Game Recap - 7/11/04
And so, the first half comes to an end. With somewhat of a whimper rather than a roar, unfortunately, but I can't complain about the state of things in general. There are a few specifics, however, that need to be addressed, but that's for the front office. In the meantime, there was today's mess.

*Ugh. Not the best time for a lousy performance from Al. That may have been his fugliest start since before the injury. Perfect timing, Al. :doh

*Great blockhead move from Todd Zeile, chalking up his 10th error on the season. Then again, we weren't exactly hiring him for his defense and he did make up for it later on with a nifty pick. :p

*Good hitting by Wiggy and Shane Spencer to get us within two...however temporarily. At least someone in the lineup was awake. :D

*Speaking of which...will the REAL Mike Piazza please step up? I know you're streaky, but aren't you overdue for a hot streak by now? :\

*Too bad we couldn't capitalize on the fielding gaffes by the Fish. Can't believe Choy didn't hear or see Lowell calling for that ball. Those are the kind of mistakes that cost you games...if you're the Mets, that is. :oy

*Mike Stanton...need I say more? Well, ok, I will...STUPID FRIGGIN' IDIOT!!! I think that says it all. :cuss

Well, ok, the last two series didn't end the way we'd have liked, but still not a bad job overall in the second half. I doubt many people would've expected us to be just 2 games out of first at this point. In a weird way, I'm actually glad both Glavine and Leiter faltered in their last two games - hopefully that will be just enough of a wakeup call to the front office and they'll get us the pitching we need. Should be a fun ride in the second half - let's just hope the Mets can stay with it!

LET'S GO METS!!! :blob2 :blob2 :blob2 :blob2

Definately a disappointing game today. And I agree, STUPID FRIGGIN IDIOT Stanton. LOL But after the all star break, we play the Phillies again, so things should get interesting. Lets hope it is all good for the mets.

Not soon enough for me, Fonz. :p

And agreed, Cheer - if the Mets can come back out firing on all cylinders, which shouldn't be a problem, this could be one heck of a second half! :D
