Dawning of a New Age
Headmistress Auroria Castello is dead.
Not a soul in Hogwarts saw it coming. Rather, the anticipation of the new year at Hogwarts created a stir of excitement around the school. There were dances to plan, classes to study for, relationships to build. No one expected that twenty years after the fall of Lord Voldemort, after twenty years of peace in the magical world, evil would rear its ugly head once more.
The attack came as a sudden shock, one swift blow to the unsuspecting magical world. The attack took place at a rave, located in a teen club called the Sly. In the beginning, the party was a success, filled with underage drinking and suggestive dancing. However, midway through the wild party, a violent blow shook the very foundation of the magical world, the foundation of peace and security they had grown so accustomed to. One of the walls of the Sly exploded, and two battling Death Eaters of opposing factions broke forth amidst the students.
Jordon Lestrange and Stella di Mattina attacked the Sly with devastating force. Initially intent on killing one another in hopes of taking the place of Lord Voldemort as Dark Lord, the two soon switched focus in a combined effort of terror. Spells flew, curses struck, and several students died, either swiftly or painfully. After what seemed an eternity of bloodshed, the staff of Hogwarts, including Headmistress Castello, rushed to the aide of the students. Battle ensued, and eventually the faculty emerged victorious, aided by the Ministry of Magic and Auror forces. Lestrange and di Mattina were driven away by sheer force of numbers, yet vowed to return and finish what they had begun. One thing was certain after the attack - the Death Eaters had returned.
Jordon Lestrange and Stella di Mattina began massing their powers. Lestrange infiltrated the Ministry of Magic, recruiting several corrupt Aurors, all of which served his dark designs. Among two of the highest ranking Aurors "loyal" to Lestrange were Nocturne Dimitriv and Sepherius Lynican. The two twisted Death Eaters served Lestrange with the utmost faithfulness... for the time being. Stella di Mattina recruited the Dementors, after freeing them from Azkaban and calling them into her service. The two Death Eater lords were formidable in their power... but one of them failed to cover their tracks.
It was in a twist of luck that allowed Auroria Castello to discover the identity of Jordon Lestrange, as one of her students recognized the eyes of the man, who frequented the school disguised as a Ministry official. As Lestrange approached Hogwarts one day, Auroria Castello sought him out, and they dueled. It was a clash of great powers - the new Headmistress and the Dark Lord. In the end, Jordon Lestrange fell, struck dead by Auroria's curse. But something else happened, something unexpected... Auroria Castello fell, ripped apart by some unknown creature, lying dead next to the body of Lestrange.
Upon hearing of Lestrange's defeat, Stella di Mattina fled, going into hiding, biding her time. Headmistress Castello's loss struck the school hard, but with the start of the term approaching fast, everyone did their best to focus on the future. Deputy Headmistress Amelia Prewett took Auroria's place, taking the seat of the shortest-lived Headmistress to ever grace Hogwarts. The Death Eater threat was gone for the time being, and Amelia began actively planning for the new school year, scheduling a Welcoming Dance to help ease nerves. The magical world began to relax once more, casting off the attack as a brief uprising that was quickly quelled by the courage of Auroria Castello.
However, far from the wary eye of the masses, far from any and all suspicion, a new threat began to form. Still sequestered firmly in high-ranking Auror positions, Sepherious Lynican and Nocturne Dimitriv found the opening they had been waiting for. With their previous Dark Lord dead, Sepherius took the place as the new Dark Lord, taking command of all Lestrange's forces still lurking in the shadows. He began to confer with Stella di Mattina as well, bridging the gap between the two Death Eater factions and combining them into one greater power.
Sepherius began creating ties at Hogwarts as well. Recruiting a seventh year Slytherin, Lysander Wallace, Sepherius spoke to the boy about creating a group of students at Hogwarts loyal to the Death Eater cause, aptly named the Inquisitorial Squad, in homage to the historic squad led by Draco Malfoy years past. With the new term at Hogwarts only a few days away, Lysander was already prepared to aide the new Dark Lord.
Unlike Lestrange, however, Sepherius was bent on far more than simply replacing Voldemort as the Dark Lord. Sepherius heard rumors of an ancient evil, locked away behind a seal. Eight pieces of the seal were scattered across the world, and only when united could they open the door to unending power. Sepherius's intentions for infiltrating the Ministry were not only to gain power, but to gain access to the Department of Mysteries, where three pieces of the seal lay hidden. It was Sepherius's wish to harness the evil, giving him godlike power to reign over all.
So as the new term at Hogwarts draws ever nearer, Sepherius Lynican, aided by Nocturne Dimitriv, plans to run for Minister of Magic. It is his wish to harness the ancient evil that lays hidden deep within the dank recesses of the world, giving him omniscient power. Aided by loyal followers, a growing army at Hogwarts, and his own devious cunning, Sepherius knows well that nothing can stop him.
