relief. She took notice of their manner, of all the men’s. Miserable and seething with remorse. Like them, she hadn’t gotten a nights sleep either. It didn’t change her feelings though, she was still furious as hell...
“Where is she?”Sonny finally found his voice.
“She doesn’t want you to know.”
“But I...I need to know.”His frustration snapped. Jason’s eyes flickered between Sonny and Elizabeth. He was ready to intervene if Sonny had frightened her, but she didn’t look touched at all.
“Why Sonny? So you can scare the hell out of her again? All of you?”They all looked away from her. Before she could rip into them anymore, the door opened behind her. Turning around, out of habit, Elizabeth came face to face with her arch rival...Carly Corinthos.
“What the hell are you doing here?”Her voice was lethal and the blonde took the time to look at the other occupants in the room,”Get out.”She threatened brushing past the brunette. She stood between Sonny and Jason, concern etched on her face at their conditions. When she noticed Elizabeth hadn’t moved, her eyes narrowed again.
“Does she know?”Carly frowned at Elizabeth’s words. No one noticed the other brunette who had entered the room.
“Know about what?”Brenda asked gaining attention. The women’s eyes moved to Sonny and Jason for answers. The two men shared a questioning look. Sonny finally nodded to Jason. He couldn’t speak himself, he was afraid of yelling again. Jason took a deep breath, looking at the three very dangerous women in front of him. He steeled himself.
“It’s about Lily...”Worry immediately etched itself on the newest occupants of the room.
“Lily? What is she okay?”Brenda beat the other to the punch line. Hesitating, Jason took another look at Sonny for permission to continue.
“We thought it was one of the people responsible for the break ins...”Carly gasped and he stopped.
“Oh my god!”Her hands covered her face,”You shot at her?”The men’s faces gave her all the answers she needed.
“Is she okay, I mean is she bleeding?”Brenda stopped when Elizabeth took a step forward.
“No, but she couldn’t stop shaking.”
“What do you have to do with this?”Carly spat.
“She came running to me.”Elizabeth replied choosing her words carefully. Johnny took a few steps towards the group.
“Which is why you need to tell us where she is.”He stated and they all turned to look at him.
“I already told you, she doesn’t want you to know.”Carly’s mind began to turn.
“I don’t blame her.”The blonde said as she watched Elizabeth leave,”I’ll walk you to the elevator.”Brenda stole a look a the men.
“I think I’ll join you.”She said and then closed the door behind her to the hall. She met them at the elevator.
“What are you doing?”Elizabeth looked between the two women.
“Going with you.”Brenda stated simply as the elevator doors opened. Elizabeth began to shake her head and say something. But Carly cut her off.
“Look. It’s no secret, I don’t like you. Or you. But that girl is important to this family...”
“And,”Brenda cut in as they ushered the youngest woman into the elevator,”we need to fix what those geniuses started.”

Chapter 3

Elizabeth led them down the bare corridor. Pausing by the steel door, she looked at the women behind her.
“Come on..”Carly growled. Against her better judgement, Elizabeth opened the door to her studio. She scanned the room and saw her sitting by the window. She didn’t turn around.
“Lily?”Brenda called. Drifting out of her trance, the girl turned. Her eyes were tired, her face still pale and stained from past tears. She moved from her spot, slowly. They met her by the couch.
“Brenda, Carly, it’s...it’s been a while.”She greeted forcing a small smile.
“Honey, we know...and we think their idiots for scaring you half to death.”Carly studied her, trying to see if the words held any comfort. Shaking her head, Lily sat on the couch, wrapping her arms around herself tighter. Shooting a look at Carly, Elizabeth sat down next to the girl.
“I just came back from seeing them...”Her eyes shot up, panic filling them.
“You didn’t tell them where I was right?”
“No, I didn’t. But...”She glanced up at the two women,”they’re very worried about you...”Shaking her head, Lily felt the tears coming back.
“They don’t care about me...”She whispered. Softening, Carly reached out to her.
“That’s not true. They love you...”Laughing sarcastically, Lily jerked away from the touch. She stood up and moved to the door.
“I should go...Thank you, Elizabeth...for letting me stay here.”Her voice caught as she fought back tears.
“Lily it was an accident.”Carly and Elizabeth stood at Brenda’s words. Her hand on the door, Lily sighed.
“It was nice...to see you again. All of you, I wish it...was under better circumstances.”She was ready to turn the nob.
“Look we’ve all been shot at before, and I know it’s hard...”Brenda tried again, but Lily sadly shook her head.
“Not by them.”She whispered, her voice wavering. She opened the door to make a brisk exit. Quickly halting her steps, she froze in fear at the sight of Jason. She bit back the tears and maneuvered around him as he tried to touch her. He sighed and opened his mouth to say something.
“Don’t...”She quivered backing away from him. He watched her disappear into the stairwell. Swatting his arm, Brenda caught his attention.
“You idiot!”She exclaimed,”Why did you follow us?!”
“I didn’t.”He said defensively,”I came here to talk to Elizabeth.”Jerking her head up, the said woman caught his eyes. Letting out a frustrated growl, Carly stalked passed him. Brenda followed, but only after giving a sympathetic glance to Elizabeth. At least they had tried. Watching them leave, Jason closed the door.
“What did you want to talk to me about?”
“I wanted to know where she was.”Rolling her eyes, Elizabeth turned away.
“Well, she was here, but I doubt she’ll be coming back.”
“Do you know where she would go?”He asked,”Is there anyone else she knows in Port Charles?”
“No. When she came here, she said she didn’t have anywhere else to go.”A silence filled the room and she studied him. To her surprise he was still standing there.
“Did she tell you anything else?”
“Like what?”
“Did she confide in you?”Elizabeth’s eyes grew dark.
“She didn’t say much of anything. I tried to comfort her, but she ended up crying herself to sleep.”He sighed, raking a hand through his hair. He closed his eyes debating his next words.
“I need your help.”

Chapter 4

Pulling her knees closer to her body, she felt the tears falling down her face. Staring at the pathway of the park, she felt empty. She didn’t want to feel sorry for herself. That wasn’t the type of girl she was. But it was hard to ignore the pain ripping away at her heart. Wiping her face, she sighed. There was no where to go. The people she had relied on all her life were no more. Couldn’t go to Sonny’s, or Jason’s, or Francis’ or Max’s and sure as hell couldn’t go back home to her brother. No money, she left everything there in that room. So staying somewhere that required money was out of the running. The bank, her account. She shook her head. They probably froze all her assets already. Wrapping her arms around her body, she wanted to scream. She had no options, no choices, she was screwed.
“Hey, are you alright?”She hadn’t heard anyone approach her. Looking up, she met the gaze of a guy about her age, or so she estimated. Regaining her composure, she tried to get a look at him. He didn’t look dangerous and he certainly wasn’t packing.
“Look, I’m sorry, I didn’t want to startle you or anything...I just noticed that...”She forced a smile.
“That’s okay. I’m fine though, thanks.”He stood back, with an amused smile.
“Well uh...don’t take this the wrong way, but...you suck at lying.”She whirled around.
“I don’t lie.”She stated in a matter of fact manner. He took a sideways look at her.
“That I believe. Maybe you’re just trying to mask your feelings.”She frowned.
“I don’t believe we’ve met.”
“Probably not considering I was dropped off here a few weeks ago.”
“Dropped off?”
“Yea...long story.”She continued to study him.
“Do you have a name?”
“Dillon...Quartermaine.”A small stab of pain hit her heart.
“As in related to Jason Morgan?”He hesitated.
“I guess, I mean he’s my cousin, but I’ve never met him.”It was his turn to study her,”you got a name?”She debated her answer. Insecurities on who she could trust circled around her mind...
“Lily.”Dillon watched her freeze, then slowly turn around,”let’s go.”She took a step back from Sonny. Her eyes darting to Francis and Max behind him.
“No.”Her voice came out stronger than she felt. Sonny sighed.
“Lily, it was an accident...”She shook her head taking another step back.
“Why don’t you leave her alone?”Dillon caught Sonny’s eye,”She obviously doesn’t want to be around you.”He bent his head towards her,”Do you know who he is?”She didn’t move her eyes from the men in front of her.
“Yes.”She took a deep breath gathering her strength,”Sonny, is my godfather. And Francis, Max...my uncles, my big brothers, my friends.”She felt her fear turning into anger,”or at least they were.”She turned then and began to walk away.
“Lily!”Sonny shouted making her stop,”You can’t ignore your family.”She didn’t know if it was the years worth of neglect and anger, or the frustration of the situation at hand that made her snap. But she did. Her brown eyes grew dark, almost black. Her walk was determined, lethal. Her heart broken and drowning, but guarded with ice stone walls.
“I am walking away.”She met Sonny’s gaze, standing close enough for either of them to grab the other’s neck,”Do not come after me. If I so much as hear a board creek, a twig snap...I will disappear. And I’ve grown up around all of you long enough to know how to do it. So leave me the hell alone.”Seeing her words had an effect, she turned on her heel and true to her word, she left. Dillon had watched the entire display and decided it was better to follow the pissed off girl than stick around with the angry mob boss.
Turning around, Sonny waited for either man to say something. Her outburst had left them as dumbstruck as their friend. Lily was the quiet one. The polite girl who never lied. It was Michael, her equal only in age, that was the one worry about. He was the one that talked out of line. The teenager who lied like it was as involuntary as breathing.
“That went well.”Francis’ snide remark earned him the glare of his friends,”What? You going to tell me that the plan worked?”
“No. I’m going to tell you to shut the hell up.”Max replied punching the other’s shoulder.
“Like I said earlier, this was a stupid idea...and her reaction proved it.”Sonny folded his arms across his chest.
“Alright Francis, since you seem to know everything, what should we do next?”Staring at him with an agape mouth, the man’s mind reeled.
“Uh..take her to..dinner.”The statement sounded more like a question.
“Dinner?”Sonny repeated taking his ringing cell phone out of his jacket,”What?”He asked annoyed, his dark eyes fell back to Francis,”huh, well today seems to be a day full of plans, please tell me yours isn’t dinner.”Max punched his friend in the arm again and Sonny watched them shaking his head in a threatening -no-,”we’re on our way.”Placing the phone back into his pocket with ease, he nodded to his left,”Let’s go. Jason says he has something that will work.”

Chapter 5

Vista Point later that night.

Elizabeth wondered how she had gotten herself in this mess. She sighed. Of course she knew, all she needed to do was look at the man standing a few feet from her. She may be furious with him, her heart may still be aching for him and her head may be pounding like hell. But it wasn’t everyday he came to her door with pleading eyes and asked for her help to make her friend, his god-daughter, forgive him. Her eyes continued to watch the waves rise and fall. Although, if she wanted to, she could say it all started when she opened her door earlier. She sighed again. That wasn’t the answer. Her heart broke for the terrified girl. Yes, Elizabeth had been shot and shot at, but never had it been from people who loved her like family. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Truthfully, maybe it all started a few years ago when she faked her death and vacationed on Sonny’s island. After all, that was when she had met Lily. It had been a bonding experience. A month alone on the island would have been lonely and hard for either of them. But they made the most of it, confiding to each other secrets and memories they wished would go away. It were these things, those late night girl talks that had her standing here waiting. It was Lily’s confession that her favorite spot to think in Port Charles was Vista Point...and if Elizabeth’s heart wanted to be honest...it was her own feelings for Jason.
He stood there, hands in his pockets, trying like hell to forget the woman standing a few feet from him. Jason struggled to wrap his mind around the issue. The one of her agreeing to help him, or maybe it was the one of him asking her in the first place. He shook his head. It didn’t matter. Or did it? Out of the corner of his eye he caught her figure. She was staring out at the water. He returned his eyes to the same. So he had asked her...he wanted to fix things with Lily. He nodded. That was it, he had screwed up so very bad with her. They all had. Even after they’d all tried to apologize, she turned away. He bit back a smile. Sonny had said she even threatened him. He immediately frowned. That wasn’t like her. He sighed. They really messed things up. So he was desperate, that was his reason for acting weak, for asking for Elizabeth’s help. That’s why they were standing here...where they’d talked, where he kissed her...their last kiss. He sighed again fighting the urge to look at her again. If it didn’t matter, why was her presence soothing to his heart? He closed his eyes. He was moving on, this was just his desperation acting out in a moment of weakness. He relented and looked over at her again. What a pathetic excuse.
“Maybe this isn’t a good idea.”Her voice echoed both their fears,”I mean, she could have come and gone already.”She didn’t understand why she just gave him an explanation. The only doubts were supposed to be of Lily’s arrival, not of her own confused heart and ability to stand near him.
“She’ll come.”In a moment of weakness she looked at him. He sounded the way he appeared. Calm, cool, confident.
“How are you so sure?”In spite of himself, he gave way to small chuckle, and found himself locking eyes with her.
“Because she’s been too busy telling people to leave her alone all day.”Reveling in the moment, the easiness of it all, Elizabeth allowed herself to smile.
“Well let’s just hope she’s tired of doing that and willing to listen.”Returning her eyes to the water, Elizabeth found herself analyzing her own words. Willing to listen? Her head and her heart began arguing their endless tirades with one another.
Jason had watched her. She had smiled, genuinely. He wondered how long it had been since he’d since that. Too long. His eyes were back on the water.
A board creaked behind him. Full of hope, he whirled around and sighed in frustration. A cat. Raking a hand through his hair he cursed under his breath. Without knowing it, Elizabeth had watched his reaction and despite her quarreling self, she felt his pain.

Chapter 6

Quartermaine Mansion that same night.

She didn’t know why she had followed him here. Surveying the room, Lily sighed. Of course she did. She may not know the Quartermaines, but the surroundings were something she was familiar to. Luxury. Her hand slid across the marble counter. They wouldn’t expect her to come here. She was safe. Sighing, she made her way to the bed and didn’t hesitate to fall, back first on the blankets. She stared up at the ceiling of the guest room. Lily remembered the reaction of the elder Mrs. Quartermaine, Jason’s grandmother. The thought reminded her of the dilemma. She loved them all. That hadn’t changed. She knew they were sorry. How many times today she had been cornered, the explanations, the apologies, she didn’t bother to count. She shuddered. Every time her eyes looked at one of them, all she saw were reminders of that night. Those eyes were not full of pride, or love anymore. They looked at her in a way that made her feel insignificant, like she didn’t matter. In truth, that was what she had been feeling these past years. Neglected. If it hadn’t been for Michael, she wouldn’t even know if anyone was still alive. She grimaced at the thought of the other teenager. He was nothing, but a menace. The night he had humiliated the hell out of her, in front of the entire school, at the most important night of the year...it was all still fresh in her mind. She sighed, kicking her shoes off. Crawling under the covers still full dressed, she relished the feeling as her head hit the pillow. As she drifted to sleep, one thought echoed through her mind....She should have never come back.

The Corinthos Penthouse a few hours later.

Sonny couldn’t sleep. He held the glass of Bourbon in his hand watching the liquid move back and forth. The couch offered as much comfort as his bed...none. He took a deep breath, rubbing his eyes. He wouldn’t sleep. The whole situation reminded him of his mother and Deke. How many times had he sworn he would never inflict a pain like that? None of them had hit her, but that didn’t make it any better. They’d never thought she’d be there. He gave way to a sarcastic chuckle. Of course they wouldn’t...it was only her home. But none of them had thought of that, of her. He frowned. When had that happened? When had they stopped caring? He turned when the door opened. Dressed in khaki pants and a polo shirt was his son.
“You’re late.”Michael shrugged walking towards his father.
“I was held up.”His eyes floated to the stairs,”I’m going to bed.”
“Michael.”The teenager had only made it a step before turning around,”When was the last time you saw Lily?”Frowning, the young man studied his father carefully.
“About three weeks ago, when I left England, left school.”He watched Sonny set the glass down on a table,”Why?”
“She’s back.”Michael let out an annoyed sigh.
“What did she do?”Sonny ignored the tone.
“She ran away....After we held her at gun point, letting a few bullets fly by her....Maybe you should go to bed.”Nodding to his father, Michael took the stairs two at a time. He stopped half way down the corridor to his room. Recollecting everything his father had just said, the concern marked his face and wouldn’t go away no matter how hard he fought it.

Chapter 7

“Thanks for coming with me.”Elizabeth turned at his admission. He was driving the suv and from her place in the driver’s seat, he handled it as well as his bike. Her mind fumbled to think of something to say. Somehow -no problem- didn’t seem right.
“She means a lot to you.”Now where had that come from? Taking the opportunity at the red light, Jason took in her profile. She looked just as tired as him, maybe more. The light turned green and he returned his attention to the road. The tension was mounting in the small quarters...
“I don’t know how to make her see it was an accident.”He took a deep breath,”That I...we would never...”He couldn’t finish. His nights were haunted by the look in her eyes. The same look Elizabeth had the night she walked out. He stole a quick glance at her. How many months had it been since they had talked like this? Not yelling, but being at least civil. He grimaced. Not since the night she walked out because you lied, his mind shouted...
“When we were on the island...”Elizabeth prompted,”She told me how much she loved you guys...I remember seeing the way her eyes would light up, so full of love and admiration...She’ll forgive you. Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow, but she will.”She silently berated herself for the double meaning of the last line. Looking at his profile, she was surprised to find him looking back at her. The vehicle had stopped. He couldn’t move from her eyes. Last night, they had parted on amicable terms. And now this morning, after a tip from his grandmother on Lily’s location, he had approached her again. And to his surprise, she agreed. He kept telling himself he needed her here to help him with Lily. But as he found himself drowning in her, he knew it was him that needed her. And that scared the hell out of him...
“There’s Reginald.”She had to break the mood. She frowned. Maybe she had just imagined the mood. She silently nodded. That was it, just wishful thinking. They were here to talk to Lily.
Elizabeth followed Reginald into the mansion, Jason close enough to make her head spin. Taking a deep breath, she was thankful for the large entry. Bringing herself out of her own thoughts, she turned to listen to the conversation at hand...
“Your grandmother said she’d be waiting for you in her parlor. Less chance for an exit.”He joked, but Jason barely managed a smile. Placing his hand on Elizabeth back, he ushered her up to the mentioned room.
The scene before the two was calm and peaceful...contrary to their personal feelings. Lily instinctively tensed when she saw Jason. Her gaze wavered between him and Elizabeth. She watched them say their hellos to Mrs. Quartermaine before turning their attention back to her. Taking a deep breath, she tried to compose herself. After all, as Lila had just told her, she was a lady.
“Lily.”Jason took a deep breath. He watched as her eyes locked with the door behind him. Holding his breath, he waited for her to bolt.

Chapter 8

“Jason.”He sighed, progress,”Hi, Elizabeth.”Bending down, the brunette hugged the girl before taking a seat next to her. Taking her cue from the situation, Lila ask Reginald to bring her to see the cook. Raking a hand through his hair, Jason let out the breath he had been holding.
“Are you just going to stand there or are you going to sit down?”So much for manners, Lily sighed. Tipping his head, he did as ordered.
“How did you find yourself here?”Elizabeth started trying to get things going. She needed to focus on something other than man sitting inches from her.
“Dillon, Quartermaine. He offered and I remember you talking about the family...I knew you wouldn’t think of me coming here.”Her response was directed to him and he fought back a smile. Despite the distance they’d tried to keep the business from her, she seemed to have retained a lot.
“How did you meet him? Dillon?”
“In the park. He saw me, even followed me after I yelled at Sonny...”She let out a small chuckle,”Not a bright move on his part.”Jason’s eyes narrowed. He didn’t remember her talking like this...
“That’s very nice of Mrs. Quartermaine to let to stay the night...and of Dillon to invite you.”Lily absently nodded. Taking a deep breath, the girl focused her eyes on Jason.
“I understand you will follow me, all of you...wherever I go, so...I’m setting some rules.”He listened intently, waiting for her next words,”I want access to my bank account, I will be staying at Kelly’s Diner...”
“That’s not secure enough.”He cut her off and Elizabeth’s eyes widened.
“I used to live there.”He closed his eyes trying to figure a way out of this one.
“Yes, but you also weren’t seventeen.”She shot him a look, but let it go,”Johnny would like...”
“I’m not going back to Harborview Towers, at least not now. I want, I need to be on my own, to figure things out.”She saw he was still concerned.
“Johnny has sole custody of you, by law he..”She stood up.
“Yes and I can tell them why it is I left.”He flinched at her counter,”And I’m not trying to hide anything, I’m telling you everything...”He matched her stance.
“Okay...”He said holding his hands up in mock surrender,”let us pick the apartment...not at Harborview, I get that...but we’ll pay for it...”She shook her head.
“I don’t want your money...”
“Lily.”She stopped and looked at him.
“Fine, but I’m not moving in without approving it.”He backed away nodding,”Now back to my rules...I don’t want anyone dropping by out of the blue trying to explain or apologize or even drag me out and that includes no guards...”He started shaking his head.
“I’m assigning a guard to you...”
“No...”Elizabeth stood up having watched the interaction long enough.
“Is it really necessary?”She asked Jason and for a brief second, she could see the fear he had for the girl.
“Yes, it is.”Somehow the words were calm, but his heart was pounding inside. Elizabeth turned her attention to Lily.
“If Jason says you need one, trust him.”At that moment Jason wanted to ask if Elizabeth herself did. But he held back. He needed to fight one battle at a time. They watched Lily contemplate her answer. Finally, she gave a small nod. Placing his hands on his hips, he sighed.
“Anything else?”
“One more. I want my things back...the suit case and my purse that I left back at Johnny’s.”
“Do you want to get it or...?”
“I’ll go, but I don’t want anyone around when I do.”He nodded. He didn’t like the idea, but he was getting somewhere with her. Maybe Elizabeth was right. She would forgive them.
“Okay, I’ll call when everything is set. Where will you be?”
“She’ll be with me...if that’s okay with you?”Elizabeth turned to Lily who nodded automatically.
“I’ll go get the...”Elizabeth cleared her throat.
“Actually, I think a nice walk would be good...”She said looking at the girl,”So you don’t need to wait.”He looked between them.
“Okay. I’ll see you later.”He said to Elizabeth and then looked to his god-daughter. No words were necessary. She knew that he was sorry. He knew she was angry, hurt and needed time to deal with it. Once he left the room, Elizabeth felt the room becoming empty. She sighed. How was she ever going to stop the feud of emotions raging inside her body?

Chapter 9

Everything had gone exactly as Jason and Lily had negotiated. Nestled between Harborview Towers and Elizabeth’s studio, he had found an apartment for her. She had retrieved her things without trouble and didn’t say a thing when she found the guard stationed by her door. In fact, it had been nearly three weeks since their conversation at the Quartermaines. Jason sighed leaning back on the couch in his penthouse. He’d been watching her, of course, from the sidelines. She had settled into a routine. Every morning, she’d join Elizabeth for a jog through town. He would see them either in the park or on the docks from his place in the shadows. They’d both go their separate ways to work and meet up later in the day, usually at Kelly’s. He’d seen Johnny watching her every moment as well when he wasn’t guarding Michael. Max and Francis tried to occupy their free time by stopping into Kelly’s in hopes of seeing for themselves that she was okay. Sonny was no better, he’d made it a point every morning to get an update and usually pass her on the docks on his way to the warehouse. From the guard stationed at her door, he knew Carly and Brenda made their own visits to Lily, usually every other day or so. He sighed. That’s where his “wife” was this moment, allowing him to enjoy the quiet of his own home. Glancing at his desk, he could see the light blinking from his answering machine. He didn’t need to bother pressing the button, he knew who called. He shook his head. It was supposed to go away, he wasn’t supposed to still feel for her. She had walked away, he reminded himself. Yes, because you were an idiot, the other part of him answered. He rubbed his hands over his face and glanced at the clock. 7:02 p.m. Impulses were a dangerous thing....he told himself as he walked to his closet. They make you do things you usually wouldn’t....he opened the door, pulling the jacket on. Made you do crazy things...he didn’t bother taking the elevator, but jogged down the stairs instead. He didn’t do irrational things...his walk to his bike was determined. His line of work didn’t make room for vicarious acts...he swung his leg over the bike. And he was good at what he did...the bike roared to life. And he also knew how to get what he wanted...he sped out of the garage and onto the road, maneuvering through the cars like cones. And he knew what he wanted...the bike pulled up in the alley, stopped and he didn’t hesitate to get off. He wanted what he had let go...he made his way to the building in front of him. What he should have never let walk away...he opened the door to the stairwell, taking the stairs two at a time. What he was going to fight like hell to get back...he strode down the corridor. Damn impulses...he stopped at the door and knocked.

Godfathers
You can't just leave it there. So what is she going to do when she opens the door to Jason? I hope she listens and opens up to him again.

Re: Godfathers
Chapter 10

Elizabeth’s head jerked to the door. Her hand floated in mid air above the canvas. Her eyes floated to the clock on her desk. She heard the knock again.
“Who is it?”
“Jason.” The paint brush fell from her hand onto the floor, draping blue paint in its wake. Silently berating herself, Elizabeth went about the task of cleaning up.
“I’ll be there in a minute.” Finishing her tasks, she caught her eye in the mirror to straighten her hair. Pausing at the door, she steadied her breath.

In what seemed like forever, Jason waited. Suddenly, the door flew open and he came face to face with the object of his desire.
“Hi.”For some reason he couldn’t form words. He remained motionless, watching her expression. In a amusement he noticed her right eyebrow lift.
“I came by...because I...wanted to...thank...you. Thank you for helping me with Lily.”Elizabeth leaned against the doorway.
“You went to talk with her?”
“No.”
“She went to talk with you?”
“No. We still haven’t talked.”
“Then why are you thanking me?”He rubbed the back of his neck. Why did he think this was going to be easy?
“We found her.”
“Lila told you where she was.”He frowned.
“Why won’t you just let me thank you?”
“Because you don’t seem to know what you’re thanking me for.”She countered.
“You really want to know?”He asked feeling his anger bubbling.
“Yes I do.”She folded her arms across her chest.
“Because you protected her, you make her smile and laugh...She trusts you.”He sighed,”And all I want is for her to be happy.”She eyed him for a moment before letting a small smile appear.
“Now was that so hard?”In spite of himself, he chuckled,”I didn’t do it for you, I did it because I love Lily. She’s more like a kid sister to me than anything else.”He nodded. Silence engulfed them and the mood changed.
“When was the last time you went for a ride?”Elizabeth darted her eyes to his.
“It’s been a long time.”
“Would you want to?”
“Is that an offer?”
“Yes.”He watched her eyes claim the same glimmer they used to all those years ago.
“Then what are you standing there for? Let’s go.”

Re: Godfathers
Chapter 11

Elizabeth watched Lily stop in front of her. They had ran the last quarter mile and sprinted their way to the “finish line”...the docks. With her hands in the air, the younger woman gave her friend a tired smile.
“That’s the first time this week I’ve beaten you.”Lily commented catching her breath. Elizabeth struggled to do the same, resting her hands on her hips. She was already tired from the night before. Her mind began to wander...shaking her head, Elizabeth returned her attention to her “kid sister”.
“Because I gave you a head start...”The blonde whipped her head around giving way to a playful snort.
“Oh please...”They shared a laugh as they glanced out at the harbor. Lily was the first to hear footsteps on the stairs behind Elizabeth. The brunette noticed how the blonde suddenly became tense and stiff. Sighing from frustration and exhaustion, Elizabeth grudgingly turned around.
“Good morning.”Elizabeth breathed a sigh of relief noticing it was only Michael. The red head maintained his gaze with Lily.
“It was until you showed up.”She snapped,”What do you want now?”

“Boss, she might not even be there...we’re running a little late...”Max told Sonny as they walked down the alley toward the docks. As they rounded the corner, the mob boss motioned for him to be silent. From the shadows, Sonny peered down at the scene below.

Elizabeth’s head snapped up at Lily’s words. What in the world was she so angry at him for? Max, Francis, Johnny...hell even Jason and Sonny. But Michael? He wasn’t even with them that night. Taking a step back, Elizabeth eyed the looks passed between the two teenagers. Michael, in his prep clothes, standing like the arrogant kid he was. Lily, in her jogging outfit, arms folded across her chest in a typical teenage girl royally pissed off stance. As they sized each other up, Michael gave a charming smile.
“I was under the impression Livingston educated ladies with class.”
“I wasn’t aware you became an expert about class. Tell me Michael, can you spell it?”
“I can spell a lot of things. Slut is one that comes to mind.”
“Of course it would considering you surround yourself with them.”Smiling, Michael took a few steps towards her.
“You know, Lily, talent is something women crave especially when it is the only thing that seems to satisfy them.”
“You condescending, arrogant...”
“Name calling never was one of your strengths.”
“Well we can’t all humiliate and hold women against their will...”The charm vanished from his face as he took a few steps closer to Lily. Anger set in his body.
“Some are foolish, stupid girls who should know better...”
“Lily, Michael, Elizabeth....how is everyone this morning?”The three turned to see Francis walking down the steps. Lily and Michael backed away from each other, regaining their composure. Elizabeth shot Francis a grateful smile. Sonny and Max were soon to follow, but made no mention of the scene they overheard. Within a few minutes, nearly everyone had parted ways. Only Sonny, Francis and Max remained on the docks. The three exchanged confused glances at the teenagers’ discussion. A pair of footsteps appeared on the dock. The three men looked at the unexpected newcomer.
“What do you think you’re doing?”Sonny asked, hands on his hips, as he stepped forward to meet the person.
“Mr. Corinthos, I was merely walking by when I saw the altercation between the gentleman and the young lady. That was your son, was it not?”Sonny’s eyes darkened, his face serious.
“You leave them out of this, Lorenzo. I mean it, you stay the hell away from them.”

Re: Godfathers
Chapter 12

Kelly’s was busy, well as busy as it could be on a Thursday. Elizabeth carried two plates from the kitchen to a couple waiting for their order. She gave them her usual polite smile and then went to work on an abandoned table littered with dishes and silverware. As she was placing each object into the bin, she heard the door open. Without thinking, she turned around. A soft smile graced her face as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
“Hey you.”She greeted as he took a few steps towards her.
“Hey yourself.”He scanned the emptying diner,”Rush hour almost over?”Picking up the bin, she turned to him and gave a small chuckle.
“Something like that. Did you want anything?”His hands were in the pocket of his leather jacket. She could tell he was debating his answer.
“Alright.”
“Okay, I’ll be over with your coffee....”She started towards the counter.
“Black.”She turned to face him.
“Jason, I think I know how you take your coffee by now.”Elizabeth smiled as she went to work behind the counter. Jason eyed the empty tables and sat down at one. He couldn’t help, but watch Elizabeth. The way she made each graceful step, how her hair bobbed at the slightest movement, the kind yet professional manner she communicated to the customers with. He returned his attention to her hair, noticing its inclination to curl - God how he missed those curls. When she was finished with the few customers left, she brought his coffee to him.
“Here you are.”She said setting the mug in front of him,”May I?”She asked tilting her head to the empty chair across from him. Jason looked up as he took a sip.
“Why else would I come here?”Elizabeth felt herself blush as she sat down. A month ago she would have never believed she would be sitting here with him. And on top of that, he, Jason Morgan, was flirting with her. They sat in silence for a few seconds, as Elizabeth drummed her fingers across the table. Jason taking another sip of his coffee.
“You’re not going to hold me to that bet we made last night.....are you?”Elizabeth asked softly. Jason tried hard to fight back a smile and appear serious.
“If I remember correctly it was this morning you made the bet with me.”He watched as her jaw dropped slightly,”A deal’s a deal Elizabeth.”He went to take another sip of his coffee.
“But...but it doesn’t count....I was...was under the influence. That’s right I had too much too drink at Jake’s and...”
“You weren’t the only one.”He chuckled at the pointed look she threw him.
“You hold your liquor better than me and you know it.”Jason rubbed the back of his neck nodding at her words.
“Yea you’re right.....I wasn’t the one talking with a southern accent.”He stopped rubbing his neck and looked at her,”And since when did Top Gun become your favorite movie? I always thought it was that old one with people singing....”
“White Christmas...It’s called White Christmas and it just happens to be one of the most beloved films of the holiday season.”He leaned back in his chair.
“Uh huh okay...so what about Top Gun?”Elizabeth refused to look him in the eye. Their time at Jakes early that morning breezing through her mind.”Is it that guy?”Her eyes shot up to meet his.
“Who? Tom Cruise?”He rolled his eyes.
“Yea. Him. You have thing for him.”Elizabeth’s eyes widened.
“I do not!”She watched as he acted like he wasn’t convinced,”I do not have a thing for Tom Cruise!”She whispered loudly trying not to draw any more attention to them,”I do not...”She lightly kicked Jason under the table,”he’s not my type.”Jason’s head perked up, his eyes twinkling as he took in her defiant state.
“Then what is your type?”
“Uh....”Elizabeth couldn’t tear her eyes from his, the question taking her by surprise,”I um.....”She took in his appearance and shook herself out of the bewilderment,”Well I suppose...”She started, acting in a confident manner as she rested her elbows on the table,”I like guys who are tall....with..blonde highlights....and I guess I’m just a sucker for blue eyes.”She smirked and watched Jason’s face light up. He gave her a slow sexy smile. As he leaned forward to say something, his cell phone went off. Breaking the mood, Elizabeth motioned that she was going to take care of something. Cursing under his breath, Jason angrily opened his cell.
“What?”He boomed and his expression changed several times during the conversation. Not even waiting to exchange pleasantries, he shut his phone. Standing up, he left a bill on the counter as he shoved the phone back in his pocket. As Elizabeth left a customer, he grabbed her around the waist, pulling her towards him.
“I have to go, but next time we go to Jakes we’ll make the same bet...and I just might let you win.”Elizabeth looked up at Jason, blushing slightly.
“Would you really?”She watched the slow sexy grin come back on his face.
“Yes. I don’t want to lose you forever.”He looked deep into her eyes before leaning in and gently kissing her. Breaking away, he looked her in the eye again,”I’ll see you later.”He let their hands stay locked for a second before completely pulled away. Elizabeth watched him leave and took a deep breath. She needed to get her heart rate back down to normal.

Re: Godfathers
Chapter 13

The knock on the door woke Lily out of her thoughts. She was attempting to make a flower arrangement, the proof was in the various stems scattered along the table. Wiping her hands on her jeans, she carefully opened the door.
“Hey.”Johnny said with a small smile,”I know you didn’t want anyo...”Lily opened the door wider and stepped aside, a signal for him to enter,”No, I...uh...I don’t really have long.”She leaned up against the door jamb with her arms folded across her chest,”I know I’ve already said this probably about a hundred times already, but I’ll keep saying it until you forgive me...because I am sorry.”He saw that she was about to say something,”But that’s not the only reason I came by.”He watched her mouth shut,”I’m leaving town...”
“For business?”She asked, her voice raw.
“Yea....”He nodded,”I..I just, I know it’ll be your birthday soon...and...well...I might not be back before then so I...uh...”He pulled an envelope out of his jacket,”Before Mom died, she wrote this and told me to give it to you when you turned eighteen. I...I’ve never opened it, no one has....so...uh ...here you go.”He held it out to her and she studied it for a moment before taking it,”Well...uh....I should get going...”
“Okay.”She whispered watching him leave. Her eyes flickered between the envelope in her hand and her brother walking down the hall away from her.

“Elizabeth.”Brenda greeted walking into the diner. She immediately made her way to the counter, hopping onto the stool. The waitress looked up from the cash register.
“Hey Brenda.”Elizabeth replied. It amazed her that she would get along so well with the woman.
“So, I came by to deliver some good news.”Elizabeth studied Brenda with a confused expression,”I....”She said with a large smile,”divorced Jason...finally!!”Elizabeth joined Brenda’s laughter.
“Is it final?”Elizabeth asked carefully and the other brunette nodded.
“Thank God. My things are already packed and I’m moving back into my old cottage.”Brenda watched Elizabeth pour coffee into a cup,”So now you are free to go after Jason without any legal hassle...not like I would have done anything...”Elizabeth’s eyes were large, her hand slightly faltering.
“What makes you think...?”
“Oh please!”Brenda exclaimed,”I know Carly says I’m an idiot, but I didn’t think you started believing her!”She leaned forward,”All anyone has to do is see the way Jason looks at you. Whenever you walk into the room, Elizabeth, his entire face lights up....”She paused taking a minute to laugh,”you have no idea how happy I am to be rid of that name. I mean I like my initials...B.B....Brenda Barrett..”
“Bridget Bardot.”Elizabeth added.
“Betty Boop.”Both erupted into a thunderous laugh. That was the scene Carly walked in on.
“What’s so funny?”She snickered.
“I...I divorced Jason...”Brenda explained in between laughs. Making her way to the counter, Carly sat herself two stools away from Brenda.
“Is it final?”She questioned.
“What is it with everyone? You think I want to be married to Jason?!”She looked between Elizabeth and Carly,”I don’t and I no longer am.”The blonde smiled.
“Would you like help moving Brenda?”
“Step ahead of you, Carly, I’m already moving into my old cottage.”Carly’s eyes lit up.
“Well this calls for a celebration.”Carly bounced off the stool and made her way to the kitchen.

Lily’s boots glided across the damp grass. Night was beginning to set. Clutching the letter in her hand, she made her way to the grave stone. Kneeling in front of it, she took a deep breath.
“Hi Mom.”She whispered,”I...I know it’s been a long time. Johnny, gave me your letter and...”She gave a small laugh,”I read it already...I’m just a week early. I wish things were different...that you hadn’t been in that car crash, that you were still alive.”For a long time she sat there, thinking in the quiet, staring at the gravestone before her and those around her.

Two empty bottles of champagne stood on the counter at Kelly’s. Three very drunk women struggled to balance themselves whether it was standing or sitting on the stools.
“Ano...Anotherr toaste.”Brenda ordered raising her glass wildly in the air,”Too the stuppid, arrogant men...of our lives...”
“Mmm....controlling...”Carly added and Brenda nodded.
“Yes...contr....contr...what she said.”Brenda hiccupped,”To the boys...God help uss....we llove them.”The three clanked their glasses together laughing wildly.

The gravel was wet and slippery, but it didn’t deter her; she didn’t slow her steps. Her legs running at such a fast pace, the guard behind her was almost out of breath. Rounding the corner, Lily rushed up to the metal fence. The airport was busy, a plane ready to leave. Noticing the cars around Sonny’s private jet, her eyes struggled to find the man she was looking for. Fingers interlaced with the metal, Lily pressed herself as close as she could.
“Johnny!!”She screamed,”Johnny!!!!”She yelled louder desperately trying to catch the men’s attention.

“So O’Brien try not to get into too much trouble.”Max commented as they walked Johnny to the plane.
“Yea and don’t do anything I wouldn’t...”Francis snickered and Johnny hit him in the arm.
“Watch it. I just might...”He stopped; all three turning around. From a fair distance they could make out the silhouette of a woman.
“Johnny...”His name caressed the wind and the men began moving away from the plane.
“No way...”Max whispered in disbelief as Johnny began running towards the woman. A faint smile crossed Francis’ face.
“Well I’ll be.”

To Lily’s credit, her brother began sprinting towards her. Noticing, for the first time, the open gate to her left, she began running as well. The chilling air was stinging her eyes making them water. One tear managed to glide down her delicate face. Within seconds, she had caught up with her brother, effectively launching herself into his arms. They clung to each other tightly as Johnny managed to keep them balanced.
“I’m sorry....I’m sorry for being a pain and not forgiving you....I do forgive you..”She whispered gently crying, the tears falling onto his shoulder. She felt him pull away and look down at her. His eyes were glistening with unshed tears of his own and he struggled to find his voice. Finally, he let out a small chuckle, gently wiping the tears away from her face.
“Truce?” He asked holding out his hand and she matched his smile.
“Truce.”She whispered back raising her own hand. The engine of the plane roared to life behind them. Knowing he had to leave, Johnny pressed his lips softly against her forehead.
“I gotta go. Catch you later kid.”He said playfully jabbing at her jaw. She laughed and watched him walk away. She didn’t know what it was. The strong wind encircling her. The chilling mist clinging to her body. The deafening roar of the private jet. But she felt the intensity of the moment, her heart pounding against her chest.
“Johnny!”She shouted and he turned around,”I’ll love you forever!!”She exclaimed as a few tears escaped her eyes; he smiled.
“I love you too!”He shouted back. Taking one last longing look at his little sister, he turned around and walked back to the plane. He never said a word as he passed by his friends, nothing as he took the steps two at a time to enter the plane, not even acknowledging the pilot or crew. Instead, he grabbed the seat in the back, closing his eyes as he leaned his head against the wall and let out the breath he had been holding for three weeks.

“Let me get this straight...”Carly said moving her glass wildly in the air,”You make a bet with Jason....playing pool....”Elizabeth nodded absently as she refilled her glass,”If he won...you cold...culd...”She narrowed her eyes,”can’t,”She decided triumphantly,”mention the bike...I hate that bike...”Carly added getting off topic,”...it’s so loud...”
“The bet...”Brenda reminded her and Carly smiled.
“Thasst’s right,”She slurred and turned her attention back to Elizabeth,”the bet...what was I saying?”
“If I lost I coudn’t talk about the bike....but Jason alllwwaayyss winds...wins..”She corrected herself,”..I...,”She hiccuped,”..I....told him...Morgan.”She started standing up straighter, or at least trying to,”Take mee to bed...or lose me forever.”She said the last part with finality as she slammed her glass on the counter; hard enough for some wine to spill out making her laugh. Brenda wrinkled her nose.
“I..I don’t like Tom Cruits...Crewls....”Brenda scratched her nose before smiling,”Cruisee,”She said smiling and Carly gave her a knowing smile.
“You never close your eyes any more when I kiss your lips..”Carly sang out of tune, Elizabeth and Brenda giggling,”And there’s no tenderness like before in your fingertips....You’re trying hard not to show it...”
“Baby....”The brunettes joined her and they all sang loudly, belting out each line”But Baby, Baby I Know It!!! You’ve Lost That Lovin Feelin....Whoa That Lovin Feelin....You’ve Lost That LOVIN Feelin....Now It’s Gone....Gone....Gone....WHOAOHOH....budum...budum...dudum dum dum...!!!”
The three women, in their obnoxious laughter, were oblivious to the men who were standing at the entrance; their jaws dropped, still and shell shocked. None more than Sonny Corinthos. He moved slightly, but it was enough to catch them off guard.
“Sonny!!!”Carly squealed in a drunken slur. He rubbed the back of his neck, debating whether to laugh or leave.
“Do you have any idea what time it is?”He asked a little roughly,”It’s midnight.”He watched the confused expressions on their faces and sighed,”midnight....twelve a.m.....morning...?”He suggested and they looked at each other.
“Morning?”Elizabeth mumbled as she tilted her head and looked at the two in front of her. They pondered for a moment before turning back to him and the rest of the men.
“Good Morning Sonny....”The three sang in unison and burst into a thunderous laugh as they looked at each other.
“Charlie’s angels?”Brenda asked leaning forward.
“No...Sonny’s angels.”Carly replied whispering as though they were conspirators.
“Oh...”Brenda exclaimed as though she had discovered a big secret,”I like Sonny better...he has a cute smile...”She said turning around.
“Okay, we’re going. Fun’s over girls.”He started, motioning for the men to drag the women out.
“Nooooo.”Brenda pouted,”I don’t wanna go.”
“You no fun, Sonny.”Carly whined as she was dragged out behind Brenda.
“But...but I was liking Carly and Brenda and we have sooo much to talk about....”Elizabeth chattered as she passed by Sonny, her eyes pleading. The three women stood in the courtyard, a guard holding each of them upright. Sonny exited the diner and lead the way to the limo awaiting them.
“Let go of me...”Carly moaned pushing off the guard as Brenda and Elizabeth did the same,”We’re Sonny’s Angels...”She said and the three went to mimic the pose, but in their inebriated state, they tripped over each other and fell onto the ground,”Brenda?”Carly asked after a moment.
“Yea?”The brunette asked lying at the bottom of the pile.
“Yea dead?”
“Nope.”

Lily stood in the hall staring at the mahogany door. Taking a deep breath she slowly lifted her hand before knocking. Waiting anxiously for a few moments, she closed her eyes thinking no one was home. About to turn around, the door flew wide open. She looked the person in the eye.
"Do you have..a minute?"
