Excited About the Mets This Year
I'm a lifelong NYer who roots for the Mets except when they play the Yanks (2000 was a great year for me). 2001 wasn't a terrible year for the Mets either. But then the Mets couldn't keep it together, and I became sad to think the Mets can only win the series once every 20 years.
And now this: Pedro (whom I hate), Beltran (whom I like but don't think he's worth the money or the hype), and now perhaps Delgado. That's a team built to win and now when I watch the Mets, I don't have to spend the whole game in despair over losing or worried about blowing a lead. Even if the Mets don't win it all, they'll contend into September, and that's really all I ask.
Also: If Cameron wants out of CF, ship him to the Yankees in return for Kevin Brown and cash for the salary difference. Mets get a needed pitching upgrade, and the Yanks get a defensive CFer so Bernie Williams can concentrate on DHing.
