Favor to ask, please forgive me, Imp
I'm sorry to use this space for personal reasons, Imp, and if you decide to strike/move the thread, I'll understand. But I need to get this out to as many of our kind as I can; I need some help.

I have spent the past 6 months developing an Excel-based presidential election simulation, compatible thus far with the 2000, 2004, and 2008 campaigns. To this point, it seems to be extremely accurate, and I hope to use it to model the next election and submit my results to a political journal or something.

To get variable data for evaluation purposes, I've also generated a game that mocks the campaign process. (I actually kinda reverse-engineered this: I initially just wanted a model of the actual election night - what times states would be called - then realized I needed accurate data, and to get that I needed a good model of a campaign. Six months and much-more-of-a-nerd later...) Which brings me to the point:

I'm needing a few people (but as many as possible) interested in games or politics or both to play a game head-to-head against another anonymous opponent, PBEM format. (More than one would be nice, but I don't want to ask for too much...) Basically, I want to make sure that the formulas I use are not skewed by the lack of competitive forces.

I'll get more information out to those who are interested and reply, but in short, a sim should not take more than two weeks, tops. Probably less, depending on turnaround. The two players will email me their decisions, I'll put them in the model, and I'll send them results after each stage.

You can contact me at jwlbigdog@hotmail.com . If you are interested, or know someone who might be, please, please let me know. I think I have something unique, but I need data - cheap data - to prove it.

Thank you so much, and again, Imp, I apologize for intruding on your space.

I simply move this to the Ash Heap as it is the most appropriate location on the bulletin board.

OK, I didn't even think about this section of the board...

Hoping for a favorable response, so those of you that can spare a little time please do so.

This is great! Post away, and I'll look forward to seeing what this proves about politics.

I have an early guess...don't run a Democratic Northern Senator for the top office!

Still needing people
I have one game going now, but I still could use several more people. Any help is appreciated.

I'm testing both the game and the simulation itself. My primary emphasis is on the simulation, as I want to get the logic ready for the 2008 campaign. However, the game seems to really have it all. I'd love to figure out a way to develop it, but I imagine that's just a pipe dream. The market's kind of saturated with this stuff, anyway. Though I still believe my model beats anything out there, period. Just hard to sell a game based in Excel. I'd need some serious graphics, and I know jack about programming for real.
