Game Recap - 7/20/04
For the second time in the last three days, I had to battle with myself over whether to even bother with a recap. But once again, I decided to hell with it - I've got a right to my opinion too. So here goes...
*Ah, Mr. Hyde showed up again - at home, surprisingly - and did his best to blow the game, only to be foiled by his own offense. Kudos to Trax for settling down after that lousy beginning and hanging tough, though. If only he could figure out how to permanently shut off Mr. Hyde.
*Kudos to Mike Cameron and Richard Hidalgo for the homers which helped fuel the offense and got us back out of that hole!
*Ongoing kudos to Jose Reyes. The more time passes, the more he impresses. He's finally settling in and becoming what we'd hoped he'd be, and is it ever nice to see. I especially love the heads up play on the basepaths. Haven't seen a Met that comfortable stealing bases since Rickey. Keep up the good work, kiddo.
*Um, er, Mike - if you're going to take tips from a firstbaseman, do us a favor and DON'T MAKE IT CLIFF FLOYD! We love Cliff, but that's not exactly a part of his career we care to relive. One wrist injury is bad enough.
*Ugh - we work our way all the way out of the Grand Canyon for THIS?! Nice job, John...but why stop at two, why not just walk the fucking bases LOADED while you're at it?
*Mike DeJean didn't look too bad in his first brief appearance. Who knows? Maybe this one will work out afterall. Can't be any worse than much of what we've got at any rate.
Well - two frustrating games in as many days. By all rights, that should've been two wins. Now is not the time for the Mets to fine tune their amazing ability to knock themselves out of games! This is serious, guys, in case you hadn't noticed. Fortunately, the Barfs and Phils managed to split their series, so we didn't actually lose any ground, but that's no excuse. We need to spend the next few days beating up on the 'Spos. Put up or shut up time...
LET'S GO METS!!!!

Re: Game Recap - 7/20/04
twas a game filled with both good and bad.......i was horrified at the 6 run first inning(i guess trachs figured if it was good enough for clemens, it was good enough for him.....LOL)........but then the horror quickly turned into elation when the mets scored the games next 7 runs for a 7-6 lead.....unfortunately, the offense quit there and we couldnt hold the marlins from further scoring.
even though we eventually lost, the game did serve as a reminder that this team can come back.......and i believe not only just from a bad start to game, but from a bad set of games over a few days.
lets see how we rebound from adversity and a bit of a losing string.......2 with the expos and 3 with the braves.......5 wins in a row anyone?

Sounds good to me, jim. I just hope you're right about the Mets ability bounce back from a string of bad games. They do seem to have much more fight in them than last year's team.
Time to listen to Lenny D. : "You're playing for first in NY - START ACTING LIKE IT!"
