Game Recap - 7/21/04
As Dirty Harry would say...do you feel lucky? The Mets should - they pulled that one out of their hats like a vaudeville magician. Everyone owes Nick Johnson a nice steak dinner. Still, a win's a win - we'll take 'em however we can get 'em.
*Jae Seo pitched a good game. He was showing signs of implosion in the 5th, but I was really impressed with how he pulled himself together and settled down for the 6th. Nice work, Jae. 
*David Wright looked good in his debut - solid enough in the field and he made some good contact at the plate. Should've had at least two hits, had they not gone directly at a fielder. Hopefully, he'll have the jitters out of his system now and can start to settle down. Welcome to the bigs, David! 
*Our OF continues to impress - three nifty catches, one from each field. Man, is that nice to see for a change! 
*Speaking of impressing - that was some bullet Jose uncorked to Wiggy at first. He keeps that up and the Mets will HAVE to shift him back to short! 
*Kudos to Richard Hidalgo on the three run shot. That may just turn out to be the shrewdest move Duq has ever made. 
*About that steak dinner for Nick Johnson...Mike Stanton can foot the bill, since Johnson pulled his ass out of the fire BIG time. Consider yourself VERY lucky. 
So, we stole a win and the Barfs and Fish obliged by losing their respective games. Why do I have the feeling this thing is going to go right down to the wire? God, I LOVE this game!!
LET'S GO METS!!!!

we were fortunate to have won off of another teams defensive lapse.......but we have lost some games that way ourself, and its only appropiate we win some that way too.
of course, nothing the mets do comes easily.......now and again we "cruise" to a win, bu those are far and few between........takes a real "constitution" to be a mets fan!
