Freakin' Yankee Fans
Ya know, this is just a rant by me about Yankee fans so feel free to chime in.
With minor exceptions (Drew, Roool and Dani to name a few), they really are morons and the biggest sore losers I've ever seen. Ever since the Marlins lost, they've been crying about how the Yankees "lost" to the Marlins and how the Marlins "got lucky" or it was a "fluke" or the Marlins weren't the best team. Here's a newsflash for those idiots: the Yankees didn't lose. THE MARLINS BEAT THEM!!
Geez, it's ridiculous. They can't understand how the Marlins won when the Yanks had better numbers in just about every offensive category.
How did the Marlins win? Simple really. They pitched better and hit better in the clutch. They also played better defense. All that money and the Marlins ARE the best team. I don't care if they were a wild card team. They are the best because they won it all. Period. End of story. When all was said and done, the Marlins were still standing. That makes them the best team this year.
Now the Yankee fans are screaming for A-Rod, Sheffield, Guerrero and just about every other big-name player out there. I know it's a rag but even the NY Post called for the Yanks to get A-Rod. Real bright. Get a player you don't need for a position that's already filled. Incredible. Another mark in the "why the Post is a rag" column.
The Yankees were flawed coming into the playoffs. One smart decision by Grady Little and their season could've ended a lot sooner. I know I was saying the Marlins could win the Series before it started and I'm sure many here said the same thing. The Marlins won it by doing all the things the Yankees of the dynasty years (1996-2000) did. This Yankee team was very flawed and the Marlins proved it.
The Marlins exposed Alfonso Soriano as an undisciplined hitter (reminded me of what the Yanks did to Timo Perez in 2000) who never saw a pitch he wouldn't swing at. They exposed Jose Contreras as not being ready for prime time. They exposed Jason Giambi as not being able to hit an inside fastball. They exposed the Yankee middle relief as being about as useful as perfume on a pig. They exposed the

as being 2 prostitutes looking for dates in Hunt's Point. The bottom line is the Marlins exposed the Yankees on a national stage.
This Yankee team doesn't deserve to carry the jockstrap of the dynasty teams. Anyone else notice that only Jeter and Williams showed up offensively in the World Series? Posada did a great job defensively in slowing down the Marlins running game but was not anywhere near an offensive force. Pettitte had a great series (even pitched a helluva Game 6) and Rivera was.......well.......Rivera when he had a chance but otherwise, no Yankee distinguished himself. None of the big names (Clemens, Wells, Mussina, Giambi, Soriano, Boone, etc.) did anything to make me think this team was as good as, if not better than, the teams of 1996-2000. Matsui was the only one of the "new" players that had a good series. The rest stunk up the joint. Hell, even Jeff Nelson in his second go-round with the team was lousy.
Now part of this was players not having good series, this is true. However, the rest of it was the Marlins pitching, hitting and defense playing outstanding baseball. No, the Marlins did not play over their heads. Rather, they played smart, fundamental, smallball. They knew they couldn't match the Yankees in the power department so they played their game which is slap-hitting, running, good pitching and defense. Funny but it seems to me that the 2002 Angels did the same thing with the same result - a World Series title.
I hope the powers that be on the Mets were paying attention to this series. From what our new GM has said, it would seem that they were but only time will tell.
As for those moronic Yankee fans (other than Drew, Roool, Dani and any other reasonable Yankee fan I have forgotten to mention), GET OVER IT!!!!. Just face the fact and admit that the Marlins are the better team this year and move on.
eh, fuck them! all they know how to do is bitch and whine about losing or rub into the Mets Fans & Sox Fans faces about their 26 championships... who gives a fuck! just like you always say we lose this or that, you just did to you dumb fucks!
Get off your high horse and go fuck yourself!

Re: Freakin' Yankee Fans
I'll be the first Yankee fan to point out that the Marlins were more than deserving. They may have been a wild card team, but I believe they had the best record in baseball from the end of May until the end of the season.
We got schooled by a younger, stronger, *cringe* better team. And this Yankee team didn't even come close to the '98 team (which was the best I've ever seen, excepting POSSIBLY the '94 team).
Oh, one more thing. On behalf of Yankee fans eveywhere [obligatory]BLOW ME![/obligatory]
Sorry, had to do it. You understand.
We can go where we want to. A place where they will never find. And we can act like we come from out of this world, leave the real one far behind. And we can dance.

Of course he does, that's why everyone likes him so much. And now that Gay-Rod is going to be in Boston, they can finally get married.

Re: Freakin' Yankee Fans
Coming from you Drew, that "blow me" don't hurt.
That being said, the reaction from Yankee fans to Petttitte's fliipping the bird at $teingrabber after $teingrabber let him walk to the Astros, just proves my point. All of a sudden, Pettitte is a bum according to fans on the Yankee site because he refused to be treated like trash by $teingrabber.
The Yanks had ample opportunity to sign Pettitte and what's worse, they knew that they're only competition would be coming from the Astros which is Pettitte's home team. Did they make a pre-emptive offer? No. They focused on Sheffield, Heredia, Quantrill, Gordon, Sierra, Vazquez, Colon, Schilling and just about every other ML player rather than make a big time (and worthy) offer to a guy that has done nothing but win as a Yankee. But according to Yankee fans, Pettitte "sucks", is "disloyal", people now "hate" him and "always have", people are "glad he's gone", and he never "deserved to wear Yankee pinstripes." These same "fans" were chanting his name as he walked off the mound during Game 6 of the World Series.
See, this is why fans of other teams hate the Yankees. It's not so much that we hate the team. No, we hate those obnoxious, so-called "fans" who are sore winners and even sorer losers. We cheer on days like today and we revel in the Yanks misery. We also think the Yanks are an "evil empire" and we dream of the day when the empire crashes and burns from $teingrabber's excess. We live for that day and it is coming very soon.
We enjoyed watching the Marlins win the World Series almost as much as we would've enjoyed the Mets winning it. Why? Because they beat the Yanks and did it at Yankee Stadium.
Now, to be fair, there are just as many obnoxious fans of all team however, it seems to me, there are more obnoxious "Yankee fans" (I use that term very loosely here) than from other teams.
Perhaps it's the payroll and all the stars on the Yanks roster. Perhaps it's all the winning that has set the bar so high. Or perhaps, it's just some idiots who never watched even a little league game (including one they were playing in) before 1996. I don't know. This is just my observations here.
Come with me.....I'm fading underneath the lights

Re: Freakin' Yankee Fans
Real Yankee fans appreciate Pettitte and are very upset and angry at this situation. Why should anyone label Pettitte a traitor? He was treated like shit when he did nothing but win and represent the organization positively. It's just another part of the Steinasshole (changing names now, I've been hangin around you guys too much) plan. Which is, I can only assume, to fail and do it while spending as much money as possible.
The only hope for us REAL Yankee fans is that the whole Steinbrenner clan is destroyed in a plane crash (reminiscent of the O'Doyle family from Billy Madison). In his will, he would leave the team to Yogi Berra, Gene Michael, Joe Torre, and Don Mattingly. The quartet of owners will then restock the non-existent farm and restore dignity to a once spectacular franchise.
Hey, a guy can dream, right?

Re: Freakin' Yankee Fans
Well i'm happy that Pettitte did what he did. Steinfucker fucked up! he lost one of his most loyal and gifted Pitchers! Pettitte has beent he ONLY Yankee i liked over the years! and Personaly, i'm happy to see him go home to Houston for LESS money! Maybe steinfucker will realize that other people matter too! Money isn't always everything either, Loyalty is a very big part of it all!
Then again, what does he know about Loyalty? he goes and buys people left and right each year...
Re: Freakin' Yankee Fans
Drew, you're absolutely correct which is why I listed my exceptions when I started this list. Fans like you, Roool, Dani, etc., appreciate what Pettitte did and wish him well. Other "fans" think of him as a traitor even though he rejected a much higher offer from Boston (damn good thing he did - for the Yanks - because that would be a Yankee killer rotation: Schilling, Martinez, Pettitte, Lowe). $teingrabber blew it, plain and simple.
Kev, I too am glad he did it. Really, this was just like Olerud with us. Like us, the Yanks had a chance to lock him up and keep Houston from even getting a shot but they blew it. Now he's gone and the Yanks are very, very weak in the rotation. All righties too especially if Wells doesn't make it back.
