Damnation 101
I got an email recently asking:

Will the dammed souls be more than murderers or are they all murderers? The reason I ask is because I wonder if there any bombers, pedophiles, rapists, robbers or racists, who didn't commit murder, but were sent to Hell?

It’s a good question. What exactly do you have to do to get damned? As the Devil points out in Helluva Life, ‘Life is cumulative.” All those times you ran a red light, kept the extra change you got at the gas station, or parked in a handicapped space, are they adding up? Is fire and brimstone in your future?

Different people consider different things a sin. Take David Fincher’s Se7en, for example. Sloth, gluttony, are those sins that you should end up in Hell for? Are those extra holiday pounds going to determine the fate of your eternal soul?

Or we can look at the ten commandments. If you work on Sunday instead of going to church, is that a sin? (#4) What about coveting? Ever had any sexy thoughts about Jennifer Aniston, a married woman? (#10) Apparently, it’s okay to covet the husband, so the ladies can still fantasize about Brad Pitt.

What about man’s laws? In New York City, it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving. If you drive into NYC from Jersey, while talking on a cell phone, do you begin sinning as you cross the state line? What about the trip home? Do you get brownie points from God because you stopped sinning when you crossed back into New Jersey?

What to you have to do to get damned? Thoughts, anyone?

well....
Not an easy question to answer.
All of us want to beleive in one way or another that there is some kind of cosmic justice. That slimy SOB's (enron execs I am looking in your direction) who swindle innocent people out of thier money are gonna get whats coming to them in the here after. But the sad or perhaps great truth to this is, that if you truley believe in God, and try your hardest to follow HIS rules (sorry thats just a pet peeve of mine, when people call God a she) and try to be better then you were before, you get saved. I don't think there is a one major sin you go to hell policy, nor do I belive in the loop-hole policy (if your a total creep, and you die saving a good person ....ect). I believe "Life is Cumlitive"

Damnation 102
Okay, no one has responded to Damnation 101, so we’ll move on. Let’s review the original question:

Will the dammed souls be more than murderers or are they all murderers? The reason I ask is because I wonder if there any bombers, pedophiles, rapists, robbers or racists, who didn't commit murder, but were sent to Hell?

This time, I’ll address each of those categories with my opinion.

Bombers: If you blow people up, that’s murder. Damnation. If you’re blowing up personal property (That leftover M-80 just looked so tempting), I don’t see how that could be a sin. Or, if it’s your job (controlled demolition), that should be pretty clean. But what about blowing up other people’s property? It should be the same amount of sin that you’d get for burning, smashing, or crushing it. A big black mark on your record, maybe, but if the rest of your life balances it out, you might go to heaven.

Pedophiles: Hopefully, none of these escaped, and they are still burning in Hell.

Rapists: Just like Gilbert Jax, rape will probably get you sent to Hell.

Robbers: Okay, they are different types of robbery. Here’s a thought: Guy with a gun, robs a bank, gets away with $9,000. No one is hurt, everything goes smooth. His twin brother cons an old lady out of $9,000. Which of these is a bigger sin, or are they equal?
Maybe the first brother, because he took his money by force. Maybe the second brother, because his crime impacted only a single person. Or maybe they are equally damned.

Racists: I heard a while back about the stance the Catholic Church took on homosexuality. It’s not a sin to be homosexual, God loves all of his creatures. In the church’s opinion, it was only a sin when one acts on those desires. Seems to me that racism would be the same thing. You can hate _______ people all that you want, but when you go out and start killing them, then it’s a sin.

Thoughts, anyone?

Homer I agree...
Plus remember Killion in the Virtual Season 2 of Brimstone:<p>

He went to hell for cause 29 deaths as well as Novak and his family and to our knowledge Novak and Killion were the only ones who were damned in the Columbus day Massacre.
