Goats: Dry coughing and treatment for loss of appetite.
Goats with dry cough seems like an epidemic that spreads throughout the herd but does not persist. Have had some with runny nose and matter in the eyes almost like an allergy cold. Some say may be lung worms use ivermectin for worms while alternating dewormers about every other month. Penecillin has been used for the cold like symptoms, but when the cough is not accompanied with the other symptoms their appetite is not effected. The other cold like symptoms are usually a morning type symptom and when not treated with penecillin will go away during the day. Any ideas that may help treat the symptoms would be much appreciated. Also any ideas about treatment for loss of appetite.

Response to coughing fits
Sounds like your goats have the early stages of Phneumonia. I just lost a kid to that a few days ago. Call your vet and ask them. If it's phneumonia and you don't stop it in time, no amount of medication will save them. Anelgesic, a subcutaneous injection, may help with their eating, but if it doesn't, you really should call a vet. Sequester the sick ones immediately, though. You don't want them infection the rest of the herd.
Good luck to you.
