Game Recap - 7/25/04
Ugh. Well, we wanted a starting pitcher to last beyond 5 innings, we got it - little good did it do us. It really isn't going to help to have the pitchers last if we're getting NO FRIGGIN' RUN SUPPORT. This team can find new and exciting ways to lose, that's for sure.

*Trax did a decent job and gave us the quality start we were needing, but he managed to give up the game winning homer in the process. Typical Met luck. :p

*Excellent day for Jose - 4 for 4, can't ask for much more than that. I wanted to slap Dave O'Brien for saying we needed him to go 5 for 5 at the end of the game. Jose is the one person in the lineup who got his job done today - we can't expect everything from him, you simp! :oy

*The second good performance by Mike DeJean in as many days. Hopefully this isn't an illusion and he won't suddenly wake up, realize he's wearing a Met uniform, and start to suck. We NEED all the help we can get from our pen!

*Good hustle from Todd Zeile to reach second on the Barfs error. He's sure getting everything he can out of his last few months...good for him. 8)

Sadly, there isn't much more to say about today. A loss we definitely did not need. And now we've got a tough road trip ahead of us. Hopefully, the front office will work some magic within the next few days. In the meantime, someone needs to light a fire under the offense. As usual, all we can do is take things one step at a time, and hopefully we can keep those steps from continuing to be in reverse!

LET'S GO METS!!! :blob2 :blob2 :blob2 :blob2

Re: Game Recap - 7/25/04
this weekend sucked......this homestsand sucked........the team going back to the weekend before the all-star game has sucked.

have i said "sucked" enough yet in this post? we have slipped to 3 games under .500 and 5 games out of first and are "this" close totally sinking out of any chance of contention. as i alluded to in another thread, maybe its a blessing in disguise......but yet i still hate losing, especially all these games at home vs our division rivals.

damn damn damn:fit

I hear you jim. The thing I'll never understand about this team is that any time they find themselves actually in contention, they seem to panic. And you can't pin the reaction on management, or even this same group of players, because the same thing happened under Bobby V. with different groups of players. Maybe the on field personnel just realize what the front office refuses to see - that they aren't really strong enough to contend as presently configured.

I'm still hoping Duq will be doing something to correct that within the next few days. It ain't over till it's over... ;)
