--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have many fruit trees and we are new to them. The one I am most concerned with right now is the Cherry Tree. it is full of cherries. they are just turning red. I wonder if they would ripen if I take them off the tree now. My concern is the birds will come in and get all the cherries. I know, I maybe have just a few days before that will happen.

Does anyone know about Cherry Trees?

Patty

A little..............I don't think one should pick them before they are ripe. The only way you can keep the birds out is to go to your local garden center and get fruit tree netting!!! Wish I could be of more help.......really wish I was there so I could help ya pick 'em.
Happy bird thwarting............LOL

I was just out there checking out the trees. We have 2 different kinds of Cherries. The one tree is hugh. the other tree is much smaller and the cherries are different they taste rather tart. But in the big tree the cherries taste pretty good. I wish you were here too. fly on over and we'll can them. I think if they last until Sunday I will invite my church home with me to pick them.

We also have some small apples, grapes, kiwi's, rasberries, and some really good plums. We have about 9 fruit trees in all.

Any good advise about any of these is welcomed.

Thanks Patty

I found out what type of cherry tree that is. It is a Rainier Cherry Tree. It is now ripe and ready to pick. I went to the store this morning and they have some. They cost 2.48 lb. Boy I am rich. We picked a bag of them this morning and we have invited some folks over tomorrow to pick and have Elk burgers.

Your all invited too.
