In Character

Name: Ginevra ‘Ginny’ Molly Weasley

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Residence: The Burrow, which is situated on the outskirts of London.

Year: 6th

Blood: Pureblood

Wand: 9 inches, Unicorn Hair, Oak

Appearance:

Ginny Weasley is easily recognized in a crowd of people, having been cursed with vivid red hair and pale skin. She normally tends to leave her hair down in its natural curls, and spends little to no time on it. Having grown up with 6 older brothers, she has never been one to spend much time on hair or makeup. However, she has a natural beauty that would only weaken if she were to wear such things. It helps having these habits, for she is easily one of the last girls to get out of bed in the morning. Having become accustomed to these habits, it only takes her a few short minutes to get out the door and on with her busy day. One of the many trademarks she, as well as the rest of the Weasley’s happened to have are her freckles, which are most commonly found on her arms and her cheeks. Although they aren’t very dark, they do tend to stand out on her fair skin tone.

To accommodate her unmistakable red hair, she also happens to have big brown eyes. Her high cheekbones are one of her best features, as well as her defined eyebrows and eyelashes. However, the color is much lighter then that of her long red hair, and it is sometimes mistaken for even a pale blond. Usually a smile is spread across her lips, even though truth be told, it hurts her to smile. Her past events have placed scars on her, which she tries her best to hide from all who happen to be close to her.

Even with all her brothers and father being fairly tall, Ginny has never been able to reach such heights. She stands at a dreadful height of only 5’4”. Her figure is skinny, a main reason to why her mother expects her to eat as much of her brothers. Ginny knows the women’s reasoning is simply because she has always thought that Ginny has been far too skinny for her age. Although in her younger years, she was known to be quite lanky in most of her body, she has since then filled out some. She has kept her figure, or whatever that happens to be, by practicing Quidditch time and time again. Her arms and legs lack any sort of muscle, yet her speed and height helps her out a great deal in the air.

She is normally found wearing her school uniform on weekdays, which of course almost happen to have been bought second hand. She usually leaves a few buttons undone, and has never been the most proper dressed student in the school. Even though some may think that Ginny wears her elder brothers handme downs, she has yet to be forced to do anything of that sort. She is always found rushed in the morning, simply trying to get on her uniform, even if it doesn’t look tidy of any sort. She isn’t afraid to wear any type of muggle clothing on weekends, even with the growing threats. Even if that may be the case, she feels much safer in her robes at the school outings.

Personality:

Ginny Weasley has always been known to take after Fred and George. She is a trickster at heart, and has always loved to cause mischief. Most mistake her for being a quiet little girl, and this tends to make most underestimate her. That being a main reason to why most don’t believe Ginny could have done such a thing in her first year such as opening the Chamber of Secrets. She also has a great sense of humour, loving a good laugh. Although she may poke fun at her friends and siblings, she would never do anything to truly humiliate others. She has always been generally a kind person, although her temper does tend to make her seem as though she is nothing of the sort.

Do not get her wrong, the sweet little girl she once was is still deep down inside her. She has now become quite independent, and wouldn’t let anyone take a row at her or anyone she cared for. If she thought you fully deserved to be argued with, she would not hesitate doing so. She is found to be quite hot headed and stubborn, and will stick up for those who are dearest to her. In her fourth year, she was the only person that had told Harry he was out of line, while the others were far too scared to. She also tends to stick up to her brothers quite a bit, for they are far too protective for her liking. Some seem to forget that she has grown and matured, and still are stuck on the thinking that she is a small girl.

Ginny Weasley had to jump over many obstacles in her life, and it only shows that she holds much more bravery then most would like to give her credit for. Her past has been quite tough, but till this day she stands with her head high. During the time the golden trio were making their way to the Department of Mysteries, she was in no way being left behind. She will tell others what she thinks, mostly in a subtle way, and will not fear the reaction.

Ginny is extremely loyal to those she holds dear to her, mostly being her family. She would do anything and everything for them, even if it meant putting her own life on the line. She is someone that you could talk to about anything, and never would it leave her own lips. This does not mean it is easy for her to open up to you, for she rarely talks about her first year with anyone. Her past is something she deals with every moment of every day, for it still is something that she has trouble coming to terms with. Slowly she has begun to accept what has happened, but the day has yet to come when she can fully do so. She has parts of her life that are a complete secret, some that no one knows about, not even her own family. One being the nightmares she has, which usually tend to keep her up, rather then allow her to fall to sleep. She fears that if she falls into a deep sleep, she will no longer have control over what she wanted to be reminded of. Her past is something most don’t know, and her scars have been hidden quite well over many years of lying to protect those she loved. She would hate to think that her friends and family would worry about her, being that there happens to be much more to actually worry about.

Ginny Weasley was born the first daughter of the Weasley family, as well as the baby of the family. She was brought into a home that consisted of those who loved each other, and she never experienced the feelings of hatred. This tended to make her sheltered from the hardships in life, and it hadn’t really made her ready for her first year either. She never got much during her childhood, considering the Weasley family were not very wealthy, but she soon learnt that there were much more important things then money. They spent their money where it was needed, such as for the essentials being food and shelter.

Her brothers had always been protective over what she did when she was a child, most still not accepting that she has grown up to this day. During their childhood, she was not allowed to play Quidditch. This only drove her to break their rules, and began to love causing mischief. Starting at the young age of 6, she began to break into the broom shed and take each broom out in turn when her brothers didn’t happen to be looking. Till this day they still don’t know about it, and she is in no way going to be telling them either.

She looked up to all the boys during that time, being that they were older and ‘wiser’ then her, as they liked to say. Looking back, she truly doesn’t understand how she had even thought something of the sort. She wanted to be like them in every way they allowed her, and that meant she was to act like a boy. She wore pants instead of skirts when she was young, even with her mother frequently asking her to simply try this and that on. If she went near make up, her brothers would tell her to ‘stop acting like such a girl’. She grew accustom to acting and living like just one of the boys would.

On her 11th birthday, it was no surprise she received her acceptance letter from Hogwarts. She knew without a doubt that she would be accepted, all her other brothers having already been as well. She was excited to finally be able to get more responsibility, and it did help that Harry Potter would be there as well. Since Ronald had introduced the boy to both his mother and Ginny, she had grown fond of him. At the time she would have thought it to be love, yet now knows it only to have been a silly little crush. It was around the time she was smitten with the boy, she hit puberty. She finally realized that most girls her age weren’t rolling around in the mud, but having nice tea parties together.

She finally could care less about what her brother thought, and didn't even care what they said when she did begin to wear skirts. It didn’t take long, only a few weeks of completely ignoring the poor girl, until they realized it was fine if she acted like most girls should. The elder of the boys approved of her changes far before any of the younger ones did, but they finally came around. She was excited to finally be joining most of the boys at school, seeing how the last few years had been dreadfully lonely for her.

Her first year at Hogwarts was not a pleasant one, considering Tom Riddle had possessed her for the most part. She had put all her trust and loyalty into the words she wrote in the book, having only been ordered to do his deeds in return. She spent the year tired and exhausted, wondering why she happened to feel that way. She hardly remembered what she had done, and to whom she had done it. Those memories of her first year are ones that haunt her every dream, and have forever been imprinted in her mind.

She experienced how it felt to lose someone you could truly trust. It was much harder for her because she had put all the trust she had to offer into the words she wrote. It didn’t help either that she hadn’t even seen it coming, having thought that a magical diary was obviously not anything to worry about. She wasn’t ready for the heartache she would receive, being very much sheltered from all the traumas that would be found in life.

Going home after that year was a nightmare, for it was like none of her family could simply let it go. She desperately was trying to forget about the horrible things that had happened, yet couldn’t with her parents breathing down her back. Her whole family seemed to find the need to watch her every move, and try everything in their will to make her not hurt herself any. She felt like she was a circus animal, one that was being watched so it didn’t cause any danger to anyone. She began to get frustrated, and constantly snapped at the whole lot of them.

It was around the summer she began to get the nightmares, which would haunt her for the rest of her life. She never told anyone, in fear that she would be locked away with the people in Azkaban. Could you blame her at the time? Sirius Black had only been rumored to have escaped, and that was the main trigger in her imagination. She also couldn’t let her parents worry anymore, for they spent most of their time fretting over her as it was. They got worst over the days, yet she simply hid the scars it left on her.

Her second year passed in somewhat of a daze, for she was still recovering from the past years events. Her crush on the famous Harry Potter developed quite a bit, into something that she may have actually thought as love. In her eyes, he was the only boy for her. She kept to herself quite a bit that year, being one to listen and watch others. This made others not exactly warm up to the girl, and it was then she first met Colin Creevey. The two hit it off from the beginning, and they both shared the love of Harry Potter. Colin admired the boy, while Ginny adored him. Slowly, yet not quite, she began to open up a touch.

It was in her third year that she gave up on Harry Potter, and finally realized it was nothing more then a silly little crush. At the time she thought that moving on would make her happy in return. She had forever acted like a star struck admirer, and that didn’t improve her relationship with him at all. Later in her life, she found out that he actually hated the attention people seemed to give him. Not only did it make Ginny finally begin to make more friends then simply admiring the Boy-Who-Lived, it also improved her relationship with the golden trio. She was no longer a lost puppy that trailed after them, and soon began to build an actual friendship with them. She was more of a friend to them, rather then an admiring follower.

It was a surprise to most when she went to the Yule Ball with her fellow friend Neville Longbottom, having rejected Harry Potter’s offer. Neville had asked her first, and she only saw it fit that she accept his invitation. Having done so, some started to think that maybe she finally fancied Neville. However, Ginny only felt that Neville was like a brother to her. During the Yule Ball, she met fellow Ravenclaw Michael Corner. It was then she knew that she was fully over Harry.

The two began to date, being careful not to let her brother know about it, for he were protective enough as it was. Soon her fourth year came. When both Harry and Ron were suspended from the Qudditch team, she amazed everyone by landing the place as Seeker. Yet, she would have much rather played the games as a Chaser, feeling that there was more action in that position. She slowly began to show her fellow students that there was much more to her then meets the eye, and joining DA was only part of it. Along with her came Michael Corner and his friend, who only came on account that Ginny happened to be there.

When her friends were departing for the Department of Mysteries, she demanded that she was not left behind. Even though Ron tried hard to keep her from coming, she was much too stubborn to go down without a fight. In the end she did go, and only proved how brave she actually happened to be. In return, she insisted that no one help her when a Death Eater had broken her ankle. It was then that the golden trio had to deal with a great sorrow, the death of fellow Order member Sirius Black. Though she hardly knew Sirius, she knew what grave lost Harry, Ron and Hermione all went through. She had to stay strong for them, since they all lost someone quite dear to them.

Near the end of her fourth year, she ended up breaking up with Michael Corner. It was for the best, considering it was as though he couldn’t handle when Gryffindor had beat Ravenclaw at the Qudditch finals. She knew she didn’t have to worry about the boy, for he seemed to find his way into the arms of Cho Chang only moments after. She left that year with more knowledge and strength then she would have ever thought possible. She once again returned to Number Twelve, Grimmauld place, only to be reacquainted with the fears she held in her first year. Even though she had tried hard not to come to terms with the fact that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was once again on the rise, she finally had to face painful reality.

It was in her fifth year that the world saw the damaged that the Dark Lord could make once more, and the fear began to rise as the days passed on. Not only was the world changing around her, but for once in her life, people began to notice that she was no longer Ron’s little sister. To her amazement, it was in this year that her childhood crush confessed his own crush on her. Even so, it didn’t last as long as she would have hoped, since the coming war was interfering with everything. However, Ginny had only expected so, and at the end of the year, the shattering news fell. Dumbledore had been defeated. The only wizard that the Dark Lord had ever feared was know gone.

Role play sample:

Ginny Weasley’s eyes opened a crack, as she heard a loud bang from above her. She didn’t need to take long to guess whom the person causing all the racket was, for she knew it had to be one of the twins. It was a familiar sound that woke her up in the early morning. It wasn’t very early, more so a ways after lunch, yet Ginny had a hard time getting to sleep as it was. She knew that once she fell asleep, she could no longer control what images came to her mind. Mostly her fears of being once again reminded of the past scared her, and she would much rather survive on little sleep then having to relive the events that happened in her first year. Yet, it seemed like once she finally fell asleep, it was really hard to wake the poor dear. Her friends were furious about that during the weeks at Hogwarts, for she usually had to run around to get ready in time for class.

She shoved a pillow in her face, trying to bloke the light that pierced through her curtains. She was tired, and hated being woken up, yet knew the boys would never stop. It was tough for a girl to live with 6 older brothers, those who didn’t respect that a girl needed beauty sleep. Finally, with much effort, she pulled herself out of bed and roughly put on some clothes. She had never been big with make up, or getting dressed up. Another quality one would receive being raised with older brothers. When she had been younger, her brothers frowned upon her when she did the slightest as put a bit of her mothers blush on her cheeks. Then she had wanted to please them, being that they were all older and wiser. She simply laughed at those times in the past, not knowing why she had tried so hard to do it, or even having admired any of them. She was more mature then most of the lot at the time being anyways.

She was taken out of her thoughts once more, as another loud bang came from upstairs. She simply rolled her eyes, as she made her way for the door. She loved her family very much, yet sometimes they annoyed the hell out of her. Not only were they much too protective over her, they all seemed to want to make her frustrated. The stairs creaked as she winded down them, leading down towards the kitchen. She could smell the breakfast, but knew by then it was probably almost entirely gone. Her brothers all had large eating habits, and if she didn’t make it down in time, they would have probably ate everything. Luckily, her mother usually kept some saved for her, and for that she was greatful. She smiled sweetly at her mother, who in return handed her a plate of fresh bacon and eggs.

“Thanks mum, it looks wonderful!” Ginny said with a bright smile, taking the plate from her mother and sitting down in one of the many chairs. She loved her home, and even if it wasn’t the biggest, it was filled with so much love. She glanced over at her father who was inspecting something that was most likely muggle. All she did was let out a soft giggle, and shake her head at the man. She didn’t really know why he was so fascinated about their creations. “What do you have there dad?”

He opened his mouth, and she knew in an instant that he would be going into another long explanation. It would all sound the same to her in the end, but still she held a smile on her face. These people were there for her, forever and always. Even if they were overprotective, and treated her as a child, she loved them just the same. It just happens that sometimes she felt like she could literally drive one off a mountain, but that was only a day in the life of Ginny Weasley.
