Our beloved Duke and Commander
Vimes is my favorite...always has been, always will be. I don't want to elaborate since it is a bit late to be attempting to type anything.

I also have to choose Vimes. Although Nobby is, well, himself, Vimes is the best. I love when he outwits the assassins. And him in his pjs thratening the mob with the swamp dragon- priceless!

although i was tempted to go for his monitorship, it has to be Carrot. He has hidden depths. He's learnt a lot in the few years he's been in the city. He's going places... I want to know where....

Re: Our beloved Duke and Commander
I liked Carrot more in the earlier books, when he was... not stupid, definatley not stupid, but not quite in touch with the workings of the city ("Throw the book at him"). He's still ok, but I'd choose Vimes over him any day.
The Gangly Dwarf
I like Carrot. I wasn't going to say anything, just click the little button and let it be, but Scarlet and Grim wouldn't let it go.. so, I have always liked Carrot. He's got that genuine personal magnetism and is definately not the simple, well, fool, that he was when he entered the watch.
He's eaten his humble pie but ejoys tarts too...

I like Carrot, but he's always annoyed me. I started to like him more after 5th Elephant, though.

Vimes
this was a tough one.
Nobby nobs - kicked out of the human race for shoving - classic.
Carrot - took two opposing armies and started a game of soccer - awesome.
Captain Colon - well, what more can u say.
But Commander Vimes..... What a guy. he was the only other person in the entire of the disk to be removed from the assasins hit list, AND was pissed about it.
The guy who's entire office is designed to keep out assasins, mother-in-laws, and all other kinds of nasties.
The only guy who will disobey a direct command from the patrician (tho (hehehehe - there u go grim) of course it was intended)
samuel vimes just takes the cake..... and throws it through the window...... knocking out the guy trying to scale the greased walls
and who-ever would have guessed about lady sybil up until the event
Colon & Nobby
I think the pair Colon/Nobby must not be separated. Together both of them form the ever-classic dream-team - the smart and the dumb, the fat and the thin, a strange concoxtion of Laurel&Hardy, Smith&Jones and even Spencer&Hill.
I would vote for them (as a team) with both hands.
I have voted for Vimes, and of course you can't help liking a guy like him.
"... but there is no place where you can go, stand up and say 'Hi, my name is Sam and I am a really suspicious bastard' ..."
I know that the pieces fit, cuz I've seen them fall apart ...
Personally, I prefer Good Ole Vimesy than the rest of the Watch. In fact, the only time that i find Vimes vaguely annoying is in "The Truth", and that's only because he's mean to William
